Poll: should Geithner serve time?

Update March 16, 2010: Well, few seem ready to try or send Tim Geithner to jail over financial improprieties according to the results of this poll so far. But you, lone reader, may still vote if you wish, and leave a comment if you will!

The cat’s out of the bag! As it turns out, former NY-Fedster Timothy Geithner knew very well that Lehman Brothers’ were ‘cooking the books’ and engaging in massive amounts of fraud prior to their controversial bankruptcy filing by using ‘creative bookkeeping’ and such.

Here’s an article by Mike Whitney detailing the shortcomings of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geitner and you may wish to check it out before you cast your vote.

In fact, I’d recommend reading it anyway, poll or no poll. Feel free!

Poll: how did Conan do?

Last evening the helm of The Tonight Show was taken over by Conan O’Brien who had to jog from NY to California to get there.

All in all, I thought Conan did a great job, the new studio set was bright, colorful, and had a fresh look, and Will Ferrell as First Guest was Will Ferrell Funny if a little up-stagey.

But enough about me…how do You think Conan did?

Update June 3: so far ‘Great as expected’ is ahead! Have you voted yet?

Elizabeth de la Vega on Prosecuting Torture

You won’t want to miss Robert Ellman’s interview with former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega who favors public inquiry over President Obama’s appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the Bush administration’s secret and not-so-secret torture policies.

What’s the hurry? Ms. de la Vega points out that the statutory clock didn’t start ticking in 2002 but on Jan 20, 2008, noon edt.

This makes me wonder if those who insist on rushing into an investigation by special prosecutor are more interested in a cover-up than in full accountability for the Bush administration.

Please answer this poll, if you will:

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel is essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…
