John Townley explains a fated point, the Vertex

A few years ago as I drove in the rain on a dark night to meet family for my birthday dinner, a young driver suddenly crashed into the driver’s side of my car sending it spinning across the slippery highway.

All ended well but I was eager to get home and look at the chart of the collision (I had just looked at my wristwatch a moment before she hit.) The most surprising thing in the collision chart was that the transiting Vertex, a point of fate or karma, was precisely to the minute conjunct my natal Ic, the point of Endings. Precisely.

Naturally, there were good portents in the chart as well and a guardian angel on my shoulder or I might not be here now typing this at you!

So if you’ve ever wondered about the Vertex and Anti-Vertex in a horoscope, please allow expert astrologer John Townley of AstroCocktail to fill you in on what the axis is, how it’s calculated, and how astrologers use it in charts.

  1. John, how right you (so often) are! Your Vertex explanation is the best, btw. Jude

  2. Thanks for the addition to Vertex lore…it’s spooky, usually in retrospect, every time…!
