Spring EQ 2018: Sun Aries-Moon Taurus

Here are my astro-notes concerning Spring Equinox 2018 which perfects when the Sun reaches 00Ari00, the Aries Point on March 20, 2018 at 12:15:28 pm edt. In this post let’s focus primarily on the day’s (and thus the Spring Season’s and, some would say, the entire year’s cosmic weather until March 2019) via the Sun-Moon blend of conscious plus unconscious energies and the synergy created by this particular blend.

Additionally, a view of the Spring EQ 2018 Horoscope set for Washington DC is available if you’re curious. In the chart, you’ll see scandalous Neptune in Pisces at Midheaven and so the scandals, leaks, and cover-ups in America continue. Paranoia, fear, and contagion are unfortunately suggested as well by both Neptune and its natural sign of the Two Fishes. The good news with Neptune is that divine inspiration is always available for those open to higher aspirations than the mere temporal.

As for a general perspective on Spring EQ 2018, a consideration of its Fire-Earth Sun Aries-Moon Taurus combination suggests a time when stamina, courage, and determination are in order, while self-centeredness and personal ambition are top of the agenda for folks of a driven persuasion. However, there may be in evidence a stop-go approach to issues as egos pose obstacles to cooperation and understandably disrupt harmony.

Actually, all Fire-Earth blends hint at volcanoes in eruption and cause a ‘bulldozer’ effect within conditions which tend to reveal dictatorial attitudes where they exist. Expectably, this sort of combo of energies works well for politicians born under it. One example (though technically he is not a politician, he just feeds off them) is the recently indicted political operative Paul Manafort. In 2017 he appeared in a SO’W post I titled Paul Manafort: the Ram and the Bull for obvious sign-based reasons.

This is the blend of the ‘tactless diplomat’ which suggests recent moves toward a meeting between Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Why, some people have even suggested Kim’s pal Dennis Rodman to act as ‘diplomat’! Yes, humor and wit are part of the Sun Aries-Moon Taurus blend and this particular face-to-face of global proportions is an example of Spring 2018’s ha-has which may become all too real with hard-to-predict results.

Yet the tough vs tender Sun Aries-Moon Taurus combo is able to cut through non-essentials with intellect and a vital spirit but don’t be surprised if it sometimes likes to play devil’s advocate. Smoothing down the ruffled feathers of others is also on the Spring 2018 agenda as are entrepreneurship and the self-confidence to push for economic security. Under these energies hypocrisy cannot thrive (which bodes ill for Washington politicians!) although those who possess magnetic charm will prosper (unless other factors in the psyche interfere). One caution is not to allow jealousy or possessiveness to ruin relationships (always good advice).

So now you have my solar-lunar astro-notes on Spring Equinox 2018 some of which are gleaned from the Harveys’ excellent book Sun Sign-Moon Sign. Let’s close with a famous quote from another fellow who was born under the influence of this Fire-Earth combination, Sleepy Hollow author Washington Irving,

“A tart temper never mellows with age, and a sharp tongue is the only edged tool that grows keener with constant use.”

Astrology: Tom Ellis – TV’s “Lucifer”

Lucifer: Fallen Angels, Demons, Karma, and a Royal Star of Persia

by Jude Cowell

On the evening of January 25, 2016 Lucifer premiered on FOX TV at 9:00 pm est. Rising in New York City (NYC to represent the East Coast USA) at that moment were transiting Jupiter (an actors’ planet) and North Node of the Moon (public contact), traveling in tandem at 22 Virgo and bestowing good fortune where appropriate. Not everyone was thrilled with such existential topics being aired as part of a racy dramatic endeavor, and critics became somewhat mild in their appraisals. Fans of the comic character ‘Lucifer’, created by Neil Gaiman, were for the most part less than impressed. But the ladies–well, they were quite a different matter, thanks to Mr. Ellis and the cast.

A magnetic effect seems to be centered upon the show’s leading actor, Tom Ellis, born November 17, 1978, hour unknown, in Bangor, UK (Wales) with Sun, attracter Venus, and intense Uranus in Scorpio. Or allow me to be specific: the magnetism seems to be centered upon the hypnotic effect of Mr. Ellis’s dark, Scorpio-looking eyes. TV technical effects add to the impression as ‘Lucifer Morningstar’ threatens miscreants with black eyes that turn…well, check them out if you haven’t. Hopefully, the following video won’t be spirited away due to infringement rights though it probably will be–and soon:

~:~

Now back to January 25, 2016 9:00 pm est when the Sun was clocking in at 5 Aquarius 31. Round up the degree to 6 Aquarius and you have a solar spotlight directed at the natal (birth) asteroid ‘Lucifer’ in the natal horoscope of Tom Ellis. His natal Moon (either in the last third of Gemini or in very early Cancer–details, below) is in 10th house of Career and Public Status and conjunct Midheaven, a signature for major publicity (Moon) on the world stage (MC.) His natal Mercury-Neptune conjunction at 17 Sagittarius+ is very much the signature of a thespian and holds a fount of creativity within. If memory serves, he became active in the profession at age 17, plus, natal Uranus at 17 Scorpio joins Venus (9Sco53 Rx) and his Sun in the mystical, dark sign of Scorpio.

And if we consider the Sun’s ’25 Scorpio’ Sabian Symbol, we find “An X-Ray” which seems to relate the those magnetic, hypnotic eyes we discussed a moment ago. X-ray vision comes to mind–you know, like in comic books back in the day?

As for major success, there’s the pilot episode premiering during a planetary Locomotive pattern with the publicity seeking Moon in the lead to guarantee popularity. And with the Moon (the public) at 29 Leo05–precisely conjoining the 12th house cusp (29:05 at 9:00 pm est) and also reflecting a certain Royal Star of Persia, Regulus (keywords: success if revenge is avoided). Of course, Regulus has a long history of affecting events and people on Earth, is mentioned in the Bible, and is aka, The Watcher of the North–an angel. The King or The Kingmaker are also roles that Regulus may play yet it’s doubtful that any characterization of the devil could represent him truthfully if he didn’t take revenge on the guilty. Punishment, TV’s Lucifer says, is what he does. Or used to.

However, when planets are linked with Regulus, who ruled as king in long ago golden days, there comes a caution: that revenge is his nemesis and if he takes it, he will ultimately lose all his power and success. The desire for revenge is a desire to which he must not succumb. As you may agree, few human beings manage to withstand such a warning even while knowing that natural laws ensnare us all within the universal net of karma and we must reap what we’ve sown.

Now I doubt that the scriptwriters of Lucifer have any such plot in mind but that’s part of one version of the myth associated with Regulus, and on at least one level Tom Ellis’ Lucifer, fallen from grace as he is, seems to be following a Regulus pattern of behavior by succumbing regularly for if you really want to do something you should do it, Lucifer advises.

Of course, none of the above mentions the pure fun the program provides as a brilliant Welsh actor embodies for us God’s fallen offspring playing and romancing in the form of an L.A. nightclub owner. Lucifer is, some say, his Father’s favorite son but he strongly disagrees. The good news for #Lucifans is that Lucifer is renewed for a second season so everyone will have future opportunities to enjoy the show’s intoxicating blend of sophistication and humor mixed with sophomoric innuendo and the lightest touch possible in a story full of temptation, pride, angel wings, and featuring the epitome of the rebellious son who refuses to swallow his overwhelming pride and return to his Father.

Now if Tom Ellis was born on November 17, 1978 between the hours of 8:16 pm GMT and midnight, his Moon is in tribal, self-protective, home-loving Cancer. Chances are better that his Moon is in Mercury-ruled Gemini which adds a light touch to his intense Scorpio Sun, so here are the ‘Images for Integration’ for this conscious-unconscious combination of energies as provided by the Harveys in their book, Sun Sign-Moon Sign:

Trivial Pursuits goes macabre…A virtuoso violinist touches the hearts of her audience” (or in this case, pianist!) “…The mystery of life in a strip cartoon…Rodin’s The Kiss, Hands.”

Yes, Rodin was born under the influence of Sun Scorpio-Moon Gemini as was Dostoyevsky who appropriately informs us that,

“If the devil doesn’t exist, but man has created him, he has created him in his own image and likeness.”

And on Mondays 9:00 pm on FOX TV, that image looks a lot like Tom Ellis.

Horoscope: Evangeline Adams

Natal Horoscope Feb 8, 1869

Natal Horoscope Feb 8, 1868

Image: Evangeline Adams February 8, 1868 8:30 am LMT Jersey city, New Jersey; please enlarge to read a few basic chart factors messily penned on.

Above you see the natal horoscope of famed American astrologer Evangeline Smith Adams. However, its accuracy is in question with a Rodden Rating of DD for ‘Dirty Data’ yet it is the data she herself gave in her book, The Bowl of Heaven and has been used by many astrologers through the years.

Since one of the books I am currently reading is Foreseeing the Future: Evangeline Adams and Astrology in America by Karen Christino, I naturally wanted a look at her natal chart and noticed that Evangeline Adams is in process of a Saturn Return! And with Saturn being the traditional ruler of the ancient art of Astrology, I wanted to post her chart as a tribute to her pioneering work of the 19th century when she reportedly served a client list of 100,000! Adams established herself as an independent woman of business when that sort of thing was very rarely done.

And even non-astrologers have heard the tale of one of her most famous clients (and students), J. P. Morgan, and his revealing quote that, “Millionaires don’t use Astrology, billionaires do.” One must assume that this remains the case for both Financial Markets and Astrology are based on cycles within cycles so why not pay heed to the excellent timing advantage one has through the use of astrological principles?

Well, this post is not meant to be a major study of the natal chart of Ms. Adams though more info may be published later. Let’s do make note of the three dates of her current Saturn Return/s–a ‘three-fer’ due to Saturn’s retrogradation though her natal Saturn @4Sag40 is Direct as you see which emphasizes the third and final conjunction of transiting Saturn to 4Sag40 (1. denial; 2. acceptance; 3. resolution):

1. February 25, 2015;
2. March 31, 2015; and
3. November 6, 2015
which is yet to come as of this posting.

Now her Mercury-North Node opposition denotes her Mercury conjunct South Node (ideas before her time; others pilfer and use her ideas without giving her credit) and the opposition points toward her natal Saturn in the 9th house of Philosophy, Religion, Higher Education, and Foreign Lands. Legal Matters may also be found in the 9th house expecially involving Higher Courts such as SCOTUS.

(Enlarge chart to read Mercury-NN = Saturn potentials, upper right.)

As the ruler of Capricorn (government, law, and business), Saturn is one of the karmic planets acting as our celestial time keeper and lesson bringer who demands that what is reaped must be sown (as a Saturnian astrologer I don’t ‘do’ past lives, just heredity and DNA). No one escapes this natural law–not even big bankers, Wall Street gentry, or government officials (with warmongers and mass murderers definitely included.)

So! Will the 2015 Saturn Return of Evangeline Adams affect current events (beyond this post!) in a karmic way? Perhaps not. But now that her chart and Return dates are noted and spotlighted we’ll have to see if the famous 19th century prognosticator of cycles somehow imprints upon current events once again.

Natal planets of Twitter’s first tweet

On March 21, 2006 at 9:50 pm pst in San Francisco, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey posted this message: “just setting up my twttr” and one of the most influential social networking sites began with 24 characters. ‘Twas the first tweet of many 140-characters-or-less messages to be tweeted out to inform the Universe of…well, whatever.

Here is a list of the planets on March 21, 2006 at 9:50 pm pst (which uses over 140 characters but it can’t be helped):

Sun 1Ari27 (one day past Spring Equinox 2006, aka, the Aries Ingress when the Sun reaches 00Ari00:00, the Aries Point of reward, fame, prominence and recognition on the world stage–was some founder reading Astrology charts in order to elect the timing for Twitter’s success?);

Moon (the public) 24Sag31, ruled by broadcasting Jupiter, planet of fortunate breaks and lucky wins;

Mercury 13Pis43–Mercury, planet of Communications in creative Pisces (also ruled by Jupiter and co-ruled by vast Neptune of the Unconscious)–Pisces is the sign of The Collective;

Venus 15AQ00 with Aquarius also associated with The Collective via Humanity–attractive yet distant;

Mars 17Gem04, planet of action, energy, initiative, and motivation and ruler of the Aries Point; Gemini, sign of Communications and ruled by speedy Mercury with wings on his helmet and ankles facilitating instant communications, ideas, and the news; Twitter acts (Mars) as a chatty Gemini;

Jupiter 18Sco23—Scorpio, ruled by forceful Mars and Pluto and sign of Big Business, Corporatism, and intensity; an indicator of gaining plenty of high-level financial investment–Jupiter shows how one relates to others so Twitter relates as a Scorpio;

Saturn 4Leo33–Leo, sign of creativity, entertainment, and leadership, and Saturn, planet of authority, systems, boundaries and restriction (140 characters only!);

Uranus 11Pis53, quirky planet of Technology and whatever is the newest thing or invention; Pisces again (see conjunctions, below); Uranus’ sign describes how one behaves so Twitter behaves as a Pisces…evasively? compassionately? well, constant Tweeting can be used as negative escapism!;

Neptune 18AQ50, planet of creativity, The Masses, and the Media, and as noted above; Aquarius, pouring out its gifts to the world;

Pluto 26Sag44–Sagittarius, The Seeker archetype, ruled by Jupiter; Pluto, the primal motivator and planet of
invisible control and great wealth hidden in secret places (also, the saboteur).

As you see, there are three important conjunctions on the First-Tweet list and contain much energy for creative enterprises:

Moon-Pluto (a pair associated with publicity), Mercury-Uranus (a primary signature for technological communications such as computers and other devices, plus it acts as a marker for intellectual genius and denotes power–Pluto–to the People–Moon), and Venus-Neptune, an artistic combo denoting dreamers, visionaries, mystics, and illusionists–and of being attractive (Venus) to The Masses (Neptune.)

All of these potentials are well supported by Twitter’s Sun Ari-Moon Sag blend, a fire-fire combination of energies that can sense the potential opportunity in every situation and inspire others with its persuasive passion.

With Sun Ari-Moon Sag, Twitter has shown what is obviously an entrepreneurial spirit but with a definite philosophical flair, a competitive nature, and an optimistic attitude. Here is Twitter’s philosophy, or Mission Statement with Mercury-Uranus, Moon-Pluto, and Venus-Neptune vibes in attendance:

“To instantly connect people everywhere to what is most meaningful to them.”

And so it does!

June 8 2013 New Moon in Gemini: “A Large Archaic Volume”

If you use the Sabian Symbols much you probably recognize the one for Saturday June 8, 2013’s New Moon @18Gem01–“A Large Archaic Volume”–using the ’rounding up’ method which gives us’19Gemini’.

Sun Gem-Moon Gem is a double Air blend of intellect, reasonableness, and debate and watching Washington DC politics as I regularly do, I’m wondering when or if the ‘reasonableness’ will be apparent any time soon. Quick communications (ex: texting) and a talent for Mercurial mimicry are evident with this combination of energies so a lot of talking is on the weekend’s list of activities.

This personality blend is shared natally by an interesting cast of characters including famous thespian John Barrymore (“One of my chief regrets during my years in the theater is that I couldn’t sit in the audience and watch me.”) Well, yes. Self-absorb much? Still, I always thought his lion-esque appearance, imperious voice, and royal manner were perfect on the stage.

Double Gemini writer Dorothy Sayers had her time in the sun as well and how perfect in our day of spying on people’s private lives is this, one of her more famous verses?

“As I grow older and older

And totter towards the tomb

I find that I care less and less

Who goes to bed with whom.”

Too bad Washington’s political operatives can’t take such a sentiment to heart! Yet how would DC survive without blackmail?

But the double Gemini fellow whose famous quote I wish most to add here is that of economist John Maynard Keynes for it is my belief that his words lightly touch upon the more-visible-than-ever agenda of those who would rule the entire world if or as soon as they can manage it:

“Ideas shape the course of history.”

Well, yes. Yes, they do. It’s all in the planning, another function of Mercury. I only wish the ruling elite, both public and hidden, would have them some better ideas than what they’re attempting to forcefully implement from their large archaic volume.

Don’t you?

Mar 9 2013 Planets and Moon line up in mystical Pisces

Born with a Pisces Moon myself, I was interested to read expert astrologer Mary Plumb’s take on the abundance of Pisces energy all around us this February into March. Even Pope Benedict’s resignation is denoted with Pisces the Fish an ancient symbol of Christianity.

The horoscope for his official resignation (February 28, 2013 at 8:00 pm Rome Time) shows Venus and Neptune (sub-ruler of Pisces and god of the Seas) joined together upon Royal Star Fomalhaut @4Pisces. As a pair, Venus-Neptune describes the Catholic Church with its worship of Mary (Venus) and its mystical (Neptune) rituals and masses, and Fomalhaut’s themes include mysticism, magic, and the occult, but also inherited illness and congenital effects. As you know, the Pope cites ill health as the reason for his step-down.

Another Mary, Mary Plumb’s article Pisces Takes Over details the oceanic line-up of planets with the Moon on March 9th and the implications of this Jupiter-Neptune energy along with info on when planets are viewable in the night or early morning sky.

Plus, we’re hearing an increase in news events related to Pisces such as oceans, ships, water, fishing, oil and gas, dancing, footwear, negative escapism like alcohol and other drugs…well, here’s a good example–the cruise ship stuck in the Gulf of Mexico which is being tugged to shore–landfall sometime this evening.

And naturally a mention of the Piscean habits of secrecy, deception, and confusion is in order, right?

2012’s Friday the 13th with Mars Turning Direct

Today the long seige of a retrograde Mars ends as the planet of action, energy, and motivation begins a forward march. So if I were you (and I’m not last time I checked) I’d take some pertinent advice from my friend astrologer Julie Demboski on the matter!

Plus, if you’re not totally fed up with Politics, you may wish to visit my Political Astrology blog for a few astro-notes on the Mars Station Direct @ 3Vir40 in relation to Washington DC, my former place of residence. (Or maybe not. Wouldn’t blame you for being fed up with the varmints who now infest the land.)

While there be sure to scroll a smidgeon down Stars Over Washington’s sidebar for two considerations of the Astrology of DNC 2012 and RNC 2012 for that time draws near and more astro-notes will be forthcoming…

Either way, I hope today’s ‘Friday the 13th’ is going well for you and that all your ducks are lining up in neat rows, ready and eager to waddle forward!

How Astrologers Contributed to the Info Age

If you appreciate the use of Astrology as a tool, a language, and a system of analysis that brings an element to any consideration which no other system provides: Time!–then the intrguing news that astrologers contributed beneficially to the Information Age is no large surprise.

But if that fellow reading this post from over your shoulder is unaware of the astro-info symbiosis, perhaps he’ll click the Astrology News Service link and check it out!

And if this reluctant astrologer had had anything to do with it personally, I’d say, You’re welcome

Wikipedia’s Astrology-Edit controversy

Did you know that Wikipedia has decided that editors who have not edited topics on the site other than Astrology subjects cannot edit Wikipedia entries that concern the topic of….Astrology?

Yes, it surprises me, too, and the change seems quite crazy especially considering how in some circles the use and study of Astrology is controversial on its own. Is a skew now in force to sway readers against the venerable art and science of Astrology?

If so, the sound we hear may be Kepler, Copernicus, Lilly, and Nostradamus creakingly turning in their graves.

That’s going to be centuries’ worth of information to get wrong by sceptics with their own skews and misconceptions, dear Wikipedia – and I thought you were supposedly so…democratic!

Two reactors in Georgia, Full Moon 3-19-11

From the Gross to the Sub-Rhyme

by Jude Cowell

Just in from my hometown newspaper The Banner-Herald comes an update on the two nuclear reactors still on track for construction in the southeastern state of Georgia in spite of the horrid Meltdown in Japan.

Yes, there are differences between power plant designs and the chance of a tsunami claiming one of the nuclear reactors in Georgia is slim to none. But there’s more to consider, if you care to read. The article includes a brief overview of how things stand in the US which may interest a wider audience.

Personally, I don’t like being reminded of the myth of Atlantis which (in one version of the tale) sank due to abuse/misuse of power. The asteroid Atlantis in Mundane Astrology has keywords: ‘abuse/misuse of power; where we feel doomed.’

If this turns out to be the case, I’ll blame the usual cast of wormy characters along with nuclear and other scientists and their institutions, laboratories, and related universities. The IAEA is also suspect in my book – can’t help it.

Uranus = AP an Astro-Factor in Current Troubles

Uranus to Aries Point, the current Solar Eclipse degree 13Cap38 (January 4, 2011) conjoining fixed star Manubrium (a flaring heat), midpoint picture Saturn/Uranus = Pluto: harm through force majeure, Jupiter opposite Saturn, Saturn quindecile Uranus, and other difficult planetary energies and patterns now active in Earth’s atmosphere and the historical timeline are proving too hot for would-be rescuers to handle and too debilitating to Life on Earth for me to keep out of prayer for very long and I must move on mentally and emotionally to a different topic for a while, y’know?

So here are 3 previous posts which concern timely Spring 2011 topics w none of them updated for this linking:

Spring Equinox 2011 (aka, Aries Ingress, or Spring Ingress – basically when Tropical Sun reaches 00Aries00:00, the Aries Point of World Manifestation. 00Lib00:00 and 00Can00:00/Cap are the other three points on the Physical Plane – Grand Cross of earthly existence, and signified by the number 4.

Now I don’t know about you, but I could do with less world manifestation at the moment, agreed? If only the world could have a few moments to catch up. Perhaps a return of Uranian electricity to the power plants will bring solutions for Japan.)

This Weekend’s Full Moon 3.19.11 (Purim begins @ sundown)
