Full Moon of February 2015

Grandtrines

The full moon of February 2015 has several interesting patterns.  Top of the list is the focused yod:

2015-02 February Full Moon Focused Yod (Basic)

(Some of you might recall that we had a “focused yod” in December of 2012.)  We note that the focal point of the yod is the Moon with the Sun in direct opposition (i.e. it is a full moon).  One leg ends in Chiron (the wounded healer) and the other leg ends in Pluto (death and radical transformation).  Remember, one leg of a yod is not necessarily “better” than the other, and we are typically dissatisfied with the choice we made in hindsight.  The wounded healer might sound better than death, but a lingering misery may not be preferable to a quick end.  We will all have to make choices at this time, and do remember that “choosing not to choose” is a choice…

Obama’s Political Cousin Dies In Suspicious Circumstances.

The Oligarch Kings

1

Fidel Odinga is dead. He had been out drinking and eating last night with friends, who seem to have included a number of “politically committed” individuals. At some point in the evening Fidel said he had a stomach ache, and complained of shortness of breath and went home. He was found by his wife this morning dead in the spare bedroom of his home.

Fidel Odinga was the eldest son of Raila Odinga who was a former Prime Minister of Kenya and more importantly for this blog, a first cousin of President Barak Obama. You either can’t keep a good family down, or oligarchy knows no political boundaries. Me I’ll go with the latter.

Fidel was not a member of parliament, but he seems to have been being groomed to step up to take his rightful anointed place in Kenya’s Parliament shortly. Indeed he caused quite some consternation by arriving…

Mercury Retrograde Makes the New York Times Sunday Magazine

Sky Writer

© January 12, 2015 by Donna Cunningham—and the New York Times

I never thought I’d see the day, but Mercury retrograde was given an entire article in the New York Times Sunday Magazine yesterday. The article was articulate and informative in enumerating both the astrological and astronomical facts about the planet Mercury.

Due to its closeness to the sun, it has 372 craters, each one named for a creative artist of some sort, from writers to poets and graphic artists. There’s even a Walt Disney crater and one for Hemingway and another for Johan Sebastian Bach. (“Retrograde Beliefs– in Defense of Magical Thinking,” © by Kristen Dombeck, New York Sunday Times Magazine, January 11, 2015, pp. 11-12.)

Since most copies of that issue will be in the recycling bin by the time this appears on Skywriter, I’ll quote verbatim from the article. I plan to willfully exceed the 40-word limit on…

Astrology of the Death of the Kouachi brothers in Paris hostage situation

Grandtrines

We cast this chart “live” as the confirmation of the death of the Kouachi brothers in the Paris hostage situation was reported by CNBC.  We note that the Moon opposition to Chiron / Neptune is active during this process, with Moon having set slightly before the report, Neptune having just risen, and Chiron rising.

(This is the Plano chart, cast local to astrologer.  If you are a regular reader, you know why we do this.  Just in case you are not: we do this because it takes into account that we are viewing the event through our own personal “lens.”  Since this is a clear-cut event in a particular location, we will provide that chart also.)

Compare this to the chart for the Boston Marathon bombing (with Chiron / Neptune setting).  Unlike Boston, we also have Mars in play (who probably represents the hostage taker at the…

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel is essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…
