And Art appears: Hermesia!

Look, it’s mercurial Hermesia thinking of past and future while simultaneously planning to languish about this weekend and get herself in the mood for a cozy hibernating season 2010!

Yet still the curiosity of Mercury’s handmaiden, Hermesia, continues…

Debates of 1858 are long over yet now there may have turned up a photograph of candidate Abraham Lincoln and other notables in Ottawa, Canada.

21 kernels of Candy Corn

Now this is real-time blogging for I’ve just returned home to find a friend has arrived bearing a festive container of Candy Corn.

Candy Corn and I go waay back to the nights when Trick or Treating was safe and all manner of candies might nestle in a wayward corner of your treat bag, perhaps something new and exotic, or maybe only….Candy Corn. Seldom has pure sugar tasted so good than with this treat’s marshmallowy flavor.

Here’s the list of ingredients with their ‘nutrition’ facts per serving of 21 kernels from the batch I’m looking at and nibbling from – that’s 21 kernels, mind:

Calories: 150; fat from cal: 0; Total fat: 0; Saturated fat: 0; Trans fat: 0; Chloresterol: 0mg; Sodium: 55mg; Total carbs: 37; Fiber: 0; Sugars: 27g; Protein: less than 1 gram; Vitamins: 0; Calcium: 0; Iron: 0.

Salty little kernels of sugar, aren’t they? And my 21 limit just got disrespected so I hope dinner isn’t ruined because of a nostalgic concoction invented in the 1880s!

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel is essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…
