Yes, a brief family vacation in Raleigh NC was wonderful and relaxing yet it’s good to be back and blogging on Politics through the lens of Astrology!

And since I tend to spontaneously compose at keyboard, this post is a brief heads-up to the New Moon chart with details now freshly published at Stars Over Washington, if you’re game.

Plain English is used so if you don’t speak astrologese, don’t fret, just click!

Yet one thing I neglected to mention in the post is the Sabian Symbol of the New Moon’s Midheaven (chart is set for Washington DC, edt); Mc is the Aspirations/Goal Point of any horoscope. This may be of interest to you especially if you happen to be in California or have connections there, so I shall add it here for your consideration, quoting from Dane Rudhyar’s ‘An Astrological Mandala’:

Will the New Moon of May 13, 2010 mark a new phase of political activity and cooperation as it effects the establishment of a one-world-government, aka a ‘New World Order’?

Well, if we begin to hear of Democrats and Republicans entering a new phase of cooperation to ‘get things done’, I for one will be feeling that their masks are finally being dropped in public and the them-against-us reality of Politics is being outed because they assume they’re about to successfully implement such totalitarian plans over all opposition from we-the-people.

Or, perhaps May 13 will simply bring us a New Moon in Taurus!

Chiron and Sun/Venus

Master astrologer Zane Stein, an early watcher of and author on Chiron, has written an informative article which reveals the importance of the Sun/Venus cycle and Chiron which you will find intriguing for the Mars/Venus relationship is also involved.

Mr. Stein predicts that much more about Chiron will soon come to light…that what we think we know of the Wounded Healer archetype in an Astrology chart is only the mere tip of a vast iceberg.

You remember the Sabian Symbol of Chiron’s Nov 1, 1977 discovery degree, right?

From Dane Rudhyar’s ‘An Astrological Mandala’…

’4 Taurus’: “The Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow”…Keynote: Riches that come from linking the celestial and the earthly natures.

This refers to “the bridge used by divine beings to communicate with mortals.”

Rudhyar goes on to note that the rainbow is symbol of universally valid wealth: “All wealth, in a very real sense, comes from “commerce”; i.e. from the commingling of minds and from contracts, and thus is based on faith in the validity of a promise.”

Now if we can find some residual faith in commerce and the Fed – our faith now in tatters since today’s revelation of the Fed’s lying to us last Fall about banks being sound – we should be able to move on with new commercial pursuits and ‘bridge’ this economy back together for us mere mortals in spite of a deceptive upper class who imagine themselves to be ‘immortal beings’ deserving of all the world’s wealth because they know how to work the system they invented to enrich themselves while keeping the lower classes enslaved in debt and penury.

Full Moon in Scorpio May 9, 2009

In Washington, DC at 1 minute 22 seconds after Midnight edt, May 9, 2009 will perfect a Scorpio Full Moon 18Sco41 in 10th house.

Since images of charts display more clearly at my Stars Over Washington blog, I’ve placed it and quite a few notes there if you wish to peruse.

May 9′s Sun Taurus-Moon Scorpio blend details have been plopped sassily upon my new blog Two Hours You’ll Never Get Back if you’d like to check it out (sassiness appreciated but not required.)

And what of the Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol? I hear you say rather crossly.

Let’s consider ’19Sco’ and the Sun’s position opposite ’19Tau’ which is the Illumination Point.

Usually I check out the opposite degree, the Illumination Point, to gather unconscious information, but since the Sun is considered conscious and the Moon unconscious, we’ll simply check them both as illuminators of one another, if it’s okay by you.

It’s part of the highlighting a Full Moon is famous for when hidden things, often begun at the previous New Moon and the dark (Balsamic) phase for the 3 days prior, may come to full light.

The following will be a blend of Sabian Symbol interpretations from Marc Edmund Jones and Dane Rudhyar.

Moon ’19Sco’ (MEJ): “A Parrot Listening and Then Talking.’ CONVENTIONALITY.

positive expression: exceptional skill in bring the whole tenor of transient circumstances to the service of a personal aspiration;

neg/unconscious/shadow side: idle mimicry and self-gratifying pretense.

’19Sco’ (DR): ‘A Parrot Repeats the Conversation He Has Overheard.’

CHANNELSHIP.

Keynote: The capacity to transmit transcendental knowledge.

Sun ’19Tau’ (MEJ): ‘A Newly Formed Continent.’ ORIGINALITY.

pos: a revolutionary potentiality by which each individual is enabled to remodel the entire face of the universe;

neg/unconscious/shadow side: a genius for futile turmoil and persistent upset.

’19Tau’ (DR): ‘A New Continent Rising Out of the Ocean.’

Keynote: The surge of new potentiality after a crisis. SPONTANEITY. #

The DR version above for ’19Tau’ describes reaching ‘a state in which the conscious, rational ego is no longer a controlling factor’ but for me it conjures the power elite’s striving for world domination. Ex: America as Francis Bacon’s ‘New Atlantis’ and Thomas More’s ‘Utopia.’

(Perhaps it’s simply a case of too much Political Astrology on my brain. Tiresome? Yes, I KNOW.)

Considering that the unconscous mind is always stronger than the conscious mind, it sounds to me as if the Scorpio Full Moon is in control here especially since Rudhyar explains the Moon’s ’19Sco’ degree as ‘a hint as to man’s capacity to attune himself to sources of higher wisdom if he can be sufficiently attentive and careful in channeling a “Higher Voice.”

The Symbol’s stress on unintelligent repetition in its word picture ‘is to use only one’s intellect. All birds in symbolism suggest spiritual faculties or forces. What is evoked is the possibility of learning from higher Intelligences.”

Well, to me it seems that higher thoughts and information from On High would improve this troubled world, yet I doubt Mr. Rudhar was speaking of going to see the new Star Trek film for “higher Intelligences.”

Or was he? ;p

Obama’s major address 4.14.09

Pres. Obama is delivering what is being billed by his staff as a ‘major address’ today at Georgetown University and will talk about the financial mess he ‘inherited’ in January, the steps his administration has taken, and what else will be done concerning the Big Three: housing, banking, and financial industries.

These are three spots of the US financial system that could use Obama magic to pull a rabbit (-fish) out of a hat.

Perhaps he can use the hat from the Sabian Symbol for the US Inaugural Ascendant degree ’15 Taurus’ with the ASC representing the office of the president (noon, Jan 20, 2009, Capitol Bldg, DC):

‘A Man with Rakish Silk Hat, Muffled, Braves the Storm.’ (SolarFire.)

Dane Rudhyar gives the Keynote of this degree as:

‘The courage needed to meet the crises precipitated by social ambition.

What is revealed here is CHARACTER under adverse circumstances.’

Well, adverse circumstances we got plenty of – it’s character that’s been sorely lacking.

Measles on rise in US after decades

Having almost been taken to the Great Beyond as an infant by Red Measles, then later having a raging case of German measles, it was not my favorite story from NPR’s Morning Edition today to hear that 131 cases of measles have been treated in the US this year, and that the number is over 3x the number reported in 2007…a “dramatic increase.”

Seems the formerly declared ‘eradicated’ virus is on the rise in the US through travel, and because of parental concerns of risk involving autism. What a decision to have to make. My kids were vaccinated for it, but my intuition tells me that genetic markers may eventually tell us which children are vulnerable to the vaccination. And it only takes coughs and sneezes to pass it on.

Being hospitalized with measles may then put children who can’t tolerate the vaccine due to chemo treatments, in double peril. Small infants are especially at risk of this contagion.

Then knowing that there exists a Sabian Symbol for “An Epidemic of Mumps” for ’2 Leo’, I consulted Dane Rudhyar’s ‘An Astrological Mandala’ for information on the phenomenon of this serious illness.

’2 Leo: keynote: The spreading power of individual crisis through a collectivity.’

Rudhyar goes on the say that this Symbol should be interpreted on two levels – the physical one, obviously, that can be spread ”in some cases all over the globe” (most quickly by travel.)

He continues…

“Why then an epidemic of mumps? A childhood disease is implied, but it may have very serious complications for adult men who catch it, since it affects not only all lymphatic glands, especially in the neck region, but also the testicles….Leo represents (at least potentially ) rebirth – at the level of the conscious and mind-based individuality.

Thus in Leo man, in this sense, is as yet only a ‘little child’ – one might say a would-be initiate, an infant in spirit. The relation of the mumps to the sexual glands is characteristic, for the entrance into the realm of the conscious and individualized mind can affect the sex force, either through overstimulation and irritation, or in terms of a deliberate ascetic deprivation.

What was an individual issue is now seen as a collective danger. Thus we are dealing with THE INFECTIOUS SPREAD OF INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES.” (DR’s Caps.)

Here are more possibilities: Lynda Hill gives The Caution for this degree as: rampaging *gossip; widespread fear or upset; embarrassment; obsession with health; impotence; contagious thoughts; negative thinking and compulsive actions.

Any way we view it, this degree indicates situations which may affect large amounts of people and may spread quickly.

NPR’s spread of campaign tidbits this morning included a story of threatening hoax letters that were sent to John McCain’s Denver (contained ‘powder’) and New Hampshire (no powder) offices and which may have been sent from a “detention facility.” But not from the Hanoi Hilton, one may assume.

Then there’s the McCain ad against Obama and his reputed ties with 1960s Weatherman Bill Ayers (sp?), a story you’ve probably heard before. Trouble is, Barack Obama was a small child in the 60s - a Sun in Leo child, actually – so how much unfitness for the White House he could’ve caught from the radical organization, is unclear.

Mumps, perhaps. Radicalism against the US government? Now come on, McSame!  A scandal can this you make?

Perhaps McCain or an aide forgot this small yet significant detail. Or did they mean: Obama – so dangerous to America, he started as a little child!

So can threatening hoaxes make you a sympathetic figure to the American public, or do they simply spread fear?

And yet, of course, if a case can be proven (?) against someone (?), the culprit will be facing serious federal charges. No news on what to do with a zealous staffer if found to be attempting to make McCain look more…needed.

Since we assume that the mumps-spreading headline is no hoax, let’s get back to it for I’m fond of children and take it hard if they’re harmed.

Okay, so if I put my tin foil hat on (yes, I can fashion one just by moseying to a kitchen drawer) I’d say that the specter of population control springs to my ~admittedly~ overly suspicious mind.

For as you know, the Sabian Symbol (’28Cap’) for US natal Pluto is: “A Large Aviary” which from under tin foil hats might sound a bit like avian flu fears periodically spread by the Germanically named ‘Homeland’ ‘Security’ (Moon/Saturn, a combo of energies which contain health and hypochondria influences),  and an image of a large bird as an airplane or jet, suitable for transmission of contagious disease.

Not that there’s no real threat, just that we may never find out from whence it actually came. Free floating fear? Is that a bit like free-range chickens?

As to parents’ autism concerns about innoculating children for mumps, I don’t know what I’d decide to do if my children were still whippersnappers, but suspect I’d take the risk esp considering the dangerous ordeal the virus put me through. Plus, another consideration with mumps complications is heart valve damage (Leo = heart!)

Earth Hour: got candles?

Black-Out at 8! Here’s a bit I’ve written on the horoscope for 8:00 pm’s Earth Hour this evening:

depending on your time zone. Naturally it was New Zealand and Figi starting things off with Sydney, Australia hosting the official opening ceremonies, but here in Georgia USA, the second annual Earth Hour is about 5 hours hence (edt) with “12Libra” rising in Atlanta.

The Sabian Symbol for this Ascendant–the WHAT? point of the chart–is:

 ”Miners Emerging From a Deep Coal Mine.” Could the Symbol BE more appropriate, oh coal industry?

This Symbol speaks of stopping work (turning off all PCs here, unplugging what we can), and Dane Rudhyar, in his ‘An Astrological Mandala’ gives this picture’s keynote as:

“The need to carry on at ever deeper levels the quest for knowledge which keeps burning the fires of the collective mind of society.”

And since miners emerge from mines with blackened faces, a few candles strewn about will be necessary to counteract the darkness of…Earth Hour!
