Wedding Day Astrology: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

On August 16, 2008, Los Angeles, California, at an evening hour, TV star-comedian Ellen DeGeneres and lovely actress Portia De Rossi, were wed in a small private at-home ceremony with 19 guests attending.

Both the stars’ mothers were in attendance, with Portia’s mom flying in from Australia for the intimate occasion.

As a reader of this blog has noted (and I needed a heads-up for I was unaware the nuptials had taken place last evening), the Wedding Day/Evening was a Lunar Eclipse night with Sun 25 Leo and Moon 25 Aquarius. It’s better to wed after a Lunar Eclipse than before, I’d say. ~update: I just saw a post that says they wed around 4:00 pm.~

I’m informed that Portia is an Aquarian (Sun in AQ) as is Ellen (Jan 26, 1958; 3:30 am CST; Metairie, LA) with Ellen’s Sun 5AQ56, rising in Los Angeles at 6:36:09 pm PDT last evening…mere hours after the perfecting of the Aquarian Lunar Eclipse. 

Ellen’s natal Moon is at 17Ari25, in n 4th house, and ruled by Aries.

As you know, a Lunar Eclipse is a Full Moon, the culmination phase of what was begun two weeks prior at the New Moon. Perhaps their wedding plans were being finalized at that time and came to manifestation last evening in a romantic haze of vow exchange!

Whatever the planning schedule may have been, here are the Sun (masc)/Moon (fem) details for the happy couple:

Sun Leo/Moon AQ: this Fire/Air blend is as vividly imaginative as you would expect these creative ladies to be; idealism is prominent, along with extreme individualism.

This is the ‘passion/stardom vs freedom/friendship’ combo, and indicates much romantic attachment. The pair began dating in 2004 so the’ve logged 4 years together already! Pretty good for Hollywood.

Sun Leo/Moon AQ tends to flamboyantly cross accepted social boundaries to make its point. Rebellious and elegantly outspoken, this blend is very honest and has an inability to be anything but itself. Together, Ellen and Portia will want to see only the best in their fellow woman and are broadminded in their outlooks…kind-heartedness will be evident from their dramatic partnership.

They brim over with generous affection toward one another and have outrageous plans and noble intentions, although more practicality will be useful to them in the long run. But at the moment, their heads may be in the clouds so clear objectivity is missing for now.

This is a blend of loyalty with a warmly sympathetic nature, so philanthropic pursuits may be on their agenda as a couple (if it hasn’t been already.) As Noel Tyl puts it: ‘idealism and romance are extended into humanitarian service.’

Tendencies to watch out for with this blend would be in the arrogance/intolerance department, but if Ellen DeGeneres has a problem with these traits, she’s managed to hide them very well up until now – she’s one of my personal favorites since her several-years-old ‘buh-bye’ routine as a pretend flight attendant! Anyone who can say ‘buh-bye’ with that many voice inflections was and is all right by me.

If any dark clouds form due to marrying at a Lunar (emotions) Eclipse, there could possibly be a time period of note: Eellen’s Pre-Natal Eclipse Series (14 North) will repeat with a Solar Eclipse on Nov 25, 2011. The reason I mention this is because of the flavor of this Series:

So the 6 months following (or a couple of weeks prior) may be a dicey time for this romantic and idealistic pairing. And while it may indicate the end of their marriage (yet only they can determine that), such issues are sure to surface during that time – particularly since thir nuptials occurred within the magical, veiling light of a Lunar Eclipse!
