USA’s Scorpio Rising chart: a “hidden square”

usa-scorpio-asc-221-pm.jpg

The more I use this chart with its 2:21 pm time of ‘birth’ the more sense it makes.

Astrologer *Michael O’Reilly has championed it as THE natal chart for America while I had been using it for intell agencies and clandestine shenanigans (Scorpio = spies, detectives, etc.)

But America has had all four hooves in such operations since her beginning so I’ve been experimenting with this chart as her birth chart and it works for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that Scorpio’s bird is the eagle and we use the American eagle as our animal ‘totem’ or emblem.

Rather than the Libran ‘Scales of Justice’ at Midheaven as in the Sibly chart (5:10 pm, Sag Rising) we see here mid-Leo, the Lion’s Point of the zodiac, sign of the natural leader, entertainer, actor, and also the lawyer (so there is a showoff kind of legalism at MC with the Sco chart.)

And with the US’ hundred dollar bill having founder Ben Franklin’s likeness upon it and the clock on Independence Hall shouting out “2:21 pm” behind him, it seems fairly certain that a huge clue has been given modern astrologers by old almanac writer and astrologer, Mr. Franklin.

There are many other interesting features to the Scorpio Rising chart and I will be referring to this Page in future.

But this evening I shall include here only one aspect which appears in any chart we may set for July 4, 1776, no matter the time–and that’s the “hidden square” aspect between Uranus, planet of Freedom and Revolution, and Neptune, the idealist, mystic, dreamer (as in “American Dream”), and deceiver.

A “hidden square” is an aspect of 256 degrees, and indeed, if you use the Vedic Astrology system, you know that it considers aspects by Sign…Gemini is square Virgo…therefore planets in these signs are square one another.

Here I shall quote the excellent Robert Pelletier from his “Planets in Aspect”…you may find it sounds exactly like Miss America and her People…

Uranus SQ Neptune:

“This is a group consciousness that is in constant rebellion, but isn’t quite sure of the reason. Although you feel the oppression of ignorance, you will have to do a lot of hard work to make clear exactly what you’re going to do about it. If you are guilty of rejecting your social obligations, you may refuse to demonstrate your opposition to the corrosive effects of political subversion.

Or you may decide that your professional status and personal security are too much to risk for the sake of that faceless crowd of humanity from which you’ve become detached.

If you do decide to participate, it may be through an intermediary because, you say, “I don’t want to become personally involved since I have so much to lose if I’m discovered.”

This is an understandable position, but it is also indefensible. You would be the first to cry out in anger if your own personal freedom were being taken away. In the past, millions refused to ‘rock the boat’  for fear their own security would be jeopardized. How many of them gained the security of a roof over their heads–in prisons, detention camps, and the like?

If freedom is truly important to you, then you must have the courage to fight for it.

Lacking the courage of Uranus, you have consented to live in bondage at the hands of leaders who lust for power and who consider you expendable. On the other hand, you can challenge those who abuse their leadership positions and demand that they be held accountable to everyone for their deeds.

You have the ability to arouse others and stimulate them to action when mere words will not suffice. If you cannot personally supervise the action against oppressive conditions, you can at least support those who will.

Your future objectives are always weakened by a tendency to take a laissez-faire attitude toward the political motivation of existing government officials. You cannot afford to relax to this danger.

This combination occurred between 1952–1956; anyone born during that period of time will have this combination.”

Hopefully, Mr. Pelletier will pardon my use of his text and I certainly can recommend his book very highly to you if you don’t use it already.

I was especially struck by the political references in his interpretation of this aspect and although he’s interpreting a square (90 degrees), you’d have to be politically and astrologically tone deaf not to hear America’s current ‘freedom vs security’, ‘isolation/laissez-faire’ issues, and the hold-them-accountable crisis with which we grapple and complain about ad nauseum today.

Well…some of us grapple and complain. And, as Robert says: at least support those who do.

“Thieves & vultures” indeed. I see that gang members are serving in the military in Iraq. What does this mean for our security? What does this mean when these men come home? I think this has frightening potential.

No argument here, Michael, and thanks for your comment.

Some of the thieves and vultures are based elsewhere though…and with our unaspected Pluto natally (no matter which US chart one uses) they’ve been our secret masters all along…and our intelligence agencies (Pluto on another level) have always operated outside the People’s knowledge or consent. Perhaps they once had the common good in mind…now? not so much.

Thing is, the secret powers’ driving motives may have morphed through the years into the Orwellian nightmare we are in process of seeing unfold before our incredulous eyes–and revolutions have been gerrymandered all along and backed by men who use the innocent as their pawns.

Without politicians, few peoples en masse would go to war, and if they did, it wouldn’t be to the extent of “world wars” would it?

Wish it weren’t so, but there it is. We’ve been had but good.

I use to think the USA was Gemini ASC, but, today, I know the USA is Scorpio. It is all about you have and desire in this country, Tau/Sco polarity. Other countries influenced by Scorpio are moving in. We seem to be obsessed with taxes. Pluto is the way of the world. We also are represented by the Eagle, Scorpio. We have are noses in everyone else’s business and the people in our country or people who are citizens act as though we owe them. Also, we have become a natuions of thugs, low-life and gangsters in which this “great” country was built on : Thieves & Vultures.
