Senator Ted Cruz: “a crusader dueling with shadows”
Something about Senator Ted Cruz
A US Senator since January 2013, Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada on December 22, 1970 as the Sun reached Capricorn, sign of government, law, and business (birth hour unknown.) His ‘reigning need’ (Tyl) is shown by Moon in Libra, ruled by evaluating, attracting, sometimes vengeful Venus, a planet associated with money. Libra’s Airy nature denotes intellectual and legal interests along with creativity shown to best advantage by a use of balance though a certain emotionally detached attitude may be present.
No, the harmony preferred by Libra, Venus, and a Venus-ruled Moon (emotions, feelings, moods, physical body) aren’t always in store for a man born with a gracious helping of powerful planetary aspects relating to his natal Sun (ego; willpower; the Quest) and Mercury (thinking processes; planning; communications) and young Sen. Cruz sports a few such aspects which have provided him with the inherent motivation and drive to reach that pinnacle called Capitol Hill.
You may wish to read a further analysis of his planetary aspects on my Political Astrology site Stars Over Washington where a fuller astro-portrait may be found.
Since the Moon remained in Libra for the 24 hours of Dec 22, 1970, a precise birth hour isn’t required in order to consider Sen. Cruz’s Sun Cap-Moon Libra combination of energies with the Sun signifying the conscious mind (adult) and the Moon denoting the unconscious (child), and of course the unconscious mind tends to be the more powerful motivator of the two. Getting them working together is the height of successful creativity and ‘self-actualization’ and the square (90 degrees) between Capricorn and Libra supplies the dynamism one must have in order to ‘make the effort’ necessary to succeed.
Sen. Cruz’s Sun and Moon signs, one ruled by conservative, austere Saturn, planet of the status quo, the other by Venus, as noted, above, gives a Venus-Saturn signature (loyalty but dissatisfaction) which is further emphasized by a natal opposition between Venus (Sco) and Saturn Rx (Tau) across the intense Taurus-Scorpio axis of Values and Money, in mid-degrees. Plus, Saturn in Taurus is quite determined to be a preserver of values, an attitude helpful in Politics, yet whose values is another question entirely.
Curious fact: the ‘King of Terror’ Solar Eclipse that Nostradamus warned us about–August 11, 1999 @18Leo21–has Mr. Cruz’s position of Saturn (16Tau17 Rx v 16Tau52 Direct) which basically makes the difficult *’Mother of All Eclipses’ Cruz’s Saturn Return, age 29, a time when responsibilities should be accepted and increasing maturity is expected–or else. For as you know, Saturn is a karmic planet bringing along a reaping of what was sown in the past.) Naturally, all who were born around 1970 have planetary links to the 1999 eclipse and the May 2000 Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn may be of great personal significance for them as well.
Sun Cap-Moon Libra denotes our brazen junior senator as a crusader who duels with shadows and who possesses a paradoxical personality that’s conservative yet liberal. And though he seems to be in charge of his well-regulated life, an ‘ideas v action’ motif may be noted. Yet with his purposeful outlook, he can achieve most anything in life though negative thinking may interfere at times. Feeling the weight of his duties acutely, the serious Senator Cruz is inclined to be opportunistic, skeptical to the point of cynicism, and pedantic in any particular area he considers his expertise.
If a cause is deemed to be worthwhile, Sen. Cruz is happy to enjoin the fight with cunning shrewdness and a dry, factual approach. Although he prefers to behave politely (Uranus in Libra), he wants his words to have dramatic punch. Business and financial astuteness may be in evidence with much support from natal Jupiter in Big Business Scorpio, the sign ruled by ruthless, overbearing Mars-Pluto influences.
At age 42, Senator Cruz may be yet to learn that a ‘stiff upper lip’ isn’t always the best solution to other people’s problems, or to his own; a heavy sense of justice which ‘must be done’, plus, a healthy self-opinion refuses to allow his ego to be trod upon which are tendencies aided by the cool, emotionally detached Libra Moon. Thus, any criticism can seem to ‘roll off his back’, as they say–including that of his fellow Republicans.
Now let’s close our Cap-Libra consideration of Ted Cruz with the most apt of three “Images for Integration” (conscious + unconscious) given for this combo by Charles & Suzi Harvey in their excellent book, Sun Sign-Moon Sign–it has a quaint, knightly flavor to it:
“A visionary statesman fights a duel to see justice done.”
Somehow I can easily imagine the senator challenging an adversary by smacking him with his grey morning gloves, can’t you?

*Since the brutal WTC attacks of 9/11/01 and America’s subsequent brutalities and over-reaches, we see clearly what Nostradamus’ warning involved in preparation for the much-touted New Millennium. One basic reason it’s called ‘The Mother of All Eclipses’ is because it falls into the 1 North Saros Series. The initial 1N eclipse occurred on January 4, 1639 @13Cap48 (opposite US natal Sun of July 4, 1776 thus personalizing the August 1999 eclipse for our nation’s presidents, the White House, and the American people–in Astrology’s past-present-future kind of way.)
Additionally, 1N is the Pre-Natal Eclipse Series of the JFK Assassination Nov 22, 1963 and of the First Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 by Freemason President Harry Truman.
For historical context, check out Events of January 1639 if you wish.

Boston Marathon Bombing merits questions galore
Dave Lindorff’s article Something’s Rotten in Boston: Who’s Investigating the FBI Investigators? provides information concerning the suspects and the crime but also asks some intriguing questions. I provide its link here in case you’re curious and don’t wish to automatically accept an official storyline touted by a government and a mainstream media both of which have lied to us before.
Many times.
The Assassination of JFK, Jr (video)
It’s unusual that I post such a controversial video on this particular blog but I’m feeling unusual on this Monday. The following 109-minute presentation contains opinions and information from its creators and does not necessarily conform to the views of this blogger:

Inauguration 2013: Sun AQ-Moon Gemini
Re: President Barack Obama’s second Inauguration, a private Oath of Office to be taken on Sunday January 20, 2013 and the public Oath taken on Monday January 21, 2013 (since January 20th falls on a Sunday.)
On my Political Astrology blog, Stars Over Washington, you’ll find on display astro-notes with both Inauguration 2013 horoscopes set for the Capitol Building Washington DC (where else?)
For my wonderful WordPress blog, I have a few astro-notes concerning both days because the president’s private Oath will be sworn under the rays of Sun Aquarius-Moon Taurus (Air-Earth = practical idealism) but there’s a different mood on Monday with Sun AQ-Moon Gemini (Air-Air = natural communicator.) Let’s consider both blends if you’re willing!
Now you know that in Mundane Astrology, Sun = the leader, or, the president, and Moon = the people, or, the public. Plus, Sun represents the conscious mind, Moon the unconscious; Sun = male, Moon = female. It’s all about energy and with Sun-Moon blends, it’s the combination of energies that tells more than simply Sun or Moon signs can divulge on their own.
Jan 20, 2013 noon est, when the previous presidential term officially ends and the new administration begins:
Sun AQ-Moon Tau is a level-headed, capable, friendly, ambitious, and entrepreneurial combination that harmoniously unites the emotional nature with intellectual power. Conflicts may result from love of home and comfort vying against future-oriented insights. It’s a good blend for a leader for it inspires confidence in others through reliability and an ability to debate issues rationally.
Two famous folk who share Sun AQ-Moon Tau natally are included with a quote from each:
“A hungry man is not a free man.” –Adlai E. Stevenson
“Only by transcending the everyday, by seeing human life in larger terms, can the individual escape the slow strangulation of permanent errors.” –E.G. Price
The blend’s “Image for Integration” given by Charles & Suzi Harvey in their book Sun Sign-Moon Sign is more than a little revealing of the direction society is being sent and of the president who will continue to man the helm for four more years, much to the dismay of his political opponents:
“The resident caretaker of a ‘New Age’ community sips his Beaujolais as he systematically does the year’s accounts.”
Monday January 21, 2013 Sun AQ-Moon Gem changes to a lighter tone with the public mood turned excitably Geminian. This breezy blend is progressive unlike a Taurean flavored Moon with Taurus being ‘the preserver’; a strong social conscience is indicated along with wit and a philosophical bent though the combo’s flexibility mixes with a stubborn streak provided by the Fixed (rigid) energy of Aquarius.
Emotionally naive, this blend denotes detachment which is shown on one level by a carefree nonchalance. Being drawn to ‘New Age’ thinking tallies with yesterday’s Aquarian-Taurean energies for changing the world seems a distinct possibility; communicating radical ideas goes along with journalistic interests, plus, public relations is a natural field of endeavor along with the high tech devices that seem so necessary in today’s social networking and mobile blogging world.
The innate charm, friendliness, and sociability of Monday’s blend should enhance our nation’s inaugural celebrations, balls, and parties perfectly!
Sun AQ-Moon Gem is shared natally by social activist Saul Alinsky (!), comedian Jack Benny, “wise man”
Elihu Root, and Thomas Paine who helpfully informed us that, “The sublime and the ridiculous are often so nearly related, that it is difficult to class them separately.”
(Especially on Capitol Hill these days though ‘the sublime’ too often goes missing entirely–jc.)
There are two “Images for Integration” for Sun AQ-Moon Gem which apply quite well to Inauguration 2013 and the second one amazes me with its aptness to the president and his Inaugural Address, I think. See if you agree:
“A child in a balloon drifts over the city reporting back by portable phone on all below…A white blackbird charms the garden with its song.” (Harveys.)
Happy Inauguration Day, Everyone!
Paul and Janna Ryan: Wedding Day Astrology
Republican Rep. Paul Ryan proposed marriage to tax attorney Janna Little in April 2000 and they were wed in Oklahoma City, OK on December 2, 2000 with approximately 400 guests attending. (Click link for more details.)
Now if the Ryans’ wedding ceremony took place at or after 9:23 pm CST, the Moon (feminine principle) had entered Pisces. If before, the Moon was in Aquarius; in both cases, the Sun (male principle) was in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius in the 10Sag21 to 11Sag22 degree range. (Dec 2, 2000 12 am CST to 11:59 pm CST.)
(Astro-Note: as a pair, the luminaries–Sun and Moon–indicate Marriage.)
And as you know, idealistic Jupiter’s natural abode is the 9th house of Philosophy, Religion, and Higher Education. Plus, the Sun (husband) conjoined Pluto on that day (Pluto @12Sag39 noon CST) and neared Chiron 19Sag09. Synchronistically, the Wedding Moon at noon (@25AQ20) conjoined and reflected asteroid Juno, the wife and met Cupido 00Pis25 (family; cupidity or love) soon after Luna entered Pisces.
So which Sun-Moon blend of this the happy couple to detail? First, some basic elements to consider:
Sun Sag-Moon AQ is a ‘live wire’ Fire-Air combo of bluster and bombast and denotes those who tend to become ‘carried away’ with their own ‘eloquent’ rhetoric. Zeal for innovative ideas is notable which are then persuasively expressed to others. This is a visionary combo which must guard against impracticality; in evidence may be a tendency to be out-of-touch with the emotional realm of feelings.
Sun Sag-Moon Pisc is a Fire-Water blend which may be described as a “bulldozer” for its tendency to push ahead in the preferred direction, no matter what. This combo denotes a more practical visionary with feet kept firmly on the ground but with an instinct for the ‘main chance’. There’s a love of the good life and a talent for pulling rabbits out of hats.
Hmmm…guess we’d better look at both Sun-Moon sign combinations!
Sun Sag-Moon AQ (Janna does look to me to have ‘Aquarian blue eyes’!): intellectual and friendly, this visionary blend denotes high ideals, a breezy outspokenness, and a seeker of truth (uh-oh! guess you can always seek it so you can hide it!) All types of viewpoints are accomodated with an easy-going adaptability, and its positive outlook is willing to take risks whenever necessary; a keen social awareness may be noted which identifies with the World View, or which seeks to justify its personal eccentricities.
With this blend, life’s mundane realities present challenges, and a high-minded crusading zeal shows insensitivity to more sentimental souls. There’s a tendency to over-generalize while living in the realm of abstract ideas, and in relationships, Sun Sag-Moon AQ isn’t automatically adept at intimacy. An intelligent, strong-egoed partner is a must to keep things interesting; plus, loyalty is much prized as long as independence is part of the marriage.
Is this a passionate and romantic combination? Yes, but even so there’s usually a brotherly-sisterly quality within the partnership.
Sun Sag-Moon Pisc describes more of an emotional, imaginative blend with deep convictions, generosity, and a moralistic streak. This is The Philosopher yet the logic is irrational, the dreams fantastical. An enormous sensitivity to the human condition is prominent (and not generally found within the objectivist hearts of Ayn-Randers) along with a trusting openness–the need to give to others is an endearing quality of this combo.
Lavish expenditures may occur for this blend contains a ‘wastrel’ sub-personality! Giving the ‘shirt off one’s back’ is described here and for that reason and others (and because odds are that the Ryan nuptials took place prior to 9:23 pm), I ‘vote’ for the Sun Sag-Moon AQ blend to more closely describe the relationship and the individual partners in the Paul and Janna Ryan union.
What do you think? If you wish to ‘vote’ for a blend or remark, please leave a comment with this post!

SOTU 2012: Sun AQ/Moon AQ
Televised at 9:00 pm est tonight, January 24, 2012, is President Obama’s State of the Union Address for 2012. Read my just-published astrological conclusions at Stars Over Washington, if you wish–the SOTU 2012 horoscope shows Mars Rx rising in Virgo, sign of The Worker, and denotes the president’s current Mars Return.
SOTU 2012 will be delivered under the Air-Air influence of a Sun Aquarius-Moon Aquarius blend which indicates mental focus, gregariousness, and a detached friendliness. The AQ/AQ blend is idealistic, helpful, and very observant yet can operate as ‘a law unto itself’. (Well, these are politicians we’re talking about here!)
Sun AQ/Moon AQ is shared natally by a US president: William McKinley, and has three Images for Integration, one of which may remind you of President Obama’s popularity in Europe and elsewhere:
“A friend to all the world looks in the mirror and takes time out to befriend herself…The living, breathing entity we call society…The Jolly Green Giant.” (Sun Sign-Moon Sign, Charles & Suzi Harvey.)
Now I can imagine Mr. Obama using the word “society” during SOTU 2012 but I’m not certain where Green Giant canned peas can possibly come in! Well, except for Americans who can’t afford a can of peas or much else to serve tonight for their children’s dinners…
And no president’s rhetoric will ever be a substitute for that.
January 24, 2012: SOTU and SOPA?
January 24, 2012 is shaping up to be an important date in the US with President Obama delivering his State of the Union Address (SOTU) before the TV cameras and a Joint Session of Congress in the evening (9:00 pm ET), and the US Senate said to be voting on the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), a freaky piece of legislative gumbledy-gook with an Orwellian hue that will totally re-design the Internet while tossing democracy on the garbage heap of History, thanks to a highly plutocratic USA.
Here’s what I wrote about the Internet power grab recently on Stars Over Washington:
“Our millionaire Senate is set to vote on SOPA on January 24, 2012 and this draconian bill will sail through to a corporate harbor if enough people fail to speak up and out. If it passes then subversive, controlling string-puller Pluto in staid Capricorn will win and we will lose a larger chunk of our republic and our right to exercise free speech than we may yet appreciate.”
That’s just me. But do you blame me?
Now my annual post on the SOTU Address horoscope of January 24, 2012 isn’t published yet but if you have a chance, please check out today’s SO’W entry concerning President Obama’s very current Mars Return 2012 which began this past Saturday, crescendoes and forces acceptance on February 1, 2012, and wraps up–hopefully with real solutions–on June 18, 2012. However, its Martian effects last until the next time Mars returns to its natal position on the evening Barack Obama was born, and times a two-year cycle of new activity beginning for our president, and thus, for America as long as he is It.
Because this is a ‘three-fer’ Mars Return (3x) due to planetary retrogradation, Mr. Obama may have activities and projects left over to deal with, overlapping activities (who wouldn’t in the White House?), stop-and-go delays–all with a drawn out emphasis on Martian matters and issues which need closer consideration than if Mars returned only once.
The three horoscopes (Jan 14-Feb 1-June 18, 2012) may also be read individually by dividing the two-year Martian period into thirds with each Mars Return horoscope representing that third of the two-year period.
However, as you will see if you click above, the Moon makes an excellent timer in any chart and here, a Geminian Luna returns to her natal position in the horoscope of Barack Obama on February 1, 2012–the day of his Rx Mars Return, #2 of 3.

Cold Hearts in America (and three quotes)
The first quote concerns America’s shadow personality, the one most of us prefer to ignore, and it fits in with some Republican audience members’ shouted sentiments like, Let him die!, and other such cold hearted remarks and attitudes–and they know who they are.
We’d all better hope that those with such harsh sentiments toward their fellow man–fellow Americans–aren’t nurses, doctors, or other healthcare workers.
And I’d best fix my own cup of tea, thanks. You, I can’t trust.
“The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have actually talked about them. You have to hand it to America. It has exercised a quite clinical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It’s a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis.” -Harold Pinter, 2005 Nobel Lecture
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” –Hermann Goering (1893-1946) Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe, President of the Reichstag.
“The people never give up their liberties, but under some delusion.” –Edmund Burke (1729-1797) Irish-born British statesman, parliamentary orator, and political thinker
Uncomfortable how these three quotes go together on some fundamental American level, isn’t it?
