Summer Solstice 2011: Sun Cancer-Moon Pisces

Well, it’s a Water-Water Sun-Moon blend coming up for Summer Solstice 2011 and further natural disasters cannot be ruled out and may definitely include more water-related concerns.

Click above to visit Stars Over Washington where I’ve just published the Summer Solstice 2011 Horoscope with its Political Astrology details. The chart shown is set for the White House; it’s an Hour of Jupiter, posited in 8th house of Shared Resources, Credit, Debt, and Transformation which points to our nation’s current deficit, debt limit, and budgetary issues as they continue into Summer 2011.

More details are included in the post.

A Water-Water combo may easily go misty with emotion and dissolve into tears (reminds me of John Boehner!) and is sentimental and nostalgic about the past. In Politics (which SO’W is all about), it indicates the wetness of compassion rather than the dry doctrinal purity we’re seeing in Washington from the Ayn Rand acolytes such as Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor (and Alan Greenspan, one of the primary architects of our financial misery.)

Water-Water blends also describe those of a ‘wet blanket’ temperament and I, for one, would prefer to see compassion for those in need finally take precedence in Washington over the cold-hearted ones now touting an increase of austerity for the poor and middle class while the rich get an easier ride than ever. Toss the wet blanket over the Ayn Rand-ers, I say! And yet you may disagree if you wish.

Summer Days, Watery Ways

Summer 2011 begins with Sun Cancer-Moon Pisces which is an interesting combo of energies having Moon/Jupiter and Moon/Neptune implications (for me, Pisces is ruled by Jupiter and backed by the higher octave influence of Neptune which adds to inflationary concerns.)

Yet this is an affable, kind-hearted, sensitive, romantic, and whimsical blend but with a tendency to ‘blow with the wind’ a little more than we may wish during these trying days. Yet it contains an uncanny (Cancer) insight into other people and a capacity for speaking encouraging words to those who need them.

The Arts may be on display more than usual this summer, plus, issues of adaptability and diplomacy take center stage. Negatively, there may be suspicion of other people’s motives, a wallowing in self-doubt, and a proneness toward putting people on pedestals (such as Ayn Rand?)

Relating successfully to others may be difficult due to a fear of being hurt or fooled, and daydreaming will be prevalent (most effectively channeled into art or music projects, and/or social services.)

The Sun Cancer-Moon Pisces blend’s “Images for Integration: An artist teaches recuperating patients to paint the images of their dreams in soft water colours…A lone sailboat offshore at sunset…Ol’ man river, he just keeps rolling along’…The musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein.”

(Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Charles and Suzi Harvey.)

The Sun Cancer-Moon Pisces combination appears in the natal chart of author Herman Hesse who instructively said, “If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn’t part of ourselves doesn’t disturb us.”

Now isn’t that a perfect reminder for us all – politicians and partisans definitely included – as Campaign 2012 heats up our Summer of 2011?

Looking ahead to Summer Solstice 2010

It took a few hours but the first part of my post on the Horoscope of Summer Solstice 2010 is now published, if you’d care for a look.

The chart image is enlargeable and set for the White House, June 21, 2010, 7:28:10 am edt, Hour of Saturn 28Vir14 (yet within orb of opposition to Uranus in Aries – more ‘old vs new’ themes, ‘progress vs status quo’ on the way); 21Can34 rises, with chart-ruler Moon 29Lib34 in 4th house, reflecting the difficult and critical home situations, foreclosures, removals, and agricultural and security issues now prevalent in American society. (And in the world, but my version of the Solstice chart is set for DC.)

Transiting Mercury conjoins America’s natal Mars ’22 Gemini’, here in the secretive 12th house, so we have a time of ideas and plans being put into action either by choice or circumstance; someone is giving instructions on how to accomplish a specific goal or task, how to operate machinery, or perhaps they’re giving directions for how to find a certain location.

And the Mercury/Mars hook-up occurs in the Behind-the-Scenes 12th house of Politics.

Some of us may notice a pressing need to travel during the summer, and maybe for long distances since the Jupiter/Uranus pair are conjunct Mc and in 9th house. Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions indicate travel opportunities and, of course, we expect a US President to have plenty of those.

Also, space travel and/or planetary discoveries may be very prominent during the summer months as well with Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions timing ‘scientific breakthroughs’ whenever they meet about every 14 years.

Their first-of-three Great Conjunctions occurs on June 8, 2010 @ 00Ari18, and the Summer Solstice 2010 chart shows Uranus still conjunct the AP degree, with faster-moving Jupiter @ 1Ari47 – yet both planets will return to the deep waters of Pisces.

Mercury/Mars = debates, energized thinking, plans made real, demonstrations, bus drivers, telephones, and such:

Additionally, communications and tech equipment, vehicle sales and purchases, and sports paraphenalia are involved in some of the business transactions which may occur when Mercury transits natal Mars; plus, thoughts may be a little on the grumpy side causing heated discussions behind doors, and (possibly secret?) units may be shipped out for service abroad – or at home.

So what else is new, right? Yet to dissent is to be American! I only wish US political ‘debates’ were actually debates, don’t you?

And besides, grumpiness isn’t unusual these days with all that’s going wrong or fraudulent, especially if we’re talking Washington, DC, my old stomping ground of many moons ago.

Well, okay now, hold on to your footed PJs, for here come the ‘Images for Integration’ of Summer Solstice 2010’s Sun Cancer-Moon Libra blend:

‘Mother Goose recites a poem, surrounded by adoring fairy-tale creatures…A family holds a lucrative sale of its artistic heirlooms to the neighborhood.’ (‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Charles and Suzi Harvey.)

~:~

Dare I mention the name of a mere mortal man who happens to share the Sun Can-Moon Lib blend in his birth chart? It’s the infamous streetfighter, George W. Bush – reading ‘My Pet Goat’ into the pages of history.

And if W’s name should come up in the news for a particular reason during Summer 2010, you can think again, if you wish, about his role in Florida on the morning of 9/11/01, and about the ‘lucrative’ deals his crime family members have made and prospered by for hundreds of years.

Or not. So that you may better enjoy your summer!

Summer Solstice 2009 then New Moon 1Can30

Yes, it’s true. The day after Summer Solstice 2009 (June 21) is a New Moon 1Can30 (June 22, 3:34:54 pm edt in Washington, DC…post is written with a squinty eye on Politics.)

To view both the Solstice chart and the New Moon chart, check out my post at Stars Over Washington – chart details are included.

Not included are notes on June’s conjunction of Sun with asteroid Vesta, which indicates a highlighting (Sun) of Vesta principles such as: recognition through one’s career – or frustration if it’s not forthcoming, exploring new outlets for creativity, and confidence and joy in doing things well.

Speculation, promotions and sales campaigns, job promotions, children’s activities, relationships, and health issues may also be featured with Sun/Vesta and naturally these things are affected by the sign of the conjunction – in this case it’s Cancer, sign of mother, home, homeland, security issues, and domestic concerns (including products used in the home.)

We may hear our germanesquely-named ‘Homeland Security’ Department mentioned or promoted in the news in coming weeks but hopefully it won’t be required to swing into action.

In the New Moon chart, I’ve also notated on the chart image but didn’t mention in the text, that there’s an obsessive-compulsive quindecile aspect (165 degr) between Mars and the Ascendant.

Mars QD Asc signifies that anger, aggression, and resentment may be prominent; physical assertion can get what one wants; positively, it indicates working hard for the benefit of others. (‘Quindecile’ by Ricki Reeves.)

But wait till you see the condition of radical reformer Uranus, very busy as the apex planet in a dissociate T-square with the Sun/Pluto opposition!

Cardinal Crosses of 2010-12~Mayan Calendar

When astrologer and writer Jessica Murray covers the Cardinal Cross formations dialing up on our planetary menu, you go away full of insight and armed with valuable information to ‘get you through.’

Much has been written about the series of Cardinal Crosses which begin forming a few days after Summer Solstice 2010 and involving The Awakener Uranus squaring (‘blocking’ = 90 degr) he of the Invisible Helmet and ultimate riches – Pluto, as they form a 1st quarter aspect (‘crisis in action’ phase) to one another after their mid-60s Conjunction near the mid-degrees of Virgo.

But please let Ms. Murray clue you in to her take on this pattern, astrologers’ responses to it and how to aid the collective, and the pattern’s tie-in with the Mayan Calendar’s 2012 significance.

And if you’re an astrology student or a practicing astrologer, Ms. Murray’s words of encouragement speak to the heart of the matter during these transitional, sand-shifting times.

In fact, if you have a paradigm that wants shifting, you’re living in the right era for it as hyper-aware individual (Uranus) and collective unconscious (Pluto) blindside (square) one another off and on into 2012.

So don’t delay your read, for the Great Cosmic Clock is set to alarm us into new consciousness which many people had first hints about during 1987’s Harmonic Convergence in Aquarius bwo the work of Jose Arguelles.

What’s so Grand about a Grand Cross?

Well, ‘Grand Cross’ patterns in outgoing Cardinal signs (Ari/Lib;Can/Cap) refer to the agitation of four squares which form a square or ‘box’ shape in a chart, and which contain much tension and energy that spurs us into action, sometimes over-hastily so that failure seems to be a result of ‘bad timing.’

Staying power to follow through with projects and activities is not a strong suit of Cardinal Grand Crosses and the two oppositions created indicate challenges from others – external challenges – that require us to be consistent in our efforts and reliable toward others.

And while single-minded ambition may bring success through the directed, controlled use of the tremendous energy of the Grand Cross (es), head-on conflicts are possibilities particularly when the patterns are exact or near exactitute (1 to 2 degr), making these excitable days indeed.

Planning and forethought may be difficult but will increase our chances for preferred outcomes; tackling one objective at a time is good advice if I type so myself. Hopefully we won’t let our frustrations get the better of us and react prematurely.

A time of a Cardinal Grand Cross may be seen as a period of opportunity along with the energy needed to effect major changes – they are times when we may each, and collectively, reinvent our lives.
