Press in the US

“The press is the hired agent of a monied system, and set up for no other purpose than to tell lies where their interests are involved. One can trust nobody and nothing.”

— Henry Brooks Adams 1838 – 1918 (grandson of John Quincy Adams, great-grandson of John Adams)

Now we may take the above quote of journalist, novelist, academician, and historian Henry Adams at surface value – until we spend hours last evening researching Mr. Adams and find that he was an anti-semite who believed that Jews controlled politics, the financial world, and the press.

Well, that’s fairly demonstrable in our era, as it turns out, but I’m not of the persuasion of detesting an entire religious body of people because of a percentage of its adherents. (Hebrew is the race, Judaism is the religion.)

I point out Adams’ anti-semitism because it explains his “monied system” reference in the above quote.

That Zionists’ interests override public policy in the US is becoming more and more clear, imo, and there are many people who would agree.

On my Political Astrology blog, Stars Over Washington, I remember posting last year the YouTube video of VP Joe Biden calling himself a ‘Zionist’ and I thought, uh-oh – more war even WITH a President Obama. We’re seeing results playing out now so Mr. Adams was apparently on to something.

Yet I’m surprising myself by posting the following two quotes from Mr. Adams, quotes that further illuminate a part of his character as much as his prejudices:

“With communism I would exist tolerably well…but in a society of Jews and brokers, a world made of maniacs wild for gold, I have no place.”

“I detest (the Jews) and everything connected with them, and I live only and solely with the hope of seeing their demise, with all their accursed Judaism.”

(There’s more to the last quote but I prefer to draw the line here at his vitriole. I do not promote such rhetoric normally but stay with me – there may be a point to all this.)

Before I continue on this track, how about a calmer bit of wisdom from the brilliant Henry?

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”

Can this be said of bloggers, too (especially considering the abandonment of the public trust by the mainstream media)?!

But let’s get back to prejudices and monied systems…

Best known for his book, ‘The Education of Henry Adams’ the man lived a seemingly charmed life in his home on LaFayette Square across from the White House, enjoying social and political connections of the exalted kind of his day. His wife Clovis Hooper, daughter of a very wealthy Bostonian, interrupted the flow, however, by committing suicide on Dec 6, 1885.

Something of an auto-biography, ‘The Education of Henry Adams’ left out his marriage years entirely! The book, awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1919, concerns the ‘birth of forces’ that he saw as ‘replacing Christianity.’

Considering his many travels to Europe – including a Grand Tour after graduating Harvard in 1858 and serving as private secretary to his father who was sent to London by Pres. Lincoln as minister (ambassador) to the UK – my intuition says that Mr. Adams came in contact with the Freemasonry-Illuminati-Rosicrucian crowd/s that permeated the upper classes in which they moved in Europe (as did Franklin, Madison, and Jefferson.)

In fact, the works of John Stuart Mill were described by Adams to have convinced him of “the necessity of an enlightened, moral, and intelligent elite to provide leadership to a government elected by masses and subject to demagogery, ignorance, and corruption.” Just like America’s founders, especially Jefferson and Madison whose presidencies he chronicled so well.

And we know of Jefferson’s high regard for The Enlightenment in Europe and the French Revolution’s early principles: Voltaire and the gang. ‘Reason’ exalting the ‘Morals’ of man, however, never live up to their idealization. My own belief is that God knows best and that we’d be nowhere without Him and the Ten Commandments. Guess I’m no humanist – look what de-regulation of the markets has wrought as Wall Street had all controls dissolved. Even forgetting celestial precepts, where were human ‘morals’ then?)

Now showing! one of my own biases when reading of anyone and anything relating to politics – the word ‘enlightenment’ always seems an ‘Illuminati’ reference to me – and their stated mission is to destroy Christianity (and all other religions), governments, and the very fabric of society so that they can build it back – or let it grow wild as a destructured ‘Utopia’ where all men are ‘free’ – aka left to their own devices – but actually to be bossed around by a select few elites at the top of the pyramid!

So does man need God’s laws in order to thrive? Or can we regulate ourselves with manmade laws and devices?

Did you know that the Ten Commandments can be read as promises as well as limits?

For example: for those who love and serve God, “Thou shall not kill” is a promise easily kept without any trouble at all, if you love and serve our Creator!

And any parent raising small children knows how things will go if they give their beloved children No Limits to go by whatsoever. It makes them not very pleasant to be around besides setting them up for a shock when others don’t find their unbridled sassiness nearly as charming as their parent may.

Well, what is my point about Henry Brooks Adams?

That no one – even the famous, well-connected, and exalted – is perfect, yet we may still learn something valuable from them when it comes to what’s going on below the surface of politics…and now one of his most famous quotes, one of my personal favorites because it is so very instructive for modern times:

“Politics, as a practice, whatever its professions, has always been the systematic organisation of hatreds.”

As it remains today, Professor Adams.

Astrology of Lincoln’s Inaugurations

With this evening’s celebrations going on at Ford’s Theater in DC, I have published the chart of Pres. Lincoln’s 1861 Inauguration with notations added of his 1985 Inauguration, Lincoln’s natal placements, and America’s natal placements from the Sibly chart.

The feed for my Political Astrology blog, Stars Over Washington, is slow to update these days in spite of my recent tinkerings with it, so I’ll give you the link here in case you’d like to directly check it out in honor of the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln:

http://starsoverwashington.blogspot.com/2009/02/horoscope-of-lincolns-inaugurations.html

Lincoln’s nickname, Abraham the Tyrant, is shown in the inaugural charts in several ways such as a zealous and violent conjunction of Mars and Pluto (1861), a trio of Moon, Mars, and Uranus in Gemini (1865), and his natal midpoint of Pluto-Chiron (plutocracy; oppression; racism; corporatism; primal violence) conjunct America’s natal Moon, which represents We-The-People.

And you may wish to visit the website of Ford’s Theater which has details of tonight’s celebration and more on our 16th president, plus news of the Theater’s own plans going forward:

Abraham Lincoln’s 200th anniversary

Yes, it will soon arrive, the 200th anniversary of the birth of our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.

There is much to say on the subject of his inaugurations and on his assassination by actor, John Wilkes Booth, and I am currently studying the Inauguration charts for 1861 and 1865.

But for now I shall point you to the sidebar column of Pages for  ‘Abraham Lincoln: natal + assassination chart’ which I have updated today with an article link to Byron King’s assessment of Booth, Booth’s grudge against tyrants and Mr. Lincoln, and the horrific proceedings which occurred a mere month after Lincoln’s second inauguration on March 4, 1865.

As you know, Lincoln was inaugurated back in the day when US presidential inaugurations were held in early March, thus the Sun in mid-Pisces was conjunct a difficult star, Achernar…keywords: ‘risk of rapid endings; crises.’

In 1861, Sun 14Pis11 (‘the leader’ in a national chart; and Moon = ‘the people’) was conjunct wounded Chiron 14Pis34 at the inauguration’s Midheaven.

Chiron in *Pisces is a poster child for race relations and racism – and for being a victim on behalf of the collective, but of course Chiron was an unknown factor in Astrology until it’s discovery in November 1977.

Moon 16Gem38 is in the secretive 12th house conjunct warring activist Mars 17Gem15; rebellious chaos-creator Uranus 25Gem25 had just risen (at noon of Mar 4, 1865; Washington DC); ASC 2Can41 brought US natal Venus to the fore (based on US natal chart, ‘Sibly’ version) along with planet Venus’ issues such as: relationships, art-theater-aesthetics, money, and values.

My plan for the next several days is to publish both inaugural charts of Abe Lincoln  (1861 and 1865) – prior to Feb 12 – at Stars Over Washington, and the feed for the post will appear in the sidebar column here when I get the project done.

So I hope you’ll check out Byron King’s article – it’s definitely worth a read – and I’ll see you on the come-back!

Note: scroll down for the text of Lincoln’s second inaugural address which is linked on this blog under ‘Speeches’ – the address is one that Barack Obama studied before giving Jan 20, 2009’s inaugural address.

*Pres. Obama’s natal Chiron is in Pisces.

UPDATE Feb 11 2009: now published at Stars Over Washington (see feed in sidebar) –  the Inauguration 1861 chart with notations added of the 1865 Inauguration, Lincoln’s natal planetary placements, and America’s natal placements, too.

Funding the new New Deal

Surfing about the interweb today I ran across a magazine previously unknown to me and which contains online articles about financial and economic issues of the day: Yes! Magazine.

The magazine needs new subscriptions, of course, but they cordially place a bevy of articles on their site for online reading, too.

One such, by Ellen Brown, concerns funding the ‘new’ New Deal which Barack Obama is being expected to deliver to America. The article covers how banks create money,  the thoughts of Thomas Jefferson on such matters, and more.

Here’s a snippet for you:  Jefferson, writing to Treasury Secretary Gallatin in 1815:

“The treasury, lacking confidence in the country, delivered itself bound hand and foot to bold and bankrupt adventurers and bankers pretending to have money, whom it could have crushed at any moment.”

My question: Is it too late to crush the pretenders?

Jefferson’s hindsight of 1815 should be used foresightfully in 2009 as the speculator duo, Jupiter and Neptune, meet 3x upon America’s natal Moon in Aquarius all through 2009. (In a national chart, Moon = the people, populace, the public.)

*Jupiter-Neptune = Moon: going with the wind; becoming involved in speculation, instability, wastefulness; dreaminess; an emotional swoon; little sense of reality; losing oneself in plans.

And this is a year-long influence so foresight says:  please beware of those who pretend to have money!

But all Astrology aside, you may wish to read Brown’s excellent and informative article here:

Bolshevik crimes old and new

An article by Andrew Nagorski caught my eye concerning Sean McMeekin’s book, ‘History’s Greatest Heist: the Looting of Russia by the Bolsheviks’ which tells in harrowing detail the rise of the Bolsheviks in Russia, their plundering of the country to finance their power-grabbing plans, and the institution of Communism.

The story reminds me of Bush’s current looting of America especially considering the Sabian Symbol for George Bush’s Ascendant degree, ‘8 Leo’…

“A Bolshevik Propagandist.”

(‘Sabian Symbols in Astrology’ Marc Edmund Jones.)

By 1917, a bottomless pit had opened under the lives, power, and wealth of Europe and when US President Woodrow Wilson tipped the balance by entering the formerly neutral America into the fray, war was declared on the Central Powers (now Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria.)

Wilson called it the “war to end all wars'”(not) and said it would “make the world safe for democracy” which is a promise war never fulfills. In fact, WWI was the seed for the wars that have followed. Well, at least those were Wilson’s public justifications for taking America to war – sound familiar yet?

And when the transiting South Node, a separative point of neurotic behavior, reached ‘8Leo’ the Solar Eclipse of Feb 3, 1916 manifested as a catastrophic Total Eclipse in Aquarius (13:30) – conj disaster-prone Uranus and opposing warring instigator Mars.

This Eclipse marks the outbreak of the Battle of Verdun on Feb 21, and is in the 8 North Series (‘new-found inspiration; prophetic dreams; visions.’  -Brady; last occurred: Mar 29, 2006, ‘9Ari.’)

And a Great Conjunction of Saturn-Pluto had kicked off the loss, hardship, and cruelty in 1914-15:

1. Oct 4, 1914;  2Can14:

2.  Nov 1, 1914;  2Can04

3. May 19, 1915; 00Can54, a World Point where major events tend to occur which affect large numbers of the world’s population.

Plus, 2 to 3 Cancer is conj US natal Venus, as you notice.

So the rise of the Bolsheviks and other dictatorships indicates that the world wasn’t rendered “safe for democracy” after all, and as diplomatic Jupiter met with idealistic Neptune (as they will again 3x in 2009), the planet’s hope for peace resided with the League of Nations, a Jupiter-Neptune entity, as is the United Nations, founded in 1945.

(Jupiter conjuncted Neptune on Sept 22, 1945 at 5Lib54, which is the degree of George Bush’s natal Neptune, btw.)

This implies that 2009’s three conjunctions of the speculator/wastrel pair, Jupiter-Neptune, will bring the UN up for more attention and use in spite of their past “peacekeeper” problems  (raping, robbing, and evicting those they were supposedly sent to protect.)

Hopefully, you will not let a little Astrology as given herein dissuade you from reading Nagorski’s article for you may gain insight into what Bush-Paulson & Co have been up to and how – as if you hadn’t noticed already!

http://www.truthdig.com/arts_culture/item/20090102_andrew_nagorski_on_the_bolsheviks_crimes/

Then there’s the story of  Bush’s grandpa diverting millions in gold to Germany to aid Hitler’s rise to power in the 1930s – but that must be a tale for another post.

Frost/Nixon review the cat’s meow

Just found a well written review of the new movie, Frost/Nixon, a film about the David Frost vs Richard Nixon interviews that ground on for 28 hours as taped.

I remember watching the melee between the preening presser from the UK and the disgraced US president who had festooned my favorite city (DC, as we called her then) with the gloom, disappointment, and anguish of Watergate.

And that doesn’t count the humiliation we-the-people suffered with the scorn from the rest of the world due to  our usual national hubris and puppy-dog-tail-wagging Be My Friend demeanor. Aw shucks.

Nixon’s psychotic “if the president does it, it’s not illegal” argument is the sort of thing we’ve been encumbered with once again within the last few years, as urged on and coordinated by Cheney, and cheer-led (is that a word?) by ex-cheerleader, George W. Bush, the mouthpiece.

Frost/Nixon recalls the brilliance of David Frost who came to life toward the end of those hours with laser focus aimed directly at a practiced sidestepper pickled in snake oil who drenched himself with the V for Victory sign…or, wait a minute…maybe he was shovin’ the Flower Power peace sign at us – from the escape helicopter’s shadowy steps.

Presidential irony seldom pans out for the people…it’s usually at our expense. But most Americans, and perhaps others as well, recognized that a couple of traditional things were glaringly missing as Milhouse left town – the tar and the feathers.

Anyway, it was with agonizing relief that we watched the helicopter that carried him as it churned away into the sky – and we couldn’t help but notice an immediate lightening of atmosphere and mood about the place. If you’d ever wanted to say ‘Good Bye and Good Riddance’  to or about anyone, Nixon’s departure in shame was definitely the time to speak up. His drunken bwa-ha-has had permeated and soured our neighborhoods while making mockery of any trust anyone ever had in him as president.

If you think I over express on the Nixon matter, it may be because you weren’t there at the time. But the Saturnian old is the Uranian new, so Presidential trespasses are of the moment, aren’t they?

So now it’s December 2008, and a movie is released…

That this film on the subject of presidential over-reach is airing itself in public now when Bush is about to slink away from the scene of his Oval Office crimes seems fitting for the collective’s benefit to have a thespianesque demonstration of how to be indignant when your country has been decimated by rotten, fraudulent leadership of the megalomaniac kind.

Closer to the truth? If the American people do it, it’s not illegal.

And all side-windin’ politicians? They need to pay their own legal bills.

FDR quotes and Uranus rising

Heads-up here at Jude’s Threshold – a fresh Page is now in the sidebar column: ‘Enduring Words from FDR & natal Uranus rising.’

Born in 1882, our 32nd president served three full terms and part of a fourth. With Rx Uranus rising in Virgo, he was one-of-kind personally and politically, and was blessed with inspiring and uplifting oratory skills.

The list of my favorite FDR quotes will be updated as time allows, and a post or Page concerning his natal chart is in the works, so stay tuned, if you may.

As do many Americans who are celebrating Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, I have out-of-town family members arriving this evening, so blogging time may be brief this week. Or maybe not – for it has developed that I will not be doing all the cooking as first supposed – yippee!

Hope everyone has a great holiday with family and friends, because it’s all about being grateful to be together to celebrate our blessings, isn’t it? We, too, have had a recent job loss hit, and who knows what’s in store for the near future.

But for now, it will be great just being with loved ones. And the pies. Don’t forget the pies and cranberries! A la mode, Y’all!
