Wedding Day Astrology: Todd and Sara Palin
In an elopement on August 29, 1988, Sara Heath married high school sweetheart Todd Palin on a day when the Sun as in Virgo and Moon was in Aries all through the day and evening – from 2Ari50 to 17Ari40, with Moon conj Mars Rx 11Ari22 in the early afternoon, Alaska time.)
The Sun Vir/Moon Aries blend may give some hint of the partnership and marriage of Sara and Todd so let’s start with a few general traits of an Earth-Fire Sun-Moon blend:
this is the do-er with the ability to enthuse others into action, a practical visionary with an instinct for the main chance; Earth-Fire is humorous and sensual with a need for freedom and power – the ‘good life’ is much enjoyed – political office is a perfect outlet for Earth-Fire combos.
Sun Vir/Moon Aries: self-motivated, skillful and pragmatic, this blend has a caustic wit. Dedicated to ideals, and something of a practical joker, this is a committed workaholic with a self-centered streak and a tendency towards bossiness.
This crusading temperament knows that victory comes to those who have done their homework, and it doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Full of good advice and well-intentioned criticisms, there is a cutting, blunt style of delivery – ideas and facts are considered more important than feelings especially when the ideas are one’s own.
Hair-trigger reactions reveal the depth of personal ambition and an intense self-absorption; there’s an inflexibility and edginess yet a balance of sorts is created between the quick-to-anger side and a self-effacing, apologetic side.
In relationships, a marriage of minds is more important than true love. Relationships need lots of work within this combo as the more subtle shades of feelings pass by unnoticed. Feelings blow hot and cold with Sun Vir/Moon Aries.
Verbal repartee is a strength and one is easier to please in relationships when professional pursuits are going well. This combo’s analytical mind gets right to the point bringing flair and enthusiasm to the world of the mundane.
Weaknesses are a scathingly critical, over-cerebral approach, too much self-sufficiency, and an excessive verbosity which takes a know-it-all approach to those who are dependent upon it.
Image for Integration: “A jolly, rotund monk enjoys his food and wine while excelling in well-worn Latin sayings, witty responses, and kindly good humour.” (‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Chas & Suzy Harvey.)
The Sun Vir/Moon Aries blend is shared natally by Lily Tomlin, Leonard Bernstein, Henry Ford II, Ingrid Bergman, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and scholar-mystic St. Francois de Sales who cautioned:
“Heed well the precepts of the saints, who have all warned those who would become holy to speak little of themselves and their own affairs.”
Now that advice doesn’t mesh with Politics and politicians at all, does it?
Shows me yet another reason why Politics and Religion should remain in separate realms, and why a man or woman who says ‘Trust Me’ shouldn’t have to tout it so loudly to be elected.
Thanks, ellesbeth – i replied to your other comment about Todd’s dob before i saw this!
Astrologically their relationship seems problematic (most do!) but they do, after all, have five children so there must be something there during 20 years of married life! ;p

if tods dob is 9/6/64 they are elemental opposites which I think works well when you’re young, the other person has what you lack, but ultimately you want to be with someone who lives in the same world. (There aren’t a lot of choices in small town alaska). His sun pluto uranus conjunction shows a strong will and desire for power which complements Saras, but I still don’t get their synastry.
In total agreement with you julie, she’s a scary lady. Did you read the anne kilkenny blog ?

Nicely done, Jude! This certainly sounds like the blend of a ‘working marriage,’ with an emphasis on practical application (Virgo) and the advancement of (at least one of) the partners. I found her speech the other night to be genuinely frightening–it pointed up how such single-minded assertion, such surety that one is absolutely right, is really a very rare thing. All I could think was, God help us all if this woman gets any more power than she’s already grabbed!

Hi – i came across an article saying Todd Palin would be 44 Saturday giving him a birth date of 6 Sept 1964. If so, he is all earth and water and his Sun-Pluto-Uranus falls on Sarah’s unaspected Uranus-Pluto. His birth place is listed on wiki as Dillingham, Alaska.
here’s the link to webpage for the article: http://tiny.cc/Gwof1
Have fun!
