USA: Cornwallis’ Surrender 1781 + Inauguration 2009
As one of the several Natal charts for America, the moment chosen by Gen George Washington as surrender time for Gen Cornwallis of the British forces is as good as any to use as the USA’s Natal chart–perhaps more descriptive than some. The revolutionary charade was ended and things could find their own levels, couldn’t they? For a while at least.
Of course, 1781 is about 5 years beyond the most oft-used chart for America–July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence chart. On one level, this chart may be said to relate to the Idea or Ideal of America–we gave England notice of our intentions.
Brings to mind “A Slave-Girl Demanding Her Rights of Her Mistress” = “12Gem” which is the Descendant/Partnership point in the Declaration of Independence for July 4, 1776, 5:10 pm LMT, Philadelphia, PA.

But what you do see are highlighted in Pink…the chart for America (1781) is partially marked in Blue.

2009 Inaugural Moon 29Sco45 is conjunct US Moon 29Sco03 and US Jupiter 29Sco16…a pile-up sensitizing the “30Sco” degree and linking 1781 with 2009–as it relates to America–and trying really hard to tell us something.
Now you’re right, that IS a lot of critical-degreed Scorpio and squooshed against “1Sag” as well–the “A Grand Army of the Republic campfire” degree. I mean, good flyin’ crap, on Inauguration Day 2009, the Moon will be basically performing a Lunar Retrun to the 1781 chart at a difficult degree…”30Sco”: “A Halloween Jester.”
If that jester turns out to be George Bush or anyone like him, things will be worse than I thought, m’peops.
Tricksters roaming the streets! Or October Surprises galore!
Of course, on one level, this Inaugural Moon COULD BE a layday…a Rodham-Clinton layday with 2009’s Jupiter “4AQ”: “A Hindu Healer Glows with a Mystic Healing Power”…and Jupiter is conj the heliocentric North Node of asteroid, Eros, ‘the piercing.’ Mythologically, Eros is also related to love, cupid’s bow and arrow, asteroid Cupido (which signifies: The Family; the syndicate; corporatism, organizations, Art, and marriage.)
Yet in a national chart, Inaugural Moon = The People on a certain level, and that’s what I’d like to ignore here.
So what does the excellent astrologer from Down Under, Lynda Hill, give for the “30Sco” degree in her *section on Cautions?
unable to connect with real and immediate emotions; contempt for the establishment (well, they shouldn’t be crime-syndicate-ridden if they want real respect-jc); “mucking around” without getting to the core of things (Washington politicians–jc); evading one’s responsibilities through being silly or madcap; not respecting other people’s boundaries (NSA, Bush and Cheney, etc–jc.)

I looked at Cheney’s progressed chart and saw that he has Pluto on his MC (29 degrees of Cancer)I know very little about astrology but I do remember an astrologer talking about 29 degrees as something awesome. Can you comment on this. Thanks for your column, I do enjoy reading it.

Yes, 29 degr of any sign ranks as a critical or crisis degree and is said to vibrate at a very high frequency. A planet at 29 degr is ‘in a hurry’ to get to the next sign and was considered in olden days to be a malefic degree–I suspect that’s still the case for a planet’s energies here–or a point such as Mc–must be handled carefully and indicates critical timing issues.
It will manifest because it’s on an angle of the chart so perhaps Cheney is feeling the pinch of his ongoing vexations…look for transits or other triggers to it as long as 29 degr is on his Mc, the most public point of any chart.
And interestingly, the Sabian Symbol for ‘30Can’ is “A Daughter of the American Revolution’…hmmm…he’s caused quite a revolution of reforms, hasn’t he? Another thing about 29 degr is a possible health connection–with Mc going from Moon-ruled Cancer to SUN-ruled Leo, his heart may be in the news again–healthwise, that is.
The timing of his ‘29 Can at Mc’ can depend, however, on what House System you use. I pretty much stick to Placidus unless looking at a chart from Regiomantanus days gone by! jc
