Our Buyers’ Remorse midterms: Venus Rx

Thanks to the excellent sleuthing capabilities of astrologer John Townley, a broader picture emerges concerning the ‘buyers’ remorse’ effect so prevalent from this and previously seen midterm election results.

Allow John to explain about our early November elections having Venus retrograde, a clear signature of ‘buyers’ remorse’!

Prevailing wisdom is to Never Buy Anything Important when Venus is Rx – and that apparently goes for politicians. Thing is, Venus was Rx during the 2010 Nov midterms – so which newly-electeds will we wish we could return (Rx) as defective?

Stars Over Washington; Venus will be Direct by then but still moving through Scorpio and nearly at the Eagle Point (15 Sco.)

  1. Jude: I intended my remarks for the “Winter Solstice Chart 2010” and not under the Midterm Elections “Buyers’ Remorse’ posting.

As a Florida voter, I agree with the Rx Venus “Buyer’s Remorse” depiction. And really it does go along quite well with the picture of the Jan 20, 2009 Rx Mercury, VOC Moon at 29 Scorpio pic as ‘nothing changes.’

Now with the 2010 Midterms, we can see the electorate trying to get out of this mess. This is a mess which as you most astutely noted began under Ronald Reagan’s regime — the overturning of the Glass-Steagall banking reforms and the injection of fantasy monetary policy: ‘The Laffer Curve,’ “Trickle-Down” economics, adventurism in foreign affairs (Iran-Contra), and not to be forgotten, the rise of the NeoCons.

    • Thank You, Prof Higgins! Yes, Reagan’s ‘legacy’ still bedevils the nation and the political landscape, when really, Reagan was one of the most murderous presidents in US history, a trait which underlies, i believe, the cold heartedness of today’s neocon warhawks who think nothing of bombing innocent women and children to make their profits on the way to ruling the world w violence and goose-stepping hero worship. Kind of like the way some people worship Reagan. Jude

  2. Thank you for putting up this chart. Personally, I have been aware of this lunar eclipse for some time, because it is within 25′ of arc from my natal MC.

As you know, on June 21, 1982 there was a solar eclipse at this point (at about 29Gem45′) which was even closer to my own MC and it was indeed a noticeable event – and not a pleasant one.

(Also from a mundane point of view, it was within just a few hours from Prince William of Wales’ birth.)

Susan Miller has some pointers about ‘how to deal with an eclipse’ in which she lists what the careful-treader might to do in order to prepare for an eclipse. Her delineation left me with these questions so I wondered if you might have any comments or further remarks:

Ms. Miller said that the effects of an eclipse might be felt “as much as four months after the eclipse;” or – ‘when a planet triggered the eclipse.’

I noted from the Ephemeris that Mars will cross this eclipse point around 9pm or so (Eastern time) on August 2, 2011. Is that ‘outside’ the time limit? Or becaise Mars is ‘famous’ as a catalyst of events, would August 2, 2011 be something to lookout for or would it be outside of the ‘cone’ of concern?(borrowing from TV weather commentator’s language.)

    Thanks again for this chart.

    Thanks.

    • You’re welcome for the chart such as it fretsomely is! Yes, the 1982 Solar Ecl (2 Old North) was a doozy and repeated on July 1, 1000 @ 10Can15: unfortunate news concerning relationships; schisms and rifts; things look glum but improve as what should be done is quickly grasped and fast action brings good results; theme is personal realtionships (Brady.)

Yes, Mars is famous as a trigger and i suspect its hit of the Ecl degree on Aug 2, 2011 will be an important stimulus. Never heard of the ‘4 months’ rule esp since Solar Ecls are usually for ‘6 mos’ with the stronger ones sensitive for an undetermined length of time. Personally i think Nostradmaus’ Mother of All Ecls (“King of Terror” Ecl of Aug 11, 1999) is still be affected by transits and progressions – as the Eclipse of the Century, it’s ‘good for’ 100 years.

And yes, i had noticed that this is Prince William’s birth eclipse. The Initial Ecl in the 2 Old North Series occurred on June 24, 792 (OS) which is an interesting year to sleuth into for more info (it ends on July 23, 2036 when William will be 54 yrs old) since ecl themes continue as history repeats w similar themes.

Thanks a bunch for commenting – i will answer your 2nd comment separately. Jude
