Thomas Frank’s new book out August 5

Seldom do I promote an author’s book unless I’ve read and am personally recommending it but Thomas Frank’s new book, The Wrecking Crew, explains the conservative approach to de-governing and dismantling the US government more fully than any book before it.

Think, ‘Katrina response’ or ‘no response on 9/11’ or ‘ bin Laden who?’ or ‘reconstruct Iraq’ or ______  (fill in the blank – I know ya can – there’re a million of ’em.)

It’s 11:25 am edt here and I’m waiting for Fresh Air to come on at noon with an interview with the author. Fresh Air’s interview will be available on their site probably later today in case you miss it on the radio.

Here’s a link to Mr. Frank’s site where you can read about his book and order it if you like:

Update 5:30 pm edt: okay, here’s NPR’s link – you can read or listen:

While there scroll down a smidge for an Art SlideShow!

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel is essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…
