June 8 2013 New Moon in Gemini: “A Large Archaic Volume”

If you use the Sabian Symbols much you probably recognize the one for Saturday June 8, 2013′s New Moon @18Gem01–”A Large Archaic Volume”–using the ’rounding up’ method which gives us’19Gemini’.

Sun Gem-Moon Gem is a double Air blend of intellect, reasonableness, and debate and watching Washington DC politics as I regularly do, I’m wondering when or if the ‘reasonableness’ will be apparent any time soon. Quick communications (ex: texting) and a talent for Mercurial mimicry are evident with this combination of energies so a lot of talking is on the weekend’s list of activities.

This personality blend is shared natally by an interesting cast of characters including famous thespian John Barrymore (“One of my chief regrets during my years in the theater is that I couldn’t sit in the audience and watch me.”) Well, yes. Self-absorb much? Still, I always thought his lion-esque appearance, imperious voice, and royal manner were perfect on the stage.

Double Gemini writer Dorothy Sayers had her time in the sun as well and how perfect in our day of spying on people’s private lives is this, one of her more famous verses?

“As I grow older and older

And totter towards the tomb

I find that I care less and less

Who goes to bed with whom.”

 

Too bad Washington’s political operatives can’t take such a sentiment to heart! Yet how would DC survive without blackmail?

But the double Gemini fellow whose famous quote I wish most to add here is that of economist John Maynard Keynes for it is my belief that his words lightly touch upon the more-visible-than-ever agenda of those who would rule the entire world if or as soon as they can manage it:

“Ideas shape the course of history.”

Well, yes. Yes, they do. It’s all in the planning, another function of Mercury. I only wish the ruling elite, both public and hidden, would have them some better ideas than what they’re attempting to forcefully implement from their large archaic volume.

Canopus: the Star and the underwater discovery (video)

Have you heard that Canopus has been found under the sea? With planet Neptune now traversing its own watery sign of Pisces, I’m reading of several recent archaeological discoveries being revealed from underneath the oceans. Here’s one of them:

As for Canopus the Star, ancient cultures have various associations with what could be considered a ‘Royal’ star. In the Zodiac, Canopus is located in mid-Cancer (near Sirius–and US natal Sun) and is the Alpha star of constellation Argo the Boat (renamed Carina) from the ancient Jason and the Golden Fleece myth.

Said to be of a Jupiter-Saturn nature when affecting a horoscope (both planets link to royalty and fatherhood), Canopus denotes pathfinders, leaders, and those who take long journeys perhaps with a Golden Fleece as a goal. Yes, the Hero’s Journey is indicated–in particular when long sea voyages are taken, plus, film actors and writers often have creative Canopus linked to their natal planets.

Pablo Picasso was born with Venus (art) connected to Canopus for natal Venus was rising as Canopus culminated at Midheaven, the Career/Goal Point of a horoscope.

Yet there is a dark side to Canopus–the ‘dark father’ who eventually consumes his children, a Chronos-Saturn theme. In line with this is that in some cultures, Canopus was known as ‘Heavy-Weighing Canopus’, the weight at the end of the plumb line that defined the poles of the Earth.

Canopus, thought to be the Point of Stillness in the South, was noticed to move as the plumb line was knocked off-kilter and thus is associated with precession. Some North American tribes considered the northward movement of this southern pole star as a timer for the end of the world and called Canopus the ‘Spirit Star’ or ‘Death Star’.

As such, Canopus is closely linked to the concept of Time, a province in Astrology of Saturn, the Timekeeper (‘Father Time’), Grim Reaper, and, in Psychological Astrology, the senex, or, old man.

And in our horoscopes? The nemesis of Canopus, if linked to a planet or planets in your chart, is: “needing too much control” which, in the end, tends to damage what has been created or achieved.

*Note that US natal Sun (July 4, 1776–the president) is located at 14 Cancer and “needing too much control” may be precisely the problem shown by the Justice Department’s tapping of AP communications, surveillance which allegedly was not ordered by the White House to find a Neptunian leak. It didn’t have to be ordered, it could have been a “whatever you have to do, find the leak” imperative–you know how presidents do.

Then there’s the IRS ‘scandal’ (which may have been purposefully set up by –?–) and Canopus ‘tends to damage what has been created or achieved’. Unfortunately for the American people, the damage seems at this point to be the very foundation of our country’s now-eroding values of freedom and the right to privacy.

Senator Ted Cruz: “a crusader dueling with shadows”

Something about Senator Ted Cruz

A US Senator since January 2013, Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada on December 22, 1970 as the Sun reached Capricorn, sign of government, law, and business (birth hour unknown.) His ‘reigning need’ (Tyl) is shown by Moon in Libra, ruled by evaluating, attracting, sometimes vengeful Venus, a planet associated with money. Libra’s Airy nature denotes intellectual and legal interests along with creativity shown to best advantage by a use of balance though a certain emotionally detached attitude may be present.

No, the harmony preferred by Libra, Venus, and a Venus-ruled Moon (emotions, feelings, moods, physical body) aren’t always in store for a man born with a gracious helping of powerful planetary aspects relating to his natal Sun (ego; willpower; the Quest) and Mercury (thinking processes; planning; communications) and young Sen. Cruz sports a few such aspects which have provided him with the inherent motivation and drive to reach that pinnacle called Capitol Hill.

Since the Moon remained in Libra for the 24 hours of Dec 22, 1970, a precise birth hour isn’t required in order to consider Sen. Cruz’s Sun Cap-Moon Libra combination of energies with the Sun signifying the conscious mind (adult) and the Moon denoting the unconscious (child), and of course the unconscious mind tends to be the more powerful motivator of the two. Getting them working together is the height of successful creativity and ‘self-actualization’ and the square (90 degrees) between Capricorn and Libra supplies the dynamism one must have in order to ‘make the effort’ necessary to succeed.

Sen. Cruz’s Sun and Moon signs, one ruled by conservative, austere Saturn, planet of the status quo, the other by Venus, as noted, above, gives a Venus-Saturn signature (loyalty but dissatisfaction) which is further emphasized by a natal opposition between Venus (Sco) and Saturn Rx (Tau) across the intense Taurus-Scorpio axis of Values and Money, in mid-degrees. Plus, Saturn in Taurus is quite determined to be a preserver of values, an attitude helpful in Politics, yet whose values is another question entirely.

Curious fact: the ‘King of Terror’ Solar Eclipse that Nostradamus warned us about–August 11, 1999 @18Leo21–has Mr. Cruz’s position of Saturn (16Tau17 Rx v 16Tau52 Direct) which basically makes the difficult *’Mother of All Eclipses’ Cruz’s Saturn Return, age 29, a time when responsibilities should be accepted and increasing maturity is expected–or else. For as you know, Saturn is a karmic planet bringing along a reaping of what was sown in the past.) Naturally, all who were born around 1970 have planetary links to the 1999 eclipse and the May 2000 Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn may be of great personal significance for them as well.

Sun Cap-Moon Libra denotes our brazen junior senator as a crusader who duels with shadows and who possesses a paradoxical personality that’s conservative yet liberal. And though he seems to be in charge of his well-regulated life, an ‘ideas v action’ motif may be noted. Yet with his purposeful outlook, he can achieve most anything in life though negative thinking may interfere at times. Feeling the weight of his duties acutely, the serious Senator Cruz is inclined to be opportunistic, skeptical to the point of cynicism, and pedantic in any particular area he considers his expertise.

If a cause is deemed to be worthwhile, Sen. Cruz is happy to enjoin the fight with cunning shrewdness and a dry, factual approach. Although he prefers to behave politely (Uranus in Libra), he wants his words to have dramatic punch. Business and financial astuteness may be in evidence with much support from natal Jupiter in Big Business Scorpio, the sign ruled by ruthless, overbearing Mars-Pluto influences.

At age 42, Senator Cruz may be yet to learn that a ‘stiff upper lip’ isn’t always the best solution to other people’s problems, or to his own; a heavy sense of justice which ‘must be done’, plus, a healthy self-opinion refuses to allow his ego to be trod upon which are tendencies aided by the cool, emotionally detached Libra Moon. Thus, any criticism can seem to ‘roll off his back’, as they say–including that of his fellow Republicans.

Now let’s close our Cap-Libra consideration of Ted Cruz with the most apt of three “Images for Integration” (conscious + unconscious) given for this combo by Charles & Suzi Harvey in their excellent book, Sun Sign-Moon Sign–it has a quaint, knightly flavor to it:

“A visionary statesman fights a duel to see justice done.”

Somehow I can easily imagine the senator challenging an adversary by smacking him with his grey morning gloves, can’t you?

Is it game over for PCs?

Well, I do hope not. Using my desk pc makes me feel cozier and more stable than a tablet can, more rooted than a frisky, restless smartphone does, and just plain snug as a bug. Plus, it’s easier to type on a PC keyboard than using the hunt-n-peck method of communicating so far has been on tablet or phone.

Set in my ways ever since my first Royal typewriter at age 12? Yep!

And yet there are those working in tech fields who sit about and think about such things as ailing PC markets and sales games being over–such as folk as CNN, for example.

Feb 25, 2013 Full Moon in Virgo = job losses?

Today’s post at Stars Over Washington gives details and a view of the horoscope of February 25, 2013′s Full Moon in Virgo, sign of jobs, work, service, and health, with the chart set for the Capitol Building, Washington DC.

And as you know, various services in the US are due for interruption and more job losses are predicted because of ‘sequestration’ cuts which are likely to be implemented beginning March 1st unless Congress lifts itself up and shows more wisdom in financial matters than they’ve demonstrated so far. Such are the Machiavellian tactics of Washington politicians egged on by their wealthy billionaire backers against We the People as they plan austerity for us, more riches bwo tax breaks for them!

On Monday February 25th, congress members skulk back to the Capitol Building after their week-long vacation under the rays of a Virgo Full Moon which perfects on Monday at 3:26 pm est and colors this congressional session.

Implications of the Full Moon’s Sun Pisces-Moon Virgo Water-Earth blend of energies (mud-stuck yet practical, swamped by duties they should have already met) may be interesting to note: ‘analysis and synthesis, nervous and fretful, large-minded but good with details, devoted servants with refined tastes’. This blend denotes a confrontation (Full Moon = culmination, and awareness of relationship dynamics) between intuition and reason with Pisces unable to stand much reality, and Virgo all for making clear-eyed assessments and finding practical solutions (though what Congress is actually ‘devoted’ to seems suspect.)

A caution for this session of Congress which begins with a Virgo Full Moon, is to avoid perfectionism and an overly critical attitude toward others along with a tendency to allow emotions and rationality to clash–for it’s difficult to distinguish between them.

In Sun Sign-Moon Sign, the Harveys give interesting Images for Integration to describe the Sun Pisces-Moon Virgo pair of energies: “Small events bring enormous consequences…Faith and reason shake hands.”

Perhaps the best advice for everyone–very much including our political miscreants and radicals about to bring our financial matters to a halt–comes from famed psychologist Roberto Assagioli who was born under the influences of the Sun Pisces-Moon Virgo blend and observed that:

“Without forgiveness life is governed by…an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation.”

Hmm…wise advice for Washington DC, isn’t it?

Naming of Pluto’s Two Moons Closes Feb 25th

Two more Moons for Pluto, god of Hades

Votes for the names of Pluto’s newly discovered moons–P4 in 2011 and P5 in 2012–is open until noon on February 25th (link below) and Star Trek’s William Shatner is favoring and tweeting about “Vulcan” for one of the moons in honor of Dr. Spock’s reputed home planet.

Actually, the name “Vulcan” already appears in Astrology and is related in meaning to a hypothetical Uranian planet, Vulcanus (power; force; fated happenings.)

In Greek Mythology, Hephaistos [Latin: Vulcan) was told by Zeus to create the first woman, Pandora, as a punishment to mankind. Being of a Pandoric persuasion myself, I consider this to be perverted misogynistic hogwash! We women are an evolutionary improvement over man, imho.

Anyway, back to the forge, where Vulcan’s fire molds metals into weapons for primal violence. Here’s what my 1948 copy of DeVore’s Encyclopedia says about Vulcan:

“An hypothetical planet, much conjectured among ancient astrologers, the orbit of which is supposed to lie inside that of Mercury. Astronomers have so far found no justification for any assumption of its existence.”

And of course, Mercury orbits close to the Sun where the temperature is just what a blacksmith prefers.

Mar 9 2013 Planets and Moon line up in mystical Pisces

Born with a Pisces Moon myself, I was interested to read expert astrologer Mary Plumb’s take on the abundance of Pisces energy all around us this February into March. Even Pope Benedict’s resignation is denoted with Pisces the Fish an ancient symbol of Christianity.

The horoscope for his official resignation (February 28, 2013 at 8:00 pm Rome Time) shows Venus and Neptune (sub-ruler of Pisces and god of the Seas) joined together upon Royal Star Fomalhaut @4Pisces. As a pair, Venus-Neptune describes the Catholic Church with its worship of Mary (Venus) and its mystical (Neptune) rituals and masses, and Fomalhaut’s themes include mysticism, magic, and the occult, but also inherited illness and congenital effects. As you know, the Pope cites ill health as the reason for his step-down.

Another Mary, Mary Plumb’s article Pisces Takes Over details the oceanic line-up of planets with the Moon on March 9th and the implications of this Jupiter-Neptune energy along with info on when planets are viewable in the night or early morning sky.

Plus, we’re hearing an increase in news events related to Pisces such as oceans, ships, water, fishing, oil and gas, dancing, footwear, negative escapism like alcohol and other drugs…well, here’s a good example–the cruise ship stuck in the Gulf of Mexico which is being tugged to shore–landfall sometime this evening.

And naturally a mention of the Piscean habits of secrecy, deception, and confusion is in order, right?

My Blogger blog overpowered by Kunoichi.info/ –you too?

The word kunoichi means ninja and may be derived from characters meaning ’woman’ and ‘overpowered’–see:  Kunoichi.

Today, for the first time in a while, I attempted to blog a bit on one of my Blogger blogs–Two Hours You’ll Never Get Back– but I found it overpowered by kunoichi dot info so now I’m wondering if anyone else has suffered a similar experience?

Though I’ve not had much time for blogging recently other than Political Astrology topics, I was quite fond of ’2 Hours’ and hope that Google’s Blogger division will do something very soon about this irritating situation. Surely the Great Google can do that!

Uranus/Pluto square brings a song to Norway!

Astrologer Mary Plumb’s TMA blog has published a wonderful post on what Norweigians sang together on April 26, 2012 (video included) in spite of the ongoing energies of the Uranus/Pluto square now affecting the globe with its rebelliousness and unrest until 2015 or so.

Mary includes the natal horoscopes of the Nation of Norway and compares it with the natal chart of the song’s composer–someone whose name we know quite well here in the US. Check out the uprising of inspiration by the Norweigian people!

The Pope’s butler arrested for leaking

Did you hear about the Pope’s butler? He’s been arrested for leaking Vatican secrets.

Seems that ‘leaking’ is on the rise now that watery Neptune, with its ‘urge to merge’, is ensconced within its own oceanic sign of Pisces. Bad thing for everyone is that contagions such as polio and whooping cough are
also on the rise at the same time that governments say they’re short of money.

Another influence when secrets and hidden things are revealed are current eclipses, both lunar and solar, which tend to uncover the most inconvenient things. As you know, a Solar Eclipse just occurred on May 20th @ 00Gem21 with communicative Gemini the sign of news-tellers. The eclipse degree conjoins Fixed Star Alcyone–keywords: something to cry about so methinks perhaps someone in the Vatican may be crying as I type, along with the arrested butler.

And in a few days there’s a Lunar Eclipse @ 14Sag manifesting on June 4th so beware those naughty secrets! And please stay home or get treatment if you’re feeling ill. Thanks.
