Blogger won’t update Craig Ferguson post due to fear of crock puppets

If you’ve watched a recent episode of CBS’ The Late Late Show with zany Craig Ferguson, you know Craig is proudly broadcasting now in hi-def which has alarmingly necessitated a longer crockodile puppet reaching up to Mr. Ferguson’s elbow.

He says it looks as if he’s been eaten by the crock – from the other end. And he may be correct, for with HD TV we must be aware of all minute details and how they come across to a hapless at-home audience.

Even middle-of-the-night TV viewers must have their sensitivities respected, one supposes, and Craig is nothing if not sensitive to our delicate sensibilities. Must be because he’s European.

Well, a post on this blog concerning Mr. Ferguson’s natal chart and an entry addressing his and Megan’s Wedding Day Astrology Report have been quite well-viewed, thanks…Craig’s a popular guy.

So yes, an update to either or both of them is in order – to his natal details, in particular, since I didn’t get too in-depth after his nibs stated on air that he doesn’t believe in Astrology. Or that he doesn’t use it, or something like that (it was a while ago, and late – very late.)

Now this is where I point out that Astrology is not a belief system so it’s impossible to ‘believe in’ it. One may believe it works or is a useful tool or language with which to understand the world and our own psyches, but a faith-based system it is not.

Anyway, it is with fear and trembling that I contemplate updating Mr. Ferguson’s natal chart post due to my extreme fear of possibly having one long and one short crockodile puppet sent out to bedevil me, at best only a reluctant astrologer, a blogging gnat, really.

Yet as I continue to watch TV’s Craig Ferguson in the coming weeks, I will try to muster what little courage I have to neutralize this unfortunate dilemma, for Craig’s natal chart is quite interesting – and I assert that his self-revealed visits to a therapist would go even better through the use of Psychological Astrology, if the option is available to him.

After all, no less than Carl Jung used Astrology for diagnosing his patients, you know. Of course, it’s impossible to get an appointment with him these days.

So if Craig gets over his problem with Astrology, perhaps I can get over my problem with crock puppets long enough to suggest that a good star-infested wizardly Merlin the Magician puppet would fill the first 2 minutes of Craig’s show mighty sassily.

And those ‘two new light bulbs’ on The Late Late Show set would pick up a puppet wizard’s hat just right (hi-def or no) to add more mystery, sparkle, and oomph to Craig’s comedy magic.

And in case you didn’t know: Mr. Ferguson is the King of Late Night Comedy so click the above link to view a few videos of a master in action! (Complimentary puppetry included.)

Was ‘the cat’ in Kiss, not the Sex Pistols?

Guess it’s more properly ‘croc’ puppets. Anyway.

Astrology of Woodstock 1969

Update 8.18.09: here’s a fabulous find!

Expert astrologer John Townley has posted on Woodstock’s Solar Return 2009 to mark the Festival’s 40th ‘birthday’ and to divulge his own whereabouts. John knows whereof he speaks – he was in the music business at the time.

My original post begins here:

Fascinating time, the 1960s. And I’ve always intended to write a few Astrology notes about the Woodstock Festival of Music and Art which spanned from August 15 to August 18, 1969 in an alfalfa field at Bethel, New York.

So what better way to celebrate Woodstock than with Astrology?

And with the musical mudslide’s 40th anniversary tomorrow, Saturday, I can hardly procrastinate a moment longer, can I?

So…was Love really All Around? Pretty much!

Update 8.17.09: click on ‘comments’ if they’re not showing for a YouTube video about LSD experiments. I can’t vouch for the video’s content, I’m just passing it along. Tried the stuff in college once and absolutely hated it, so I never recommend it to anyone, nor would I. jc

Fire Dave rallies on the march!

David Letterman is on TV now making fun of (mock) ‘Fire Dave’ rallies being held because of his Palin daughter joke and the subsequent dust-up for insulting the young lady (though which Palin daughter he meant I’m not certain.)

Funny idea, that, and I would be delighted to organize a rally locally but I just can’t seem to get behind the issue of canning a late-night comedian for a tasteless joke no matter how offensive (this is America – puritanical and all that, but still: America.)

It’s very doubtful that his Late Show job at CBS is in real danger, ya think?

Oh good – the Top Ten List is Top Ten Things Overheard at the Fire David Letterman Rally…and #10 is: David who?

New Music: The Hyacinths

Feelin’ sassy ‘cos I just ordered new tunes from The Hyacinths at CDBaby a site that plugs you in to all genres of Independent Music…very cool! And setting up an account with CDBaby was super-easy.

The CD I ordered is titled, By the Pearly Lights, and I love the name, can’t wait to hear the whole album.

We can still say ‘album’ can’t we?

And if you’re in the Atlanta area this summer, The Hyacinths have some upcoming dates for you – plus, you might check them out on Facebook…you know you want to!

Russell Brand 4 June, 1975

English comedian, writer, and actor, Russell Brand continues to make a jolly spectacle of himself with rare grace, charm, and wit, and I think it’s high time he was mentioned herein.

With my inspiration and astrological nosiness spurred by a rousing interview with Russell Brand on today’s Fresh Air radio programme (I’m turning a little British as I write about Mr. Brand – notice the birthdate in Brit style), here are a few natal details concerning his nibs.

Only child of two parents, Russell Brand (for our purposes now ‘RB’) has accomplished a level of fame in the UK which is perhaps exceeded only by controversial qualities which may at times outshine his brilliant wit and communications talents.

Fired from MTV and ‘resigned’ from the BBC ? That’s quite a resume and he’s only 33. Oh, and he made a little film in 2008 called, ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ – you may have seen him as the rock star boyfriend, a part re-written with him in mind.

Yet! We’ll not despair, for even in America his light now groweth, this self-described ‘S & M Willy Wonka’ with the teased-up hair, ropes of necklaces tucked underneath unbuttoned shirts, and tight leather pants which are major parts of his repertoire, if one may say so.

Born 4 June, 1975, the soon-to-be 34-year-old arrives at Hermes’ Crossroads quite naturally if his natal chart – his…dare I say it? – horoscope…is consulted. You see, Gemini is the sign of the Eternal Youth, the Peter Pan archetype of our modern days.

Rock stars, music producers, and actors often fall into this category and it isn’t easy for many of them to break free and deal with the realities of aging and of ordinary life. Garner enough money, fame, and prestige and you’ll be lead by the hand (Gemini) right into the mirror-tiled bedroom (soon after your 10th botox treatment and your last album-release party) for a romantic rendezvous with the perfect stranger who awaits the prince.

On 4 June, 1975: Grays, Essex was the scene of the bouncing and happy event for although darkness exists within Mr. Brand – and is also to be found in his memoir ‘My Booky Wook’ as he instructively points out in today’s radio interview – his natal Sun in Gemini along with the writer’s planet, Mercury Rx 22Gem24 (using a Sun-to-Midheaven chart at the moment: 12:56:50 pm bst) give him plenty of Pan-ishness in all departments. The trickster element’s elfin charm!

Desire nature = Mars – RB’s is in lusty Aries, 7 degrees from an Arian Jupiter; Venus = what one is attracted to and what one attracts – RB’s is in creative Cancer, sign of nurturing + planet of the anima (the perfection of womanhood within the psyche.)

So by sign only, we may simplistically say that RB desires Aries, and is attracted to and attracts those of the Cancerian persuasion.

Now  although I just did, I don’t like to pry so it’s a good thing Mr. Brand’s birth hour is unknown to me. But the Moon remained in Aries for the 24 hours of his birth day; therefore, let us consider Sun Gem-Moon Aries and see what may be seen about this entertaining genius from Essex.

Sun Gem-Moon Aries is an Air-Fire blend with a freshness and clarity to it. Quick and alert, decisive and versatile, Sun Gem-Moon Ari is passionately impulsive and endlessly curious.

(Instantly one might think of  Mr. Brand’s oft-touted ‘bed-them-all’ approach with the ladies which seems to work well for his libido and for establishing a lotharian legend which naughty Mercury in his Hermes guise can well admire.)

Intense will power combined with strong communication ability makes for a poetic salesperson, a whiz with words, and a vivid speaker whose exuberance may be envied by less nimble types.

Yet feelings are not the strong suit here – feeling  ‘passionately’ about things isn’t the same as being able to empathize. And saying what one thinks isn’t the same as sharing feelings about human emotions. Gemini usually finds emotions ‘too heavy’ so “let us flit to something fun and up-to-the-minute, pleeese, I’m so bored,”  he pouts.

Yet oddly enough, there’s a pugnacious forthrightness here that can make for bitter enemies, yet the Sun Gem-Moon Ari blend of energies is often surprised to find this out even as it’s being shrugged off with a hilarious joke or two and a bye-your-leaves, MTV and BBC.

However, no amount of negative experience dulls the spontaneity, the puppy-with-two-tails quality that gets this blend through life’s challenges and helps immensely when one must talk oneself out of tough corners.

Any career that involves ‘thinking on ones feet’  is perfect for this combo, plus, the ability is supported by his having Jupiter oriental (last planet to rise before the Sun) which favors work situations that require spontaneous actions and quick decisions that ‘pay off’ handsomely, it is hoped.

Comedy, stand-up, acting, and music are good ways of using Jupiter oriental – anything that includes improvisation is excellent for Russell Brand’s varied and impressive talents.

Weaknesses may be:

egotism (in show business? Whaaa?); insensitivity to others’ feelings; partiality; monopolizing conversations (like his pal, TV’s Craig Ferguson, RB doesn’t really need anyone on stage with him – that’s Gemini’s multi-characterizations so it’s not really a negative trait for a performer…Ferguson has Mercury and Venus in Gemini); riding roughshod over others is a temptation (which may play into libido games, of course, along with his ‘Pluto-Chiron = Saturn’  in Cancer…ouch! The oppressive authority figure suppresses the psyche and sense of inner responsibility at an early age. To be recognized as an authority in adulthood is a prime motivation while Gemini still insists on romping about the place tossing confetti.)

Natally speaking, this Air-Fire blend is shared by Bill Moyers and John Constable, the painter mentioned below…

‘Images for Integration: A nimble-footed streetfighter dodges his way to victory over all comers’ (hush! – jc)…’The eternal freshness of a Constable landscape.’ (‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Chas & Suzi Harvey.)

Well, Mr. Eternal Freshness certainly plays the Artful Dodger archetype with grand enthusiasm – yet with a past of drug problems and family myths and complexes weighing him down. And frettingly, a Rx Morya (opiates such as morphine) closely opposes natal Sun in Gemini…with Morya near Neptune 10Sag21 Rx.

And you know about Sun-Neptune oppositions…

…early misunderstanding of authority causes a sense of being singled out for discipline (or being so); acting defiantly toward anyone who tries to control and manipulate…obvious obstacles are lost in crowds of imaginary ones…self-doubt, fear of entrapment, running away from reality…yet highly creative and potentially successful later in life once a full awareness of the creative talents is developed.

And yes, that creative if often self-deceptive  Neptunian ‘urge to merge’ can be fatal if one doesn’t escape the lifestyle in time, so I hereby declare that I am most sincerely glad that Russell Brand is with us now to spread his amazingly cheeky comedy all over the land because everyone on the planet can benefit from a good larf now and then!

Will Ferrell takes Bush to Broadway

Oliver Stone’s “W” film opens wide today and Josh “W” Brolin’s TV interviews are enticing yet my vote for the best rendering of George W. Bush ever  has to be Will Ferrell as Bush on SNL so the idea of Ferrell playing Bush on Broadway tickles me no end:

Craig Ferguson tickets procured!

Now here’s a coup I can believe in!

It’s confirmed: TV’s Craig Ferguson is coming to a town nearby and tickets have been purchased!!

Suave European Mr. Ferguson may now join George Carlin as one of the very few comedians I’ve seen in concert.

They’re much alike really – one is known for spouting out-of-the-mainstream foul-mouthed yet witty truisms – and the other one is George Carlin.

August 1 Eclipse brings: The Mummy

Wonder if the execs at Universal knew that the premiere date for ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ is a Solar Eclipse day?

You may have seen the August 1 Eclipse chart with details here (see Pages column) in relation to the NYSE (whose Pre-natal Eclipse Series it is) but you may not have related this Eclipse to a 2,000 year old cuss who buried his enemies under the Great Wall of China. How could you?

Probably the film’s release is timed for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Of course, the Olympics are occurring within the 10 South Series Eclipse, too. Hmmm.

Then yesterday NPR reported that Beijing’s air quality is still poor – I say Beijing is using a version of the *Twain Defence of Wagner’s Music in order to justify the city’s miserable levels of particulate matter which the government’s recent attempts at improvement haven’t seemed to help much…”The air is cleaner than it looks,” they assure the world.

Seems it’s the fog’s fault. Really. The fog did it.

But back to Brendan Fraser and Jet Li who star in number 3 of The Mummy series. You’ll remember last time that ‘The Return of the Mummy’ chronicled…that the Mummy returned. Now things have heated up like a city under smoggy fog and the Great Wall is in jeopardy of…well, something, I know not what.

But I do know that the film’s trailer is one of the best you’ll see and you may wish to view it at:

http://www.themummy.com/

while thinking of 10 South’s influence which is:

breaking out of a very negative situation where no hope can be seen to a more positive space containing many options; a worry will suddenly clear; the solution is shown by the cosmos and needs to be taken up without too much delay. (Brady’s ‘Predictive Astrology.’)

Well, if I’d been socked under the Great Wall of China for 2,000 years ‘more space’ would certainly be a good solution! But taking that long-awaited deep breath of Beijing air might pose a slight problem.
