A Handspun-Dyed Yarn Shop opens!

Woof! My daughter Maya’s handspun and hand-dyed fiberista work has expanded into a new location for her Springtree Road Yarn Shop.

Now bigger isn’t always better but in this case, check it out, especially tomorrow when Maya is promising 17 new skeins of Merino and other luscious fibers which she winds into ‘skein patties’ for your special knitting and crocheting projects (unless you direct her otherwise.)

Therefore, I’m waiting to see if she manages to get so many photos of so many new skeins published in her Shop by Thursday’s end.

And no, I wouldn’t dare bet against my Maya!

Fiber Arts rule: new Etsy yarn shop opens

alpaca June 2009

Knitting is a sign that civilization is alive, and my daughter Maya’s Etsy Shop is really starting to rock like a store since it opened this week with handspun yarns and more.

You see here Maya’s photo of an alpaca, taken near Atlanta, GA in June 2009.

Why, Hello There, You!

Alpacas have so much…personality…in their faces, don’t you think?

When not busy photographing her environment, Maya spins and dyes Merino wool and other squishy fibers into skeins of magical beauty which now await the calm, happy clicking of knitting or crocheting needles of your choice.

You know, a cozy scarf for Autumn would be nice, thanks, if you have a chance to get busy. And don’t worry about the size, just send it along!

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel are essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…
