SOTU 2012: Sun AQ/Moon AQ

Televised at 9:00 pm est tonight, January 24, 2012, is President Obama’s State of the Union Address for 2012. Read my just-published astrological conclusions at Stars Over Washington, if you wish–the SOTU 2012 horoscope shows Mars Rx rising in Virgo, sign of The Worker, and denotes the president’s current Mars Return.

SOTU 2012 will be delivered under the Air-Air influence of a Sun Aquarius-Moon Aquarius blend which indicates mental focus, gregariousness, and a detached friendliness. The AQ/AQ blend is idealistic, helpful, and very observant yet can operate as ‘a law unto itself’. (Well, these are politicians we’re talking about here!)

Sun AQ/Moon AQ is shared natally by a US president: William McKinley, and has three Images for Integration, one of which may remind you of President Obama’s popularity in Europe and elsewhere:

“A friend to all the world looks in the mirror and takes time out to befriend herself…The living, breathing entity we call society…The Jolly Green Giant.” (Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Charles & Suzi Harvey.)

Now I can imagine Mr. Obama using the word “society” during SOTU 2012 but I’m not certain where Green Giant canned peas can possibly come in! Well, except for Americans who can’t afford a can of peas or much else to serve tonight for their children’s dinners…

And no president’s rhetoric will ever be a substitute for that.

Gandhi on true democracy

“My notion of democracy is that under it the weakest shall have the same opportunities as the strongest…no country in the world today shows any but patronizing regard for the weak… Western democracy, as it functions today, is diluted fascism…true democracy cannot be worked by twenty men sitting at the center. It has to be worked from below, by the people of every village.”  Gandhi

So much for Bush’s touted ‘democracy’!

Born in Porbandar, India on Oct 2, 1869 (NS), at 7:11:48 am  LMT (-4:38; Hour of Jupiter, the Guru and wise teacher), Mohandas Gandhi  has Sun 8Lib56 in 12th house (a politician’s placement!), and Moon 19Leo59 in 10th house of Public Status.

Gandhi and America share a North Node position, his 5Leo42 in 10th house. (Ben Kingley’s NN is 7Leo01 and is the only conjunction I see between their natal charts.)

The ‘live-wire’ Air-Fire blend of Sun Lib-Moon Leo is full of playfulness, great kindness, gentility, and quick wit. Nobility and an ethical conscience are brought to public service, although there can be a stubborn refusal to admit personal limitations.

A decided streak of theatricality along with vivaciousness marks this visionary and religious blend.  A passionate idealist, this combo is in love with the beautiful and noble idea, yet huffiness may appear if pride is wounded – a liking for flattery doesn’t include empty adulation.

A natural talent for diplomacy combined with dramatic skills make for a charismatic political or social leader, an adored teacher, and a respected and well-loved friend.

‘Images for Integration:  A political idealist is crowned leader by adoring followers…A performance of  The Importance of Being Earnest.’ (‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Chas & Suzi Harvey.)

Gandhi left for England just before his 19th birthday (did I hear someone say, ‘Nodal Return’?) in 1888 where he studied law and lived on bread and spinach until he located an Indian restaurant just before he starved to death. He was a strict vegetarian, you know, and had a thing about salt.

Here’s a link to a site about the Richard Attenborough film, ‘Gandhi’ (1982) starring Ben Kingsley (now Sir Ben), where you’ll find a few videos and a trailer from the film:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083987/

Perhaps I’m incorrect, but I do think Attenborough has been knighted by Queen Elizabeth as well. Or was that David? But let’s get back to Gandhi…

Assassinated by a Hindu gunman, Nathuram Godse, on Jan 30, 1948 in Delhi, India, Mohandas Gandhi lives on larger-than-life and is noted primarily in the West for his strong belief in non-violence (ahimsa.)

Gandhi’s life story is very interesting if you get a chance to read about him, for with times like these – in the West and the East – the world can use all the ahimsa it can get.

Gandhi was once asked what he thought about ‘western civilization’ and he said he thought it would be a very good idea. Well, we’re still working on that and have been set back considerably by jingoist war-mongers who wage war for their own profit and political gainery…and they’ll tell all the lies it takes to promote it, too.

And now, one more quote from the man which may sound even more familiar to most people than the one this post began with, and is food for thought for anyone aspiring toward evolving out of the reptilian stage of existence…

“Hate the sin and love the sinner.”  Mohandas Gandhi

My question: When is speaking out not enough, oh United Nations?

Saturn now opposing Uranus symbolizes the Palestinian and Israeli
conflict and in a larger sense, the Middle East itself.

The present cycle began with their Great Conjunction of 1988 and
now culminates with their opposition, the 'Full Moon' stage in their
dance~cycle~orbit.

Now here are four quotes nabbed from my Sun-Moon blend notes, quotes
which may apply on multiple levels to the current endlessly retaliatory
situations in which the world is mired and which are being egged on
and/or orchestrated by cynical and self-serving politicians and the
crime syndicates they belong to:

Sun Cap-Moon Libra: 'Which requires the greater strength, letting go
or restraining? It is the greatest manifestation of power to be calm.'

Vivekananda

Sun AQ-Moon Libra: 'As for the men in power, they are so anxious to
establish the myth of infallibility that they do their utmost to
ignore truth.'

Boris Pasternak

Sun AQ-Moon Sco: 'Politics, as a practice, whatever its professions,
has always been the systematic organization of hatreds.'

Henry Brook Adams

And last, but most definitely not least:

Sun Pis-Moon Virgo: 'Without forgiveness life is governed by...
an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation.'

Roberto Assagioli #

Forgiving the unforgivable. Now there's a cause worth promoting.

John Cusack social activist and actor

Which to list first when describing Mr. Cusack…social activist or actor?

My feeds don’t seem to update very quickly in the sidebar here for Stars Over Washington (sorry, Jilly!) so here’s a link to a fresh post concerning the actor-activist who sometimes blogs at Huffington Post. My post contains a link to an article by Cusack about paying off the debt now that the national piggybank has been ransacked by bandits and thieves on their way out of Washington.

Natally, John Cusack’s Sun is in creative Cancer with Moon in intense Scorpio, so you may wish to check out a few astrological details about his natal chart by clicking this link, and be sure to read his article on our financial situation:

Today’s Sun Libra-Moon Aquarius 10.9.08

Today, Oct 9, 2008, there’s a spirit of cooperation in the air as Sun in Libra, Moon in Aquarius – both mental Air signs – create a sense of fraternity and friendliness.

The Wachovia Wars are on hold today as a ‘truce’ is called between the financial suitors of this Charlotte NC-based bank.

NPR has announced that Hank Paulson is to give help once again to the ailing AIG, and of course, we’re expecting the coordinated interest rate cut by six central banks yesterday to give some cushion to the mess the world’s financial ‘experts’ caused, if not right away, then soon.

Sun Libra-Moon Aquarius may not be the most practical of combinations but it cannot be accused of bad intentions. There’s a natural sense of justice and social conscience which is sadly lacking in the more material types such as those found on Wall Street (or more fairly I should say those who pull the strings on Wall Street.)

Belonging to the human family, forgiveness, and being open to new ideas are pluses of this blend though emotions are somewhat detached – perhaps a good thing after all the emotional agony of the last weeks, for generally speaking, today’s emotional climate should be calmer and more rational. I hope so for the world can imagine itself into more of a quandary than things have to be – things need to calm down!

And speaking of “imagine” Sun Libra-Moon AQ is the natal Sun-Moon blend of John Lennon. The refined artisitic tastes and love of truth and beauty of this combo can be seen in Lennon’s personality – and personally I still count it as a grave loss to the world that he was assassinated – and in tandem with the 1980/81 Great Conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn (5 – 10 Libra; Dec 31, 1980; Mar 3, 1981; July 24, 1981.) Jupiter and Saturn are the societal planets and are intimately involved with financial cycles.

Sun Libra-Moon AQ is an idealistic and communicative combo with a universal point of view which will hopefully give us all a bit of a break from the roller coaster rides we’ve been on of late, and I’ve heard that today the market in NY is set to open on a high since IBM affirmed its positive outlook. That it may keep it all day is another tale, but hopefully things will be calmer before Friday’s big meeting of financial wizards in New York.

From Charles and Suzy Harvey’s ‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ we see two interesting Images for Integration for combining left and right brains thus using this blend to advantage:

“A group of literary radicals stage a love-in to protest government military policy…In an elegant opera house, a trendy jazz musician performs a rag time with a symphony orchestra.”

Michelle Obama: Cap-AQ

‘Sun and Moon of Michelle Obama’ is freshly published here if you’re interested in taking a peek at the elegant lady’s personality blend:

http://starsoverwashington.blogspot.com/2008/08/sun-and-moon-of-michelle-obama.html

Well, ‘the working mother’ archetype was all the rage last evening in Denver, wasn’t it? As the Cancerian Moon decreed…wonder how fussy the Cancerian Moon will become tonight as Hillary Clinton speaks – but not as the keynote speaker, that honor falls into Mark Warner’s lap.

Here’s a link to an NPR article about Michelle Obama’s DNC speech and how it emphasized American values:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93959664

Now what else could or would she emphasize? But there may be a more complex flavor to her tradition-respecting Capricorn Sun…click the Sun-Moon link above to read a brief tidbit.

NPR has reported at noon that threats against Barack Obama have been made concerning his Thursday address…exactly the window of time worth fretting about…scroll below…

It’s political thespians on grand display, Y’all, beginning with a 3rd quarter Moon, the ‘crisis in consciousness’ stage of developmental evolution. Or you could simply gaze up at Luna’s moonglow and let her beams wash over you while pondering the ultimate destiny of America…
