Nov 28 2013: a Comet ISON outburst and US Moon-Saturn conjoin by Progression

This alert is a day late but concerns the current condition of
Comet ISON:

Space Weather News for Nov. 14, 2013

COMET ISON OUTBURST: Observers around the world are reporting
a sharp increase in the brightness of sun diving Comet ISON.
Formerly dim, it is now on the threshold of naked-eye visibility.
Comet ISON is plunging toward the sun for a perilous pass through
the solar atmosphere on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 28th). #

November 28, 2013 is Thanksgiving Day and also a date of astrological
significance for the American people, with We the People represented by
the Moon in mundane charts. For on that date, America's Secondary
Progressions show a conjunction between SP Moon (the public; publicity)
and SP Saturn (authority, control, restriction, delays, Mr. Karma, lawmakers,
managers, courts, status quo, conservatism, government, and business leaders.)

And of course, Secondary Progressions--which are determined from the natal
horoscope and set for a particular date--denote our evolutionary process
thus far, and, many astrologers say, describe the physical plane of existence
where real-world events may occur and plans may become reality.

The combo of Moon-Saturn relates to ambition, strategy, and direction but
may also indicate emotional depression, feelings of inferiority, deprivation,
and restraint.

If you wish more info on America's Moon-Saturn situation which flavors the
end of 2013, here's my post:

Dec 16 2011 Comet Lovejoy survives its solar plunge!

Well, apparently today the US Congress acted in time to avoid a shutdown of the US government tonight at midnight so that we the people can avoid being extinguished for a while longer–we survived our own ‘solar plunge’ in spite of the massives egos operating and battling for control on Capitol Hill.

The horoscope for that hour and date tonight set for DC shows US natal Neptune 22Vig25 rising, and as you know, Virgo is the sign of Work, Service (including military and police), and Health; plus, the stars of Virgo are very important to the cosmic founding of America and our Ceres-Venus-Columba-goddess archetypes and obsessions (ex: Statue of Liberty.)

Consider Fixed Star Denebola, now @ 22Virgo: keywords: ‘to go against society; against the mainstream’ which seems to me to be just what politicians are conspiring to do when they fiddle faddle around and neglect the creation of employment opportunities and programs that could put Americans back to work and which would help boost the US economy.

Instead we get such frothiness as light bulb efficiency regulations and reaffirmation of our national motto even though it was reaffirmed as recently as 2002.

Yes, it’s time and dime wasting on Capitol Hill! And of course, transit Neptune @ 28AQ is still within orb of US natal Moon (we-the-people) which brought us floods, fraud, and home foreclosures with the resulting homelessness, sense of rootlessness, and loss.

Besides, any chart with Neptune rising describes unstable and/or deceptive conditions so with a rising spiritual, idealistic, and inspired yet confused Neptune, planet of fraud, dissolution, oil-gas-water, and poisons, I hope the megabus bill passed today doesn’t have what’s called “poison pills” hidden secretly in Neptunian fashion within its 2,300 pages.

And with President Obama’s natal Mars (motivation; desire nature; energy ;action principle) veiled by US natal Neptune, can we depend on Mr. Obama to veto what the majority of us don’t want such as indefinite detention? Doubtful–also a Neptunian word.

Anyway, here’s a SpaceWeather News update for you about a comet that avoided being extinguished in spite of all the Sun could do:

Space Weather News Dec 16, 2011

SUNGRAZING COMET SURVIVES: Sungrazing Comet Lovejoy has confounded the experts and survived its close encounter with the sun. Last night, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded amazing movies of the comet entering and exiting the sun’s atmosphere.

Comet Lovejoy’s scorched remnant is now receding from the sun in full view of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. Visit SpaceWeather.com for the latest movies and discussion.

More notes on the July 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse

What’s so special about the sign of The Crab, Cancer? That it is Moon-ruled, self-protective, and canny in business? Home-loving, family-oriented, Mom-hugging, and a little psychic?

With the current June 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse @11Gem02 in force but followed very soon by a Solar Eclipse on July 1, 2011 (America’s early birthday present since it manifests between our nation’s Sun and Jupiter and 3 days prior to July 4th – it’s the first in a new Saros Series!), what factors will be emphasized by its double Cancer message?

If you have natal planets or points within 2 degrees either side of 9Can12, this eclipse will directly affect your your chart on some level but the nearer the orb, the more noticeable the eclipse energy.

Also involved are any opposite planets/points around 7 to 11 Capricorn (relationships may be affected, also a new awareness may dawn), and if you care to widen your Cancerian fishing net further, also consider the squaring degrees and sextiling/trining degrees: 7 to 11 Aries/Libra, and 7 to 11 Virgo/Pisces. The opposing (Cap) and squaring (Ari/Lib) signs are the strongest with the conjunction in Cancer the strongest of all.

Eclipses falling in Tropical Cancer tend to bring up such issues as feelings and emotions, receptivity, imagination, nurturing (and its evil twins, abuse or neglect), deep attachments, and habits that fulfill emotional needs.

And since Cancer and the Moon both are prone to ‘soaking up’ the energy of whatever planet/s they are linked to, any planets in aspect to the eclipse are particularly important and may exhibit a sort of celestial tofu effect.

Naturally with Cancer, concerns about water, flooding, and marine issues may well be tops on the July 1, 2011 eclipse’s agenda for manifestation as well. Sadly, our country is already seeing these effects playing out in the Midwest with the Mississppi and Missouri Rivers overflowing. And with transiting Pluto, planet of atomic power, opposing the July eclipse, we think instantly of the current flooding threats to the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Planet in Nebraska, a new disaster since early Sunday morning’s breach.

For a little Astrology on the topic, you may wish to see this morning’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Breach: Neptune to US Moon? post.

Other Cancerians issues the July 1st eclipse may bring to the surface include food or food supplies, dietary factors, emotional hurts, environmental matters, genealogical information, Real Estate, the Homeland, national and personal security, women’s and children’s issues (such as the SCOTUS decision handed down today about violent video games being “OK” for kids! Eclipses can act early, plus, we’re still under the rays of the June 1st eclipse with Gemini, the sign of young people), and karmic family or other close ties. Joining societies or other organizations may come up for consideration or review as well.

Yes, it’s quite rare for two Solar Eclipses to occur just one month apart and perhaps you’ve been feeling a special, intuitive, or spiritualized shift of energy since June 2011 began for we are now in a window of cosmic eclipse energy which included the June 15, 2011 Lunar Eclipse @ 24Sag23.
Near Athens, Georgia, June 15th was a night of tremendous thunderstorms and high winds with some areas experiencing hail. Such is the pull of Earth’s Moon which rules the tides!

Now if you’d like to check out the July 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse from a more political p.o.v., try Stars Over Washington, my Political Astrology site with a common good slant, where you can view the July 1st horoscope set for Washington DC, and see the restrictive Grand Cross pattern which the chart contains.

Top Jobs for Obama Financial Supporters

Though I’m not surprised and consider this tit-for-tat arrangement to be as old as America herself (as is the obvious hypocrisy involved), I present this article to you in a spirit of keeping a squinty and dissenting eye upon the inhabitants of the White House, no matter their party:

Spoils Of Victory: Obama Financial Suporters Get Top Jobs

By Fred Schulte, John Aloysius Farrell and Jeremy Borden

More than two years after President Obama took office vowing to banish “special interests” from his administration, nearly 200 of his biggest donors have landed plum government jobs and advisory posts, won federal contracts worth millions of dollars for their business interests.

As they say, old boss same as the new!

Plus, you may be interested in reading my brief astro-peek at Michele Bachmann’s natal horoscope published today over at Stars Over Washington.

Effects of Jupiter/Neptune linger

Now I know you remember how Financial Collapse 2008 continued to affect the US and global economies all through 2009, the year of the Great Conjunction/s of the inflationary, undermining, fraudulent, and grandly scheming pair of Jupiter and Neptune especially since the duo’s influences are with us still.

So my hope (Jupiter) is that you’ll waft away (Neptune) by clicking for a review concerning the planetary pair of speculation, fraud, and froth along with a May 27, 2011 video of Bob Chapman discussing our global and US financial circumstances.

That is, if you don’t mind entertaining a few brief astro-details concerning finances in the 1930s and Adolf Hitler.

Mubarak steps down under rays of Jan 2011 Solar Eclipse!

Mubarak Steps Down: World’s Grandest Party Erupts in Egypt!

by Jude Cowell

Much of my posting these days has been on my Political Astrology blog, Stars Over Washington, yet I want to mention here the predictive eclipse work of expert astrologer Celeste Teal (Moon Valley Astrologer) within the context of the amazing 18-Day Revolution in Egypt which has, a few hours ago, forced the step down of dictator and President Hosni Mubarak.

First my happy congratulations to the good people of Egypt! May the processes now set in motion result in your independence from despotic rulership and may well-deserved social justice finally be yours.

Celeste Teal’s predictions are found in her book Eclipses: Predicting World Events & Personal Transformation and I must say, the book lives up to its title.

January 4, 2011 brought the world a Solar Eclipse @ 13Cap39 (in 2nd house when set for Washington DC at a crisiscritical degree; 13 North Series); she titles the eclipse: “The Balance of Power”!

(For doubters of Astrology I add that her book was published in 2006.)

Quoting in part from Ms. Teal’s analysis of the Jan 4, 2011 Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, sign of government (authority), law, and business:

“…potential for a central event having wide-range impact; eclipse in degree of Fixed Star Manubrium = flaring heat. A turbulent spirit against those in high places. For USA, eclipse falls over the Sun: US adminstration and government crucially linked to larger world affairs. There is potentially powerful opposition to overcome. For the US, eclipse in 2nd H of earning power and expenditures: obstacles, legislative delays; trade (Suez Canal? jc) and labor restricted. Emphasis for NYC, NYSE, the UN, Phoenix, Japan, Russia, and the US.”

History is occurring before our very eyes as Egypt throws off her oppressive shackles and the Egyptian military takes over the reigns of power at least until elections in September 2011. Jubilance and celebration have overtaken this ancient land!

Now here are a few links to previous posts (including this morning as I heard the glad tidings on LINK TV bwo al Jazeera News, and later, the excellent reporting of Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman.

Joy in Egypt as Mubarak Steps Down Feb 11, 2011 (contains image of Hosni Mubarak’s natal horoscope with last evening’s transits: Saturn Rx 17Lib01 conjunct Mc);

Egypt’s progressed chart Jan 2011 with a YOD pattern of crisis and a turning point which points toward the Moon (the people); contains images of Egypt’s 1922 and 1953 natal charts;

New and Full Moons of February 2011 (contains image of New Moon chart of Feb 2 ’14AQ” and brief details on the upcoming Full Moon of February 18th @ 29Leo20, conjoining a Fixed Star which links to Egypt and the Middle East: Regulus);

2011 brings 4 Solar and 2 Lunar Eclipses (shows horsocope of the Jan 4, 2011 Solar Eclipse set for DC with details on other 2011 eclipses, and lots of other details as well.)

So will the success of Egypt’s 18-Day Revolution affect positively the dire conditions in the region due to the siege of Gaza? Is America’s use of the Suez Canal now in danger of blockage along with other strategic and political problems?

The implications are mulitple and unknown at this early juncture yet setting aside the corporate interests of the West for a moment, the interests of the people of Egypt must be lifted above all other considerations today in honor of a grand and astounding accomplishment.

Power to the People!

Now if we can just get back some of that People Power in plutocrat-ruled America.

Will Mubarak run to Germany for better treatment?

Der Spiegel reports that Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak may soon retreat to a clinic in Germany’s Black Forest for “medical treatment”.

He must be fairly wumped out by now.

Yes, Mubarak has visited Germany before but considering his people’s call for his ouster NOW, this particular trip may plunk the German government into something of a political dilemma, ya?

Updated today: for Political Astrology content including articles on the uprising in Egypt (showing Egypt’s natal charts of 1922 and 1953 and its progressions for late January 2011 which reveal a YOD pattern of crisis); plus, Ronald Reagan’s legacy now affecting America (including links to Robert Parry’s excellent articles on the Reagan era), you may wish to visit Stars Over Washington. Wintry Thoughts for December 13, 2010

Today is Monday December 13, 2010 and the US is gripped in Winter’s grasp in many regions of our nation with 8 days to go until Winter Solstice 2010. Yes, WordPress’ snowflakes across the page look festive and perfect for the season!

Now no one knows why the muse of bad poetry tends to light rather frequently upon my shoulder. If I could explain it I could probably stop it. But not today for I’m in a holiday mood that begs for snowy expression however minor it may be:

As wintry winds begin to blow
remember Mama told you so
your scarf and mittens are a must
to counter winter’s freezing gust!

jc 2010

And if you have a moment, you’ll find it won’t take a sled but only a simple click to discover my latest science-y/poem-y blog Woolly Mammoth Chronicles where I express in rhyme my personal misgivings about Science’s plan to clone from fossil DNA a long-extinct relic of the Ice Age, the woolly mammoth.

My ‘Odes to a Woolly Mammoth’ are the inexplicable result, plus, Science News links and odd videos are included as well so check it out and answer the woolly mammoth poll, upper right, if you wish to weigh in on the weighty woollie’s proposed return to ‘life’ – or to some Frankensteinian version of it.

Also, your feathers may be ruffled to know that my Political Astrology blog Stars Over Washington was updated this morning concerning the astro-atmosphere on Capitol Hill: this week’s lame duck session is marked by Monday’s Fire-Water combination of The Seeker and The Mystic!

The Winter Solstice 2010 horoscope is there as well: see sidebar for Top Ten SO’W posts which is where you’ll find my December 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse article with chart image, too.

Hope you keep your feathers dry and warm! jc

Inauguration 2009’s Solar Return chart 2010

After returning from my trip to Raleigh, NC for Christmas holidays, I wanted to post something useful concerning the presidency of Barack Obama, his first year as leader of the free world, and the upcoming year ahead. How’s that presidency gig going?, we have a right to ask.

What better than a Solar Return – his presidency’s first birthday – when the Sun (‘leader’) returns to its degreee in the Inauguration 2009 chart?

If you’ve landed on this blog before, you may know that my Stars Over Washington feed is found in the sidebar to your left so you can always check out my last post or two at SO’W.

Or if you wish to view Inauguration 2009’s Solar Return 2010 chart with details more directly, you may simply click here and you’ll be whisked away by technology’s magic to a different landscape where politics and politicians squirm under the lens of Astrology as written just for you by only me.

Now you don’t have to speak astrologese to read my Political Astrology articles (or anyone else’s), yet of course it helps. However, I do try to write them in English for those who don’t speak the language so try it, you might like it! And…

Happy New Year, Everyone! Jude

Obama born w/ Pluto square US natal Uranus!

As I studied charts this morning for a Stars Over Washington post on the signing of the Treaty of Paris, Sep 3, 1783 and the Freemasonic flavor of it, I ran across something I had meant to blog about previously but don’t think I ever have…the fact that President Obama’s natal Pluto 6Vir59 squares America’s natal Uranus 8Gem55.

As you know, squares (90 degr) represent obstacles and blockages and can indicate being blindsided; Uranus is individuality, rebellion, freedom, and eccentricity, while Pluto is power, transformation, and coping ability.

If we look to the Uranus/Pluto square as what it is – a transit to America’s 1776 natal chart in *1961, we find something interesting in relation to the president’s current dealings and concerns:

Transit Pluto SQ n Uranus: political and economic structures and institutions are under fire from powerful people who threaten to restrict or withhold resources needed for the institutions to function.

Does this sound like precisely what President Obama is dealing with as he moves to restrict CEO pay and bonuses of bailed-out institutions along with other financial and political considerations? Plus, the refusal of big bankers to lend to small businesses!

Mr. Obama could be the withholder or others may be since Astrology is an AC-DC system where energy can flow in either or both directions simultaneously!

Imo, the president should be the restrictor in this situation and I hope he carries out the threat to lower the above-all-reason pay and bonus packages of the companies the US taxpayers rescued against our better judgement.

*Barack Obama: Aug 4, 1961 7:24 pm AHST, Honolulu, Hawaii; ASC 18AQ03.
