Fireballs and Volcanic Sunsets April 2010

Space Weather News for April 15, 2010

MIDWESTERN FIREBALL: A brilliant fireball streaked across the USA on the evening of April 14, startling observers in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and surrounding states. Experts say it was a small asteroid, about a meter wide, that exploded in mid-air with an energy equivalent to some 20 tons of TNT.

National Weather Service radars detected the fireball’s debris trail, resulting in maps that could help guide meteorite hunters to fragments on the ground.

VOLCANIC SUNSETS: A cloud of ash from Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano is drifting across Europe this week and causing sunsets of surpassing beauty. Europeans are encouraged to look west at the end of the day.

Using asteroid archetypes in Political Astrology

My friend, astrologer Alex D’Atria, has sent me an excellent link to her blog, ‘Modern Astrology’ with articles by and interviews with astrologer Mark Andrew Holmes.

Mark uses many more asteroids and other unusual points in his chart delineations than this particular and reluctant astrologer could ever have time for, but their keywords are certainly of interest for honing in on the meanings of planetary placements and indications in any chart.

Midas: 8 Gemini

These days gold-hoarding Midas hangs out around 8 Gemini so I’m looking at Dane Rudhyar’s Sabian Symbol book, ‘An Astrological Mandala’ for details on our “Second Gilded Age” of Robber Baron Midasses, the obscenely wealthy class which has imposed upon those underneath them on the golden ladder of life the income inequality in America which now widens to Soup Line dimensions.

PBS’s ‘Bill Moyers’ Journal’ yesterday addressed these issues and called it an idee fixe  which the power elite cling to so tightly (tightwads) concerning the ‘free’ market system which they can’t seem to think their way out of.

Why should they when their amassing of wealth stokes a rosy illusion of liberation from the collective masses–a heady motive for imagining themselves above the rabble!

Wasn’t it Einstein who said you can’t think your way out of a problem with the same thinking that created the problem? But these greedy, power hungry culprits don’t want a way out and they prefer the rest of us simmering in the cauldron, thanks. And dissolving of boundaries–economic, national, social–is part of their much-touted one-world government intrigues where their dreams of world domination thrive.

Barack Obama’s mentions of America’s ongoing class warfare don’t make it happen–the power elite do, then they cringe when someone points it out! As well they should. For glorified ’brethren’ they sure don’t care at all for their fellow man.

Yet Some People the world over are trying to better their positions bwo labor unions…

Atlantis launches after 2 month delay

Coming here just now I saw a headline that the Atlantis crew is short on space experience. Well…how encouraging.

Especially after writing my semi-grumpy post on today’s Atlantis launch, Cape Canaveral, FL, 2:45 pm est.

It’s not that I try to be a grumpy grumpiola–it simply comes naturally, and we should all be glad when feisty Mars is finished his out-of-bounds stint. It’s been a doozy.

Art 2008: Arachne’s Thread

Usually Ariadne is the one following a thread in mythology, but here it’s Arachne. After all, Arachne’s type of spinning needs thread, too!

The asteroid Arachne’s heliocentric North Node is located at 25 Capricorn, yet this very night her transiting position is 10Libra18.

Traveling nearby (13Lib06) is the starry asteroid, Astraea, keywords: ‘justice’ and ‘law.’

As you may know, this is the same neighborhood of the zodiac as US natal Saturn from July 4, 1776–a planet which also is associated with law and with authority and control as ruler of Capricorn. (Wait a minute–is this a thread I see before me?) 

Along with Uranus, Saturn, Urania, Chiron, and Mercury, Arachne may be used in charts as a very specific significator for the internet and the http://www. Her main keywords are: ‘web; network; entanglement’ and of course there is very much the spidery flavor to this lady.

Kind of like spiders crawling all over your blog and website, yes?
