SpaceX Dragon to ISS as Nodal Dragon Turns

Now astrologers are accustomed to speaking of the Dragon’s Head and Dragon’s Tail to describe the Nodal axis of the Moon (Head = North Node, Tail = South Node) and in Western Astrology, we denote the NN to be ‘Jupiterian’ and associative, with the SN as ‘Saturnian’ and separative. There’s more to it than that, of course, but there’s the astro-gist.

Guess that’s why a minute ago it caught my attention that SpaceX’s capsule is called ‘Dragon’ and a ‘Rendezvous’ resonates perfectly with the ‘meetings/encounters’ effect of the North Node!

Space Weather News for May 24, 2012

DRAGON RENDEZVOUS: As SpaceX’s Dragon capsule approaches the International Space Station for a historic docking on May 25th, amateur astronomers have been taking pictures of the two spaceships converging. Their photos and more information about the Dragon-ISS rendezvous are highlighted on today’s edition of SpaceWeather News.

~:~

Checking a horoscope for May 25, 2012, NN 5Sag04 with the Dragon’s Tail (SN) conjunct the Sun @ 4-5 Gemini (which places NN conjunct Earth.) Plus, Sagittarius is ruled by expansive Jupiter who loves to explore and discover.

Now as you know, Air sign Gemini is one of the ‘travel’ signs and rules communications of all sorts. When Sun conjoins SN (a karmic condition where what is sowed will be reaped), we find limits (SN/Saturn) to one’s power potential (Sun), and possibly a denial of the fruits of one’s efforts; ambition may be thwarted by the actions of others.

However, there may also be evident a complete mastery of whatever one has opportunity to command so hopefully the Dragon-ISS docking will experience the second condition on May 25th rather than the first!

Round-up of Outer Planet Cycles

My friend Mandi Lockley has put together a collection of links to her insightful articles on Outer Planet Cycles into well-organized sections so that you can easily find the planetary pairs, their aspects, and dates.

You know the ones: Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto so far away, but with Jupiter and Saturn joining in the dance of energies, too.

So thank you, Mandi! Your artcle on the current opposition between the societal pair, Jupiter in Pisces and Saturn in Virgo, tells it like it is!

And with Jupiter’s southern ring fading into oblivion these last few weeks, we can hardly tread too gingerly around the Great Beneficent’s fat toes, can we?

Jupiter is very jolly and spiritual in its own sign of Pisces, the sign of clouds, veils, and mysteries, and scientists say that perhaps the ring is being covered by some high floating clouds and will return to our view real soon. Or whenever.

Hmmm…think I’ll see what New Scientist is saying about the puzzling occurrence which, btw, has happened before. Perhaps NS investigators are already on the Case of the Planet’s Disappearing Ring.

I say, Follow him and see where he goes…oh that’s right – Jupiter is in Pisces now but is headed toward a rendezvous with Uranus @ Aries Point 00Ari18 on June 8, 2010! AP is one of the four World Points of Manifestation and Prominence and we could sure use a bright solution for repairing the oily gash in Mother Nature’s side that BP saw fit to gamble on.

Wonder if the offending concrete that Halliburton used was frugally purchased from China? If so, it may have been made with chalk dust or with something else concrete-y looking that’s weak and disappointing…and shipped pronto to the US.

Now sometimes an event is in the news which can be described by a certain Sabian Symbol (word picture for each of the 360 degrees of a circle or horoscope) and which we hear over and over again…so how about this fiasco?

Quoting from Marc Edmund Jones’ ‘The Sabian Symbols in Astrology’:

‘6 Gemini’ = “Drilling for Oil”…SPECULATION…

positive expression: achievement through an exceptional concentration or specialization of effort;

negative/unconcious/shadow side: foolish gambling and ill-considered self-exploitation. #

Now I just checked ‘6Gem’ in Dane Rudhyar’s ‘An Astrologoical Mandala’ and there’s nothing for it but to type it for you here because it seems very apt for our times. I might also mention that ‘6Gem’ is where Pan hangs about these days causing ‘panics’ and indulging in trickeries of the mind and senses (Gemini) – the mercurial Mr. Rudhyar is on the mark here:

“This symbol superficially considered can be referred to the insatiable drive of modern man for power and wealth, his readiness to accept the risk of failure. But it has a deeper meaning, especially if related to the next symbol. {snip}

Drilling for oil may even represent the attempt to penetrate to the deep layers of the collective Unconscious and to reawaken the powers of the archaic psyche whichoce flourished–for instance in the true ceremonial magic of the tribal world, perhaps among the adepts of the fabled Atlantis, or even among the shamans and witch doctors of more recent times.

The archaic powers may be ‘refined’ for modern situations, but the almost inevitable result is the release of noxious waste producing ‘pollution’. And there is pollution of consciousness as well as of the atmosphere man breathes. AMBITION.” #

That covers events in the Gulf of Mexico quite well, I think –
BP, Transocean, and Halliburton’s overly pressurized misadventures. To me, this catastrophe seems like fall out from 2009’s three Great Conjunctions of the speculator pair of grand schemes, Jupiter and Neptune for both planets relate to Piscean seas and massive (Jupiter) leaks (Neptune.)

Let’s see: “refined” as in oil refining, “modern situations’ as in never drilled so deep before, and “foolish gambling” for which it remains to be seen whether the true culprits of the corporate persuasion will lose anything more than other people’s shirts.

“Archaic power” sounds like primeval powered Pluto’s connection with dark, damp, low down places that contain plutonian wealth through oil formed over centuries. Archaic. And creating power as ‘fuel’.

And how about “release of noxious waste”? Gas is nothing if not noxious and you know about the effects of noxious oil – toxins – on the environment along with the detergent they’re spraying.

Then there’s mention of Atlantis which can be a stand-in astrologically for America herself. This Sabian Symbol also links the BP oil spill to the Manifest Destiny our founders supposedly favored so unreservedly (‘New Atlantis’) and it points to our nation’s natal Uranus, planet of rebellion and independence, @ 8Gem55 – where transiting Midas, named after the gold-hoarding king, now traverses.

The BP-Gulf oil spill can be seen as potentially a part of Naomi Klein’s theory of Shock Doctrine being practiced on the American people. How grievous that it’s New Orleans and the *Gulf Coast taking more vicious kicks on the shin.

Ruthless people always go for weak spots, don’t they?

Yet you noticed when testifying on Capitol Hill last week, all the big execs said that they will pay “all legitimate” claims (a legal loophole?) but with this symbol we find that they were “ready to accept the risk of failure” though I suspect a way has been created around it:

Did BP and the others hedge their bets on Wall Street that a blowout would occur? Did they or someone else bet against this foolhardy misadventure? If so, they can use their considerable ‘winnings’ to pay for all the damages they’ve caused. And no loopholes.

*oil globs may turn up elsewhere as they circulate in ocean currents.

Horoscope of the New Millennium 2001

new-millennium-2001

New Millennium, Jan 1, 2001, 12:00 am est, Washington, DC.

With Venus (values; money; relationships) as chart-ruler, the world entered the New Millennium of the 21st century. My usual emphasis is on America and Washington, DC as representative for our nation, so this chart is set to show Washington’s ‘world leadership’ such as it may be as we go forward into this new century.

On a personal level, if you have natal placements within a 2 degree orb of these planets or points, you may find clues within the chart concerning new successes you may gain through development of the talents signified by the aspected planet’s energy as it relates to your nature.

Venus as chart-ruler is posited in the 5th house of Risk-Taking, Gambling, and Creative Pursuits and has only one applying aspect: a square to Jupiter (2Gem10 Rx in 8th house of Shared Resources – 4A59.)

A Venus-Jupiter square indicates deception to gain attention, indulgence and inattention to responsibilities, defensiveness, and exaggerated plans for the future.

Venus-Jupiter from 5th house to 8th house we may infer that this is one of the chart’s indicators of financial greed, taking stupid chances, and fiscal irresponsibility. Venus also rules the 8th house of Debt, Credit, Insurance, and Corporate monies of the Taurean (greedy) kind.

But the closest aspect in the chart is the Mars-Neptune square (0A16), an aspect that echoes the Mars-Neptune square in America’s natal chart (July 4, 1776) so the following relates natally to the US.

With Mars SQ Neptune, it’s difficult to be assertive without causing turmoil. There is fluctuation between intense desire for action (Mars) and complete apathy (Neptune.) When things go badly there’s a tendency to blame others in order to deflect criticism; a proneness toward lowering relationship standards attracts negativity; plans toward control of others should leave nothing to chance.

With this difficult square of energies, it’s hard to accept the reality of our own motives or to even ‘see’ them – disappointments cause bitterness and resentment but others are not the to blame…the fault is in ourselves and our confused motivations which cause others to mistrust us.

Mars-Neptune (with deceptive, dissolving Neptune in 4th house of Home) shows the mortgage and housing crises ongoing with Mars (loan officers making mega-bucks off unstable mortgages and the bosses who encouraged them.)

As you see, Venus 27AQ12 is conjunct US natal Moon (the people) which indicates an amiable and sociable time (New Millennnium celebrations galore!), yet we know the 21st century has brought many difficult events and circumstances into everyone’s lives (except for the select few who pull the strings and live high on the hog.)

Negatively (as it turns out), the Venus-to-Moon transit does indicate a tendency to rely on intuition and inspiration rather than on the cold, hard facts.

Around the chart I have added natal positions from the US chart but with an exception – I neglected to add US natal Mercury Rx ’25Can’ a degree whose SabianSymbol fascinates me…”A Man Wrapped in an Invisible Mantle of Power” which I tend to  believe relates to our secret or shadow government and to America’s Great Seal which some think was brought to us by Illuminati founder Adam Weishaupt with its obverse ‘All-Seeing Eye’ of surveillance.

In any case, US natal Mercury is the very visible 10th house of Public Standing/Career in the New Millennium. Perhaps our nation’s much-touted ‘Manifest Destiny’ is leading the way through natal Mercury’s influence – and the satellites surveilling us all as I type.

North Node 15Can31 is in 10th house as well opposite the New Millennium’s Mercury 14Cap367 conjunct South Node showing humanity’s already developed mental abilities ready to be directed into the 10th house of the Wider World.

Mercury conj SN = ideas either ahead or behind the times and one may have difficulty gaining support for them. Positively, it shows much originality of thought. Yet feeling mentally alone is a pitfall of the new era, a problem which many people experience as we pseudo-connect online in an attempt to offset the loneliness of modern life.

Venus square Saturn supports alienation and relating difficulties.

Sun in Capricorn likes to manage and be in charge…Sun = adult personality, Capricorn = the father archetype. Perhaps a father complex is closer to the truth. This Sun makes no applying aspects which strengthens its sign and house position with Domestic Concerns (4th house) of our ‘Ownership Society’ (as George Bush put it) being highlighted (Sun) along with 4/10 Security Issues and Secret (Ic) Control (Capricorn.)

Money sign Taurus on the 8th cusp opposite Mars 5Sco03 in 2nd house (and Scorpio’s traditional ruler)  indicates motivation toward financial activities with societal planets Jupiter 2Gem10 Rx and Saturn 24Tau35 Rx (8thhouse)  fairly fresh from their Great Conjunction of May 28, 2000 (’23Tau’ = “A Jewelry Shop Filled with the Most Magificent Gems”) and affecting 8th house money matters particularly by way of our political parties (Jup = Rs; Sat = Ds. The 20-year cycle of Jupiter-Saturn relates to money and stock market cycles, as you know. Their clock ‘started over’ on May 28, 2000.)

Jupiter and Saturn are the only planets above the horizon and in 8thhouse, they show that corporations will continue to exist but with restructuring transformations.

And now that Pluto has moved into Capricorn, sign of Saturnian structures, this has become imperative. (Breaking up giant monopolies would be okay by me – and we’ve been down this anti-social path before…how soon we forget!)

Asteroid Persephone (‘transition’) conjuncts Midheaven(Aspirations) opposite Icarus (‘risk-taking; flight; assassination’) at Ic, the Foundation or Drain of the chart.

This may be one picture of the attacks of 9.11.01 against US authority and financial businesses (Cancer), and/or with the aspiration of transitioning our nation into what it’s become under the Bush-Cheney administration.  (As mentioned, Pluto was conjunct US natal Ascendant on 9.11.01 = permanent transformation, a long time coming due to Pluto’s slow-pokiness.)

Neptune 5AQ20 is conjunct US natal SN, a conjunction indicating America’s lack of popularity through being out of tune with the environment.

Mercury conj SN plays into this unpopularity along with the Venus-Saturn square which is separating, therefore unconscious. (Not that America is the only one – we just brag a lot, overcompensate, and project…looking-for-enemies-r-us.)

(And with Mercury out-of-bounds, I suspect the original, futuristic ideas come from we know not where but from people not within our usual orbits.)

Intrigue and unfortunate circumstances cause pilfering of things we’ve worked hard on for a long time with Neptune-SN, but working out spiritual purposes under very difficult conditions is the cloud-with-eventual-silver-lining flavor of this conjunction. This makes right actions and upright motives ‘musts’ for true success (oops!)

As you see, I’ve marked the Sabian Symbol for Mars – ‘6Sco’ = ” A Gold Rush.” Speaks for itself, don’t you think? Scorpio is the sign of stocks, bonds, and big business. And if I had typed this pre-2008, few might have agreed with me on the many money issues found in this chart!

So there in 3rd house of Communications we find Pluto 13Sag47 (conj US natal ASC as the ‘old dragon guarding the riches’ was on 9.11.01) and Chiron 22Sag33. They’re fresh from their Great Conj of Dec 30, 1999  (conj US n ASC at ’12Sag’ = “A Flag That Turns into an Eagle That Crows”) and together this pair of energies signify oppression, corporatism, racism, women’s suffrage, disenfranchisement, primal violence, fascism, andother -isms which only the ‘power elite’ seem to be fond of because they suit and promote their totalitarian purposes of control.

I’ve notated on the chart, Pluto-Chiron’s parallel of mid-August 2004. Planets in parallel act much like a strong conjunction and it’s one of Astrology’s useful timing devices. And since they are placed in 3rd house, I believe propaganda is a major part of the “crowing” of ’12Sag.’

Moon 21Pis14 in 6th house of Work, Service, and Health shows a populace in need of Piscean things such as spiritual standards, compassionate giving, and being our brother’s keeper. The Golden Rule never goes out of style, just out of our hearts – and humanity can only benefit from putting it back.

The previously mentioned Mars-Neptune SQ is a clue toward these spiritual needs since Neptune is associated with the sign of Pisces (personally I use Jupiter as its ruler, and Neptune as a higher octave influence.)

Fluctuations (Moon) in work environments and jobs are indicated here, too, and with confusing conditions including dissolution (Pisces-Neptune.) Changes in healthcare – or the sacrifice of it – are reflected as well.

I have yet to mention the ‘erratic and indulgent with money’ wide conjunction of Venus and Uranus in 5th house of Risk-Taking. Guess everyone knows where that energy has gone so far.

Yet new and original works of Art are positive 5th house manifestations here with the possibility of becoming famous (Moon) in America (Venus conj US n Moon.)

Well, of course, there’s more to be read in this chart, but I’m going to mosey for now and add to this post if and when I am so inspired. The midpoint pictures from this chart will be published momentarily at Stars Over Washington so that I can publish a shout-out there to this chart….SO’W’s feed is in the sidebar column to your left.

Update 6:52 pm edt: details on the New Millennium’s Prenatal Eclipse Series (including the karmic implications of an Eclipse in Capricorn) have been added to my SO’W post, along with the Sun Cap-Moon Pisc blend info.)

So let’s dialogue! Your comments and observations on-point are most welcome (but will be moderated, so spammers don’t bother. Shoo.)

Plus, I am especially interested in your views and interpretations on current transits to this chart, so if possible, please advise!

Obama’s budget inflates the baseline

Of President Obama’s newly presented budget, John Dickerson at Slate Magazine says we’ve seen this sort of budgetary flim flam before:

http://www.slate.com/id/2212325/?from=rss

The president’s staid, conservative, rule-maker Saturn in his own sign of Capricorn (papa!) isn’t going to venture too far outside the lines even with moneybags Jupiter, happy in freedom-loving, egalitarian Aquarius, nearby and encouraging, “Anything is possible!”

But this demonstrates how life so often is: nothing is all good, and little is all bad…it’s the balance in between that puts ideals into form, and lifts our restrictive realities into higher realms, though made riskier when you’re tiptoeing on a highwire that’s being buffeted by heady winds of change.

Or by braying radio gasbags and other opponents who want you to fail. And for them, any misstep will do as political fodder.

Tiresome. Very tiresome.

McCain’s Sagittarian Jupiter

Having the planet Jupiter (expansion; ideals; gambling; pushing one’s luck; faith; universal consciousness; nobility; where one perceives the unmanifest) in its own sign exalts and strengthens the jolly planet of increase.

Natally, John McCain (Aug 29, 1936) has Jupiter in the 2nd house of Earning Ability and Values (Taurus’ natural house) yet near the 3rd house cusp (17Sag28) so we may expect Jupiter’s expansive qualities to affect 3rd house Communications; Short Trips; the Lower Mind since Jupiter rules 3rd house.

So Jupiter exalted – nice, but Jupiter opposite his natural house (9th) may be part of McCain’s inability to express his own religious beliefs. Shaman Chiron (the wound; the blindspot) is in 9th house of the Higher Mind.

Jupiter is involved in some aspects of interest as well as being the focal or apex planet in a T-square:

Jupiter opposite Chiron: ‘the wizard’; intense resonance with multi-dimensional realities; occult perception that understands the essence of matter and the physical laws of the universe; a laser beam mind. (‘Chiron,’ Hand Clow.)

T-square:

Saturn-Neptune = Jupiter: very upset with the ways of the world; easily upset or depressed; narrow-mindedness; sensitivity; egoism; possible liver disease (Tyl; Ebertin.)

In his excellent book, ‘Dynamics of Aspect Analysis’, Bil Tierney gives apex Jupiter in a T-SQ as one who is in search for life’s higher meaning and who is encouraged to learn tolerance, acceptance, and charitability if he is to develop a personal belief system that does not have to be defended from social attack.

This is part of his constant apology stance which began with the Keating Five affair – McCain was the senator who spilled the beans and apologized all over the place for his ‘misjudgment.’

Apex Jupiter in a MUTABLE T-square indicates one who restlessly flits from ideals, philosophy, or theory and who is a ‘guru-chaser’; the urge is for instant wisdom or speedy enlightenment; a central problem is a desire to aquire special privileges and benefits without exerting much effort to merit them (perfect for Politics!); commitment to ideologies may be diffcult to sustain over an extended period of time; a ‘roving’ spirit that seeks variety; partnership conflicts may be triggered by indecisiveness and irresponsibility – conflicts then tend to be ignored, side-tracked, or ‘wished away.’

So the vacillation of the Mutable quality is amplied here by Jupiter. But if used constructively, this apex Jupiter can indicate an exceptional teacher, intelligent administrator, and one who acts as an enlightened political spokesperson for the populace.

For McCain’s misjudgment issues, let’s look at his Jupiter square Saturn and Jupiter square Neptune…

Jup SQ Saturn (in Pisces – a karmic planet in a karmic sign – regret over past mistakes): may exercise faulty judgment esp in relation to finances and business affairs which cause problems in the profession; humility; resistance encountered from superiors and may endure indignities for the sake of job security; early lack of confidence from the father; no easy road to victory; bittersweet destiny; may over-promise or sign contracts beyond limits of abilities; inner conflicts within one’s moral outlook – principle vs expediency.

Jup SQ Neptune: the ‘builds castles in the air’ aspect; very creative but needs self-discipline to use effectively; over-extends self; clouded vision, lines of reason distorted; open to deception; can be ‘the fall guy’ when rules are broken esp when dealing with classified info; unconsciously reveals secrets when speaking; religious or occult discussions should be avoided due to temperamental inability to defend positions; over-indulgence causes problems; prone toward romantic escapades; wooliness and gullibility when dealing with harsh realities; dream world leads to rude awakening.

Mars trine Jupiter: physical resources well-integrated (this helps him now with physical pains which would have keeled over most other guys by now); very energetic; talent plus luck; an honorable temperament; ‘easy come easy go’ attittude may cause carelessness in money issues; political talent; an optimist; an opportunist.

Alan Oken gives this trine as: ‘The True Believer’ and says it confers a practical interest in religious and philosophical matters. (If so, McCain ain’t sayin’ much about it.)

With Mercury in head-strong Aries, the senator announced his presidential candidacy on Feb 28, 2007 – on the David Letterman Show – in the midst of his last Jupiter Return which was a three-fer all through 2007: Feb 7; June 4; Oct 6.

So what does *Jupiter in fiery Sag confer?

In its own sign, Jupiter may express his essential nature most purely although he is still modifed by aspects, house placements, etc, as mentioned above. Lack of a strong Saturn increases these tendencies…I say this because Saturn is problematic in Watery Pisces.

Yet Saturn in Pisces = ‘stillness of spirit’ and supports McCain’s mystical interests.

Jup in Sag people are the positive thinkers of the world, the visionaries and dreamers (ex: Dale Carnegie, John Templeton; William Blake; Vincent van Gogh; Phil Donahue; Hillary Clinton.) Since Jupiter tends to feed upon himself, the expansive tendencies are even more prominent when placed in Sagittarius, sign of The Seeker.

Cautions would be arrogance and hypocrisy – but these are two traits Politics would be lost without.

Is America in for another political ‘bubble world’? White House occupancy creates them anyway as does Capitol Hill – for distant realms are the natural habitat for this idealistic Jupiter. At its best, there are tolerance and broad-mindedness, but there is a reliance upon self-justification (the afore-mentioned ‘apology tactic’ successfully employed with the Keating Five scandal and also concerning his MLK Day apology…apologizing is an integral part of his strategy.)

Possessing a noble character, a high moral tone may be adopted when disapproving of others. The Good News: there is profound power for taking positive actions.

However John McCain expresses his exalted Jupiter we know that the dynamics in his natal chart – in his psyche – are greatly enhanced and increased by his Sagittarian Jupiter.

But exactly what far-reaching Quest the man is on and how it will affect the American people – those are the real questions concerning Jupiterian candidate John McCain.

Reaganism-Bushism: Kleptocracy

Making global the plundering by the US government, Reaganism and Bushism are twins of greed and corruption uniting the 80s with the New Millennium.

As the US has propped up bloody dictators (Pinochet, The Shah, Apartheid, Contras, Marcos, to name a few) in order to stroke their egos, enrich them, and assure their assistance in the pillaging of their own people, our own nation’s population and the future of our children have fallen by the wayside in the march toward one world government.

Read Professor of Political Science, David Michael Green’s article which gives an overview of what voodoo economics have done here in America and what the world crime syndicate (Cupido in an astrology chart!) has been up to in the last few decades:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article20144.htm

which covers in brief what’s been goin’ on. It isn’t pretty but must be brought into the collective consciousness…this is one of America’s many shadows which we have failed to deal with and now look where we are…nowhere soon.

This regressive political movement is somewhat addressed by my Page concerning the Reaganonmics Eclipse of July 30, 1981 which occurred upon George Bush’s natal Ascendant! (see sidebar for this alarming synchronicity.

As you know, our solar system contains two ‘societal planets’ which time our sociopolitical-economic cycle and they begin their new cycle approximately every 20 years–Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (restriction.)

They met up for a new cycle on May 28, 2000, and the DOW’s historic high on Jan 13, 2000 (11,528.40) preceeded this Great Conjunction–the NASDAQ followed with its high on March 10, 2000 (5,048 pts.)

That the DOW’s historic high was in Jan 2000 actually puts in at the tail end of the last conj of Jupiter-Saturn–three meetings: Dec 31, 1980; March 3, 1981; and July 24, 1981 from 4–10 degrees of Libra, sign of balance and fairness. Yuh. And if you think Wall Street gentry don’t know about astrological cycles and consult them, think again.

As dot com investors know, by the end of 2000, the NASDAQ was down 39%, its worst year ever, and the DOW was down 6% for the year–its worst since…wait for it…1981.

The Great Conjunction of May 2000 in Taurus, one of the ‘money signs’, was squared by disruptive Uranus so we have:

Jupiter/Saturn = Uranus: terribly upset with the status of things; forceful change of direction which can upset many dimensions of life; making great efforts; emotional tensions; sudden change in circumstances; Damage to a Building (sounds like 9/11 to me esp considering the conj of Pluto and Chiron, the plutocratic duo of corporatism, oppression, disenfranchisement, racism, and primal violence, on Dec 30, 1999. So this is how the New Millennium began, world.)

The State united with Corporatism = fascism, another -ism of the Pluto/Chiron variety. And even stronger than their conj is their parallel in mid-August 2004.

Yes, redistribution of wealth is Reagan’s real legacy. That George Bush has followed suit and extended the practice to the global community makes the term ‘kleptocracy’ part of his fascist, corporate legacy as well with the world banking system in on the bargain and its claws in the pie–the pie of our children and our children’s children.

Remember this: “Free trade raises all boats”? Sounds as hilarious as the Titanic’s boasts before it sailed, doesn’t it?

Think I’ll mosey to Prof. Green’s site now to see what antidote might exist–because it’s sickening what they’ve done with our America.

Jupiter in Barack Obama’s natal chart

With his Jupiter Return occurring Jan 9, 2009, and natal Jupiter at 00AQ56 Rx, I’m looking today at jovial Jupiter, the Great Benefic, in Senator Obama’s chart. Becoming US president would be quite some Jupiter Return, wouldn’t it? Well, astrologically speaking, the timing is perfect for such a reward.

With Jupiter in an out-of-sign conjunction with the other societal planet, Saturn 25Cap22 Rx, Obama has driving ambition and the means to assert himself in the world. Robert Pelletier, in his ‘Planets in Aspect’ says this conjunction indicates one who is: hopeful yet realistic, assertive yet deliberate, and eager yet serious.

The balance is due to Jupiter’s expansion principle aligned with Saturn’s restrictive principle.

And because Obama’s conj is between Capricorn and Aquarius, both signs ruled by Saturn, their being out-of-sign is not quite as complex as it would be with two other signs side-by-side in the zodiac…Cap and AQ have affinity which is absent with other neighboring signs, for a sign following is a reaction to the sign before it–and often in negative fashion shown by lack of patience. Further along on the evolutionary wheel, you know.

Capricorn’s Saturn is tradition and the past, while Aquarius’ link to high-frequency Uranus brings in progress toward the future.

People with Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions tend to have vivid mental pictures of their futures already realized, and the drive to make it happen unless negative factors interfere. One may assume that the Senator is handling this conj quite well so far. Generally he prefers proven methods to get what he wants but it’s not enough unless it satisfies his clear mental vision.

He seldom allows non-productive projects to waste his time (Saturn rules Time) and respects the lessons of history. Having a retentive memory is a plus of Jupiter-conj-Saturn. Obama is ostentatious (audacious?) enough to believe in himself, yet cautious enough to stay within his limits.

The main problem with this conj is a tendency to overdo to the point of physical exhaustion. Even leisure reading involves informative books related to his professional life for he’s never satisfied with the breadth of his knowledge.

Now I’m still using Obama’s Sunrise (Solar) chart since his exact birth time hasn’t surfaced (I assume) so when I progressed his natal chart to this morning, it was surprising to see that Secondary Moon is at 00AQ50–conj natal Jupiter.

The Secondary Moon is an excellent timer for daily life, and Moon/Jupiter contacts are generally happy, expansive ones. Home life often goes well under Moon-Jupiter contacts.

That Sec Moon = a woman, and that this reluctant astrologer is one of those reflecting light upon his natal Jupiter is a tiny indication, if any!

Also in Obama’s Secondary Progressions, Jupiter continues to be Rx and has ‘backed up’ to 27Cap20–conj US natal Pluto at the “A Large Aviary” degree. Saturn is now at 23Cap17 Rx, where Jupiter has been transiting of late.

Since Sec Moon has been moseying through his Sec Jupiter/Saturn conj, midpoint pictures are created…currently it’s this one:

Moon/Saturn = Jupiter: sense of law and order prevails; appreciating why certain controls are necessary; feeling confident about structure; conscientiousness and a sense of duty; successful self-reliance; separating without sadness; quiet happiness; a journey. (Tyl; Ebertin.)

As with all midpoint pics, it’s an ‘all, none, or some combination’ deal. (The possibilities may also express on a timed basis – a level of expression with one triggering, another at a later time, etc.)

Jupiter in Aquarius! McCain and Clinton both have natal Jupiter in Sagittarius, but let’s look at the Aquarian Jupiter using Stephen Arroyo’s ‘Exploring Jupiter’ for details on this Airy, mentally expanded Jupiter.

First, Jupiter in Air gives great intellectual energy and an inner faith which is stimulated by communicating with people, exploring new ideas, and by making social improvements. There’s a broad curiosity about people and ideas (which would be a refreshing change from 8 years of President Incurious, wouldn’t it?)

In the humanitarian sign of Aquarius, Jupiter gives optimism and trust in the unity of all humanity with broad tolerance of the free expression of others. Daring experimentation is possible through risk-taker Uranus’ influence, and there is an unconventional streak there as well. Saturn’s control introduces caution, however, when it comes to taking emotional risks.

There can be extreme ideas and beliefs with Jupiter in AQ, and vacillation between quite contradictory concepts. Willful, independent, and contrary may describe the Aquarian Jupiter (and I should know for I have such a child.)

Walt Whitman’s Jupiter is in AQ…

“Do I contradict myself?

Very well then

I contradict myself, I contain multitudes.”

This contradictoriness may help explain some of Obama’s seeming lack of definition for his positions…his Jupiter, planet of the Higher Mind, is in forward-looking Aquarius and has an inventiveness and imagination not always appreciated by status quo types.

And if you read my entry concerning Obama’s Mercury in Leo, you’ll see that details are usually left for others to tie up and down. Plus, Obama’s Mercury is opposite Jupiter which adds to his insatiable appetite for learning, yet increases his lack of attention to details as it broadens the mind. Closer listening to others helps these tendencies.

Jupiter in AQ is often drawn to government service, and astrologer Marcia Moore called this placement, “the ideal democrat with a knack for handling groups of people.”

Handling and distributing money is also typical with an Aquarian Jupiter, and I ask you: what would a politician be without money to handle?

Here’s an interesting list of famous folk who share Jupiter in AQ:

Gov Jerry Brown, Marilyn Monroe, Isadora Duncan, Elizabeth II, Thomas Merton, Grant Lewi, Helena Blavatsky, Herman Melville, Vaslav Nijinski, Ed Sullivan, Alec Guiness, and Albert Einstein.

And my son, the prog rock drummer!

~~Barack Obama, Aug 4, 1961, Honolulu, Hawaii, Sun 12Leo01 at sunrise, Moon 26Tau19; I am now using the surfaced ‘7:24 pm’ birth time.

Obama explains and Fed lowers

Today is Tuesday, March 18, 2008–a day when the Moon remains in Leo until the wee hours of Wednesday, and Sun is in the last two degrees of Pisces (tropically speaking.)

I mention this because I wanted to peek at a chart for Barack Obama’s speech in Philadelphia today but can find no mention of its hour. (It’s now 12:28 pm est, so I think it may be over.)

Also, I’m assuming that the Fed’s announcement concerning the lowering of interest rates will be around 2 or 2:15 pm est as it usually is.

~~Fed UPDATE: rates were lowered 3/4%, in case you’ve had your head under a bushel basket in the last half hour…anything interesting under there? ;p

But if you ever study astrology charts yourself, you know how time consuming it is which, to me, makes having an exact time for an event all the more helpful.

So I shall confine my notes to a more general tenor with the Sun Pisces–Moon Leo personality blend for the day which perhaps may cover both events in some way or another. At least, it will have to do.

I also want to write a few words about Obama’s natal Chiron in Pisces since Chiron is, among other things, the Christ archetype in a horoscope. With the Senator’s birth time unverified, I won’t mention the House (department of life) his Chiron falls in natally for I’d be guessing. But the sign is a definite–the mystical Pisces, ruled by Jupiter, planet of higher ideals and philosophy and said to be connected to codified religions.

Pisces is influenced through the higher vibrations of Neptune although I never consider outer planets as ‘rulers’ of signs. Sorry, that’s just the way I roll. And Neptune is linked to the Middle East–with Obama’s mixed religious heritage part of his legacy and the political issues of his campaign.

But the mystical Neptune has obvious sympathies with Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac and the symbol of merging with the universe, with The Oneness of creation–this trait Pisces shares with Neptune, planet at the center of the divine vortex and thus, linked with spirituality. These are the positive expressions of Neptune with negative escapism being the negative–still an expression of reaching for the infinite whether through mind expansion or…through death.

Jupiter also signifies the generous side of God which balances with Saturn as the disciplinarian side of our creator. The Jupiter–Saturn combo is the ”flywheel’ of the universe keeping the planets in their courses through Jupiter’s expansion principle and Saturn’s restriction principle…the yin-yang, pos-neg balance of our dualistic world. Where would we be without them?

So what does Sun Pis–Moon Leo describe for today? This Water-Fire combo, indicative of steam which can cleanse, sterilize, or scald, is passionate, romantic, emotional, and volatile. It can be self-dramatizing and quite poetic, and Obama is known for his expressive speechmaking abilities–but mild Ben Bernanke? Not so much. Still, I hope neither of them find themselves scalded after the day’s events by the spin which will be put upon their words or by undermining attacks against them.

Using ‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Charles & Suzi Harvey, here is the Image for integration for the Pisces-Leo combo:

“Cinderella sits by the fire mending her ball gown and daydreaming about her romantic evening of dance, glamour, and high drama.”

As Obama attempts to distance himself from Pastor Wright, he’s calling for the Party to look past racist remarks from Wright and others, and I would concur. Why give the Rs ammunition, you dolt-heads?

But at the risk of grumping up the one or two readers of this blog, I have to say that (based only on the few of his comments I’ve heard) Pastor Wright told the truth about America too plainly for old, bald-headed, white men’s ears to hear–why, his words turned those elitist ears RED with deserved shame! And to hear it over and over in the media, poor things, as if one man’s honest opinion about US actions could possibly be worse than the actions of bombing innocent people, aka ‘collateral damage’ in the basement of the Pentagon. Diversionary tactics are alive and well in American politics!

Now what does it mean to have Chiron, the blindspot, the wound–in Pisces?

Barbara Hand Clow says in her book on Chiron that it’s a “crisis over connecting with the God force, the universal oneness. The native is hearing the siren call from across the sea (Pisces), seeing the will-o-the-wisp in the swamp (DC was built in a swamp!), is hearing the flute of Pan or Kokopelli–he hears different music than most of us. –visualize Chiron as the focal point of a vortex with Neptunian resonance as the wide rim. Individuals with Chiron in Pisces are the manifestors of this subtle force, but they are way out on the rim. …Their sense of evolutionary force (using Plutonian energy) (may be) used for total clarity.”

Clow also mentions the first square of Chiron to its natal position and drug use–this is, I believe, although I’m not checking his chart for the exact years–is when Barack Obama used drugs in his early years. But he seems to be using total clarity now, doesn’t he? And he’d be glad to have some o’that as he attempts explanation of hot-button religious issues this very day!

blogging on the natal chart of Jesus

At last I did it–an article on the birth chart of Jesus of Nazareth using the date of Jupiter as Morning Star when the giant planet was occulted by the Moon in Aries on April 17, 6 B.C.

http://starsoverwashington.blogspot.com/2007/12/birth-chart-for-jesus-apr-17-6-bc.html

No one knows, of course, His actual birthdate–and if He’d wanted us to know, He would’ve made sure we knew–so I use this chart symbolically. One thing I do know–lambs are born in the Spring, not in mid-winter.

So check out the post, if you wish, for more details on the Star of Bethlehem, the Magi, the choice of Dec 25, and other related topics. Writing it has been a welcome respite for me today from the usual politics on Stars Over Washington!

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel is essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…
