McCain-Palin perfect ticket for Iran

Having just read a thoughtful, insightful article, ‘Ahmadinejad Wants McCain and Palin in the White House,’ by Sam Sedaei at Huffington Post, I give its link here in hopes that anyone considering putting McCain-Palin and their warmongering rhetoric into the Oval Office will pause long enough to read this article from one who knows whereof he speaks:

Bush-Cheney in 2004 made Iran’s mullahs So Happy – will you make them jump for joy in 2008?

You know America helped Iran establish its nuclear program over 30 years ago when our puppet, the Shah, was ruling Iran, a country that hasn’t attacked another nation in 100 years!

Too bad America can’t say anything like the same, and Bush-Cheney-McCain-Palin are spoiling for fights before breakfast.

Dr Paul Craig Roberts on Bush-Cheney, Iran, and 9/11

The ‘Father of Reaganomics’ is interviewed on the neocon’s wish to nuke Iran, 9/11 as an assault on our civil liberties, and more in an interview conducted by Kathy Sanborn:

Cat from Iran: a limerick

There once was a cat from Iran

who got hot and turned on a fan

it wasn’t enough

to cool off his fluff

so atoms were split in Tehran.

He worked long and hard on the splits

while George threw incompetent fits

by acting so proud

no weapons allowed

or sanctions will come in a blitz.

So who gave the arms race it’s start?

who played the gargantuan part?

America’s clout

could take the world out

but that wouldn’t be very smart.

war cats out of bag again?

Everyone seems to be aware of this state secret so you and I may as well know about it…and Washington probably wants the info to get out that it’s brandishing a big stick while limping softly…

‘A Secret Afghanistan Mission Prepares for War with Iran,’ says a Washington Post article by William M. Arkin May 9, 2008:

Those predicting war with Iran or some Bush-Cheney October surprise attack on Tehran are constantly looking for signs of military preparations: a B-52 bomber that mistakenly takes off from North Dakota with nuclear-armed cruise missiles; a second or third aircraft carrier entering the Persian Gulf; a B-1 crashing in Qatar.

Since the most likely path to war with Iran is not Marines storming the beach but a strike on nuclear facilities and “regime” targets, signs such as these can often just be mirages. The true strike is not necessarily going to come with any warning, and the U.S. military has developed an entire system called “global strike” to implement such a preemptive strike. #

If you’ve missed it prior to this very moment, you can read Arkin’s article here:

Thanks go to Citizens for Legitmate Government for the heads-up on this article…LegitGov is a very good watchdog in a wasteland of press sorriness…

So here’s my existential question of the evening: is a watchdog standing guard same as a guard dog standing watch?

What’s the diff? Discuss while letting out the cat.

March 7 2008, NYSE, and the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo

Because oil reached $106 a barrel today, I took a look at the Arab Oil Embargo chart of 1973 which you’ll find here with some notes on today’s transits, 4:00 pm est, NYC:

http://starsoverwashington.blogspot.com/2008/03/mar-7-2008-transits-to-arab-oil-embargo.html along with details on the Embargo’s Eclipse Series, 11 South–which repeats on July 22, 2009.

Please pardon any typos which I will have to correct tomorrow–there’s a large storm system on the way–why it’s even at the door.

Many of the banks are technically insolvent already, hopelessly mired in their own red ink. Public confidence in the nations’ financial institutions has never been lower. Monetary policy and deregulation have failed. The system is self-destructing.

What Would It Take to Launch a War With Iran?
By Bruce Ramsey
“A struggle is under way in Washington, D.C. Those opposed to an attack include Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff. Those wanting an attack, he says, are the deputy national-security adviser for global democracy strategy, Elliott Abrams; Vice President Dick Cheney, “and the hard-line Israel lobby.”

will Bush bomb Iran before he leaves White House?

We the People

Not if enough of us pile on against it. Here you can sign the Stop Bush from Bombing Iran petition if, like me, you think that bombing Iran is a really really really really bad idea–not to mention anti-humanity:

http://pol.moveon.org/noiranwar/o.pl?id=11737-2921267-G6FlPm&t=3

Will Congress listen–or ignore the will of the people once again?

Now I know that the title of this post implies that Bush actually IS leaving the White House come Jan 20, 2009. But considering how his comrades-in-arms in Russia, Pakistan, Venezuela, and elsewhere are lenthening their regimes, it remains to be seen whether we’ll be able to shed this Napoleon wanna-be or not.

His policies, bad decisions, and underminings will linger, but perhaps his holier-than-thou smirk and lion’s crossed eyes finally, after eight long long years, will fade from our tv screens–if not from our national nightmares.
