A Look at America’s Natal Chiron in Aries
Since Jude’s Threshold has attained a new Follower this week (awww…how nice!), a new post seemed called for but I had already planned to republish some information previously published to Stars Over Washington.
So here it is, with a few minor edits for readability’s sake and I’m consulting the usual ‘Sibly’ horoscope for America’s natal chart (July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT Philadelphia, PA) which gives our nation a 4th house (Domestic Scene; one of the psychological houses) Chiron @20Ari08.
Applying (conscious) and Separating (unconscious) Planetary Aspects to US Natal Chiron:
1. US n Mercury square n Chiron gives great mental perception and intuition but leads to extreme opinionation. (US Mercury @24Can11 Rx in 8th house.)
2. US n Saturn @14Lib48 in n 10th house opposes n Chiron, an aspect which describes conflict with the more rigid elements of society (Nolle) and shows America to be a “rigid fighter for humanitarian causes” (Clow.) Of course, the American Revolution is part of this energy as are all the Chiron aspects described here–and they are part of the American psyche we carry into the future.
3. US n Sun (@13Can19 in 7th house) squares n Chiron (6A48) indicating difficulty letting go of control (Clow) and of authority issues. You probably know that the natal Sun of the Republican Party conjoins US natal Sun which apparently gives the paternalistic GOP a constant sense that they should always be the party in charge of the US government.
4. US n Mars (@21Gem22 in 7th house of Partners and Open Enemies) sextiles n Chiron but the aspect is separating (1S14) so the unconscious quality makes it difficult if not impossible for most people to discern. This is a ‘sacred warrior’ signature and I’m certain America’s meddling misadventures across the globe is what you’re thinking of as am I for it gives our nation a sense of being able to ‘do anything’ it so desires and provides us with the courage to try.
Chiron in 4th house identifies America as the God-Motherhood-Apple Pie nation. Expert astrologer Richard Nolle says of a 4th house Chiron that “roots hold the key to destiny” with “a cultural legacy that predates and survives it.” Yes, we have a deep connection to our revolutionary roots, don’t we? Discovering who we really are in the world has been a major task for our nation though most of the people I know don’t agree with Washington’s assessment of “our place” as the belligerent gorilla on the march toward pre-emptive war, conquest, and domination. This 4th house placement may also be seen by the popular use of Genealogy to discover family roots and personal identity.
Chiron in Mars-ruled Aries denotes “pioneers, trailblazers, and mavericks” (Nolle) and this sign position supports the ‘sacred warrior’ mentality that our government–and those who direct it from afar–have exalted to the point of exhausting its citizens, our National Treasury, and our nation’s credibility as a “humanitarian nation” who only wants to “spread democracy” for altruistic reasons, no matter how many guns and bombs it takes.
What tragically deceptive illusions such political slogans have proven to be!
And the Sabian Symbol for America’s natal Chiron (21Aries)? “A Pugilist Entering the Ring” (Jones) which pertains to the world stage, of course, but also on an individual level to domestic violence in the 4th house of Home and Security.
