Is your food hexxed by hexane?

Levels of a dangerous neurotoxin, hexane are allowed at much higher rates in the US food supply than in the Eurozone’s foods, as with many other damaging chemicals and additives.

Yes, we Americans seem to be the food and chemical industries’ favorite guinea pigs through the years and apparently, we’ll eat anything as long as it’s charmingly or intriguingly marketed…and the more inexpensive the better.

Since soy sausage patties came on the US market over 30 years ago, my family and I have preferred them to meat sausages so it’s disturbing to find that we’ve been consuming dangerous levels of hexane all along. Canola oil was a staple in my kitchen for years but no longer for it too is contaminated with hexane.

Beginning several years ago, even my gynocologist said soy was good for me! Turns out our bodies need hexaned-soy like they need the other hormone disruptors our foods are laced with. That the US FDA is complicit in the scheme to weaken the American people’s health seems obvious to me. Plus, I’m lookin’ at You, healthcare industry and the AMA!

Horrible hexane is a petroleum by-product used in the process of extracting oil from seeds so it’s worth your time (if you chow down in the USA) to ferret out the products and manufacturers who use this cheap and readily available ingredient (since 1930!) in the foods you and your family consume and take whatever steps you can to avoid them as much as possible.

And perhaps ask your congress members and the President: why do you allow the American people to be poisoned into ill health on a daily basis?

At least, that’s my advice for the New Year!

2011: will Earth’s ‘twin planet’ be found?

Seemingly it may be possible that in 2011, Earth’s twin planet may be found.

That’s quite a headline for the end of 2010 and the start of a New Year, isn’t it? Why, this idea mimics Astrology’s ‘twin’ or ‘dark’ moon theories and may indicate major changes within astrological thought and provide a spur for space exploration as well as flipping over our brains from their usual ruts!

It could even trump many of the other scientific discoveries in the news now during the current Jupiter/Uranus cycle (at or near Aries Point) of breakthroughs and enlightened ideas.

For decades Science has been determined to clone an Ice Aged woolly mammoth and yet some of us retain many personal misgivings about this boundary-breaking project.

Wishing You Happy Holidays, Everyone! Jude

And Art appears: Hermesia!

Look, it’s mercurial Hermesia thinking of past and future while simultaneously planning to languish about this weekend and get herself in the mood for a cozy hibernating season 2010!

Yet still the curiosity of Mercury’s handmaiden, Hermesia, continues…

Lawsuit leaks US spy’s ID

Not WikiLeaks this time but a lawsuit over US drone strikes in Pakistan killing innocent people has revealed the name of an American spy.

He has fled for safety after receiving death threats.

Moon in Taurus, Assange freed, and John Milton 12-16-10

Well, WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange will be freed on bail today or tomorrow and won’t have to spend Christmas in a Victorain-era prison, and astrologer Julie Demboski takes a look at what’s going on over our noggins today, December 16, 2010, with the Moon leaving Aries behind and happy to be exalted in Taurus. Julie writes on today’s Material Consequences in and from Pacific Time so be sure to catch up with her insightful analysis.

Mercury Rx in early Capricorn continues backing up toward Sagittarius and will be crossing the threshold of ’30Sag’ soon, the “The Pope Blessing the Faithful” degree (and I’m sure he does) as the planet of negotiations, messages, and The Mind leaves Pluto’s Cap neighborhood for a while but soon to reunite.

Today’s Sun Sag-Moon Tau blend is a Fire-Earth ‘scorched earth’ combination of energies which holds entrenched beliefs, has much self-confidence, and exhibits extravagant tastes. It loves pleasant surroundings and familiar faces and is a ‘practical philosopher’ blend that loves to know all the facts and has a tendency to let others pick up the bill…kind of like the richest 2% taking public dole from the new tax cut deal between Mr. Obama and the GOP – which makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.

No kudos for you on this one, Washington, for you’re still up to the same old class warfare tricks so favored by the plutocratic combo of Pluto/Chiron, here in our US oligarchy.

Of course, the transiting Pluto/Chiron midpoint is on the Midheaven Point (Goal) of the Inauguration 2009 horoscope so the Obama-GOP collusion against the disenfranchised is no big surprise here.

Speaking of finances, you may find today’s Images for Integration for Sun Sag-Moon Tau of interest: “A pirate ship searches for gold…An armchair traveller roughs out a financial plan for his next adventure.”

(Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Charles & Suzi Harvey.)

This blend is shared natally by the great John Milton who wrote the following which reminds me of a man sitting in a Victorian-era prison cell:

“A mind not to be changed by place or time.
The mind is its own place, and in itself
Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.”

12.14.10: Modest Goals and Mona Lisa’s eyes

This is a glad shout-out to Julie Demboski’s analysis of the astro-atmosphere for Tuesday December 14, 2010 which you may find useful since Julie’s article Modest Goals clues us in to what’s on the universe’s front burner for today!

Also, you may have glommed onto the news about secret codes – numbers and letters – recently located within the enigmatic eyes of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of the Mona Lisa.

Well, yesterday I pondered upon a possible astrological explanation for one of the mysterious discoveries, the number 72 which relates to the quintile aspect (5th harmonic) and Renaissance Man da Vinci’s amazing gift of artistic creativity!

Wintry Thoughts for December 13, 2010

Today is Monday December 13, 2010 and the US is gripped in Winter’s grasp in many regions of our nation with 8 days to go until Winter Solstice 2010. Yes, WordPress’ snowflakes across the page look festive and perfect for the season!

Now no one knows why the muse of bad poetry tends to light rather frequently upon my shoulder. If I could explain it I could probably stop it. But not today for I’m in a holiday mood that begs for snowy expression however minor it may be:

As wintry winds begin to blow
remember Mama told you so
your scarf and mittens are a must
to counter winter’s freezing gust!

And if you have a moment, you’ll find it won’t take a sled but only a simple click to discover my latest science-y/poem-y blog Woolly Mammoth Chronicles where I express in rhyme my personal misgivings about Science’s plan to clone from fossil DNA a long-extinct relic of the Ice Age, the woolly mammoth.

My ‘Odes to a Woolly Mammoth’ are the inexplicable result, plus, Science News links and odd videos are included as well so check it out and answer the woolly mammoth poll, upper right, if you wish to weigh in on the weighty woollie’s proposed return to ‘life’ – or to some Frankensteinian version of it.

Also, your feathers may be ruffled to know that my Political Astrology blog Stars Over Washington was updated this morning concerning the astro-atmosphere on Capitol Hill: this week’s lame duck session is marked by Monday’s Fire-Water combination of The Seeker and The Mystic!

The Winter Solstice 2010 horoscope is there as well: see sidebar for Top Ten SO’W posts which is where you’ll find my December 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse article with chart image, too.

Hope you keep your feathers dry and warm! jc
