Hillary Clinton Oct 26, 1947: Fist of God

Since I’ve never posted this natal chart on Stars Over Washington, I am hereby succumbing to pressure and publishing the most-oft-used natal chart of Senator Hillary Clinton, born Oct 26, 1947, 8:00 pm cst, Chicago, Illinois, and with her Fist of God pattern highlighted.

As you know, 29 degrees is considered a critical or crisis degree for any planet or point. It’s a high frequency, impatient degree that’s in a hurry to rush ahead. If 8:00 pm is indeed her correct birth time, you see 29Gem+ rising, and a 29 degree Moon in 10th house of Career and Public Standing.

HOWEVER–a change of 1 minute–to 8:01 pm–gives a 00Can03 ASC (physical self) which would tally more closely with her round Cancerian face, wouldn’t it? And it doesn’t change the Moon’s degree or much else in the chart.

So this 29 degree Moon is about to reach the Aries Point of Prominence and Fame. Sounds like our gal, doesn’t it? She admits that she’d spent her life getting ready for Jan 20, 2009–for the Oval Office, the highest prominence of all.

Her natal Moon is the focal ‘planet’ of a dynamic Fist of God pattern, yet you won’t find a lot of info on this configuration. I will attempt to give you what I’ve found and we’ll see if it illuminates Clinton’s chart and psyche a little.

A Fist of God patttern was so-named by astrologer Al Epstein, as cited by Nona Gwynn Press in her book, ‘New Insights into Astrology.’ It consists of a square (90 degr) combined with two sesquiquadrates (135 degr).

A square is, of course, a major aspect of dynamic developmental tension which indicates internal blockages or obstacles–and without them few people would stir themselves to produce anything useful at all.

(fyi: a few years ago I was awakened from a lucid dream about Astrology with these words being whispered in my ear: “Squares form due to essential quests.”  Take this with a grain of sandman’s dust, if you prefer.)

Sesquiquadrates (sesquisquares) are minor aspects indicating “the apex of interfunctional activity culminating in a dramatic and intense release of dynamic energies.” (‘The Astrology of Relationship,’ Michael R. Meyer.)

They are considered weak squares and thus are developmental in nature–perhaps on an even deeper psychological level for they are actually two interlaced squares. They urge toward dynamic self-expression and the promotion of one’s ideas.

Obviously Politics as a profession is a perfect outlet for this energy and Hillary’s two sesquisquares are pointing toward her publicity hound Moon (the public) in the oh-so-visible 10th house.

Somewhat similar to the YOD (aka the Finger of God, a special task or crisis configuration with an easier sextile as its base), the Fist of God, says Epstein, is even more likely to manifest externally than a YOD might.  I suspect that a YOD is more of a choice situation although you’d do better to listen to the call when it comes!

And since Clinton’s pattern involves some difficult energies at its base–her powerful Mars-Pluto conjunction in showy Leo, squaring Chiron conj Venus in intense Scorpio, her determination to interact with and push ideas upon the American public (and the world–10th house) is clearly visible in her natal chart bwo her Fist of God pattern.

Yet as with everything in Astrology, all factors describe our inner AND outer worlds–simultaneously or at the time chosen, for that’s the thing Astrology can bring to the table that no other system can–the element of time.

Interestingly, the 29 Scorpio+ Moon in the 2009 Inaugural chart is trine Clinton’s natal Moon in Pisces. Yet the transiting midpoint of Saturn-North Node  is conjunct 2009’s Inaugural Moon…

Saturn-NN= Moon: appealing to senior persons; qualifying for responsibility; a person standing alone in the world; emotional inhibitions; showing precocious maturity (Tyl; Ebertin.)

(That last sounds more like Obama, doesn’t it? But I’m not sure how ‘precocious’ a 40-something can be. Perhaps I should ask still-partying-at-40-something George Bush. He might know.)

Then there’s the fact that Clinton’s natal Jupiter is conjunct the Inaugural Moon so we have…

Saturn-NN = Jupiter: the generation gap; rebellion; freeing oneself from stress; inner joy through sacrificing for others; a fortunate separation from a partner (!); change of place or occupation.

So there we go–a snapshot of Hillary Clinton’s high frequency natal chart with its special pattern of extreme drive toward public work.

And even though the most recent news report I have today is that Obama has regained ground through late returns for last evening’s Texas caucuses, Hillary will not be giving up any time soon–unless the Pennsylvania Primary of April 22 changes her determined mind.

Hmmm…April 22….another chart to study!
