Saturn in Sagittarius: the Joyful Child grows up

Well done and comprehensive!

Astrology: Questions and Answers

Saturn is settling down for his journey through the exuberant, joyful sign of Sagittarius for the next two years or so. Mars is currently conjunct Jupiter in Virgo (in my First House) as I  reflect on the importance of Jupiter’s natural, spontaneous exuberance being modified and curbed by Saturn’s practicality and realism if we want to generate anything lasting in our lives. This reflection has made me think of  the importance of retaining the capacity for simple joy, as Life tosses its inevitable challenges our way.

Beautiful Saturn Beautiful Saturn image

In honouring both Jupiter and Saturn, then, let us first celebrate the spontaneous, resilient, Joyful Child within all of us, explore how it fares as we mature. If we are lucky, this part manages to survive the batterings, brutalities and tragedies of existence,  continuing to provide inspiration and faith that life is worth living.

Who, exactly, is this Child? The basic stuff of which…

Trudeau Dynasty : Oligarchy and Nixon

The Oligarch Kings

The most interesting snippit of Oligarchical news this week was that young Justin Trudeau had been elected Prime Minister of Canada.

Now this blog principally concerns itself with the oligarchical politics of the United States, but allows the occasional afternoon off to look at other democracies where the interests of the population are being placed at risk by an oligarchical elite whose primary duty is to their own interests.

The risks inherent with Oligarchy need to be noted wherever they occur. Even in seemingly unlikely soil like Canada, oligarch shall speak to oligarch.

It can be fascinating to see that these oligarchy’s recognise and support each other.

The photograph at the top of the post is of a meeting way back in April 1972 when President Nixon met with Justin’s father Pierre Trudeau. Justin was just four months old and had been brought along for the trip. It helped Margaret…

“I have known autumn too long”: e e cummings captures Autumn’s fleeting melancholy

Autumn, my favorite season!

Writing from the Twelfth House

Today, feeling drifty and pleasantly melancholic as befits the season, I went looking for an apt quote to accompany my two autumn pictures, taken earlier this week on a glorious, cooling, sunlit autumnal walk toward my office at the far edge of lovely Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow, Scotland, UK .Here is the quote, from one of my favourite poets,e.e.cummings, born, appropriately, on 14th October. For me, it strikes the right note of  both simplicity, power and bleakness.

“A wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and all the leaves away, and the trees stand. I think, I too, have known autumn too long.”

e. e. cummings

Enjoy the photos! Feel free, also, to add a favourite autumnal quote of your own in the comments box, should the spirit of autumn move you to do so…

Horoscope: Evangeline Adams

Natal Horoscope Feb 8, 1869

Natal Horoscope Feb 8, 1868

Image: Evangeline Adams February 8, 1868 8:30 am LMT Jersey city, New Jersey; please enlarge to read a few basic chart factors messily penned on.

Above you see the natal horoscope of famed American astrologer Evangeline Smith Adams. However, its accuracy is in question with a Rodden Rating of DD for ‘Dirty Data’ yet it is the data she herself gave in her book, The Bowl of Heaven and has been used by many astrologers through the years.

Since one of the books I am currently reading is Foreseeing the Future: Evangeline Adams and Astrology in America by Karen Christino, I naturally wanted a look at her natal chart and noticed that Evangeline Adams is in process of a Saturn Return! And with Saturn being the traditional ruler of the ancient art of Astrology, I wanted to post her chart as a tribute to her pioneering work of the 19th century when she reportedly served a client list of 100,000! Adams established herself as an independent woman of business when that sort of thing was very rarely done.

And even non-astrologers have heard the tale of one of her most famous clients (and students), J. P. Morgan, and his revealing quote that, “Millionaires don’t use Astrology, billionaires do.” One must assume that this remains the case for both Financial Markets and Astrology are based on cycles within cycles so why not pay heed to the excellent timing advantage one has through the use of astrological principles?

Well, this post is not meant to be a major study of the natal chart of Ms. Adams though more info may be published later. Let’s do make note of the three dates of her current Saturn Return/s–a ‘three-fer’ due to Saturn’s retrogradation though her natal Saturn @4Sag40 is Direct as you see which emphasizes the third and final conjunction of transiting Saturn to 4Sag40 (1. denial; 2. acceptance; 3. resolution):

1. February 25, 2015;
2. March 31, 2015; and
3. November 6, 2015
which is yet to come as of this posting.

Now her Mercury-North Node opposition denotes her Mercury conjunct South Node (ideas before her time; others pilfer and use her ideas without giving her credit) and the opposition points toward her natal Saturn in the 9th house of Philosophy, Religion, Higher Education, and Foreign Lands. Legal Matters may also be found in the 9th house expecially involving Higher Courts such as SCOTUS.

(Enlarge chart to read Mercury-NN = Saturn potentials, upper right.)

As the ruler of Capricorn (government, law, and business), Saturn is one of the karmic planets acting as our celestial time keeper and lesson bringer who demands that what is reaped must be sown (as a Saturnian astrologer I don’t ‘do’ past lives, just heredity and DNA). No one escapes this natural law–not even big bankers, Wall Street gentry, or government officials (with warmongers and mass murderers definitely included.)

So! Will the 2015 Saturn Return of Evangeline Adams affect current events (beyond this post!) in a karmic way? Perhaps not. But now that her chart and Return dates are noted and spotlighted we’ll have to see if the famous 19th century prognosticator of cycles somehow imprints upon current events once again.

Paul and Janna Ryan: Wedding Day Astrology

Paul Ryan for Speaker of the House? He says, No. A difficult job at best esp when you have small children. Or is that only an excuse?!?

Jude's Threshold

Republican Rep. Paul Ryan proposed marriage to tax attorney Janna Little in April 2000 and they were wed in Oklahoma City, OK on December 2, 2000 with approximately 400 guests attending. (Click link for more details.)

Now if the Ryans’ wedding ceremony took place at or after 9:23 pm CST, the Moon (feminine principle) had entered Pisces. If before, the Moon was in Aquarius; in both cases, the Sun (male principle) was in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius in the 10Sag21 to 11Sag22 degree range. (Dec 2, 2000 12 am CST to 11:59 pm CST.)

(Astro-Note: as a pair, the luminaries–Sun and Moon–indicate Marriage.)

And as you know, idealistic Jupiter’s natural abode is the 9th house of Philosophy, Religion, and Higher Education. Plus, the Sun (husband) conjoined Pluto on that day (Pluto @12Sag39 noon CST) and neared Chiron 19Sag09. Synchronistically, the Wedding Moon at noon (@25AQ20) conjoined and reflected asteroid Juno, the…

Eclipse Babies

From Julie Demboski here are valuable insights concerning ‘eclipse babies’ using Anderson Cooper’s mother Gloria Vanderbilt as an example. Of course Britain’s Prince William is another example of one born on an eclipse day and the intensity and ‘eventful life’ tendencies common in the lives of ‘eclipse babies’ are easy to see when such a life is lived under the glare of a thousand spotlights:

Pope Francis canonizes controversial saint Junípero Serra

Very glad to reblog this revealing article with a correctly timed natal horoscope. Sainthood is not at all what I personally would prescribe for this man but then I’m no fan of the Vatican:

Anthony Louis - Astrology & Tarot Blog

On Wednesday 23 September 2015 in Washington, DC, Pope Francis canonized the controversial Spanish missionary Junípero Serro, despite the fact that Serra had not met all the church requirements for sainthood.  He had not performed the two requisite miracles, but perhaps the canonization of this brutal colonist counts as his second miracle.  The Pope had to give Serra a special dispensation from church rules to elevate him to sainthood. The Holy Father’s motive appears to be political, that is, a thinly disguised attempt to appeal to the Hispanic population of the New World by giving them a saint of Spanish origin despite his well-known practices of whipping, beating and flogging Native Americans to force them to believe in the love of Christ.

Historical records reveal that Friar Serra attacked the dignity of the native community, sadistically mistreating and abusing Native Americans to force them to accept his version of the deity. Serra’s tactics were not unlike those…

Five Fascinating Facts about ‘Jabberwocky’

fantastic! ‘Lewis Carroll’ is a fascinating fellow

Interesting Literature

Interesting facts about the classic nonsense poem, ‘Jabberwocky’

1. The poem ‘Jabberwocky’ gave us a number of new words which are now in pretty common use. The most famous of these is ‘chortle’, a kind of laugh that is a blend of a ‘chuckle’ and a ‘snort’. But the poem – which was written, of course, by Lewis Carroll – also gave us the word ‘galumph’ (to walk clumsily and noisily) and ‘slithy’, in the sense of ‘lithe and slimy’. ‘Jabberwocky’ may also have influenced our modern use of the word ‘mimsy’, though this remains difficult to determine (‘mimsy’ already existed with a similar meaning, though Carroll’s poem probably helped to popularise it).
