It was during NPR’s 5 pm News program that a fuller picture was revealed to me concerning the effects on our markets and food supply from the tragic midwest flooding of the Mississippi River, the Mighty Mississippi.
Yes, I knew it was bad but didn’t realize that there are currently 100 or so barges stranded, rail lines washed out or closed, and other gathering storms of depletion and loss on the clouded horizon for America, and eventually for other parts of the world which receive from our nation’s agricultural largesse.
That the asteroid Ceres is associated with nurturing, nutrition, grains, and security issues is well-known so perhaps you may wish to peruse a brief article on my Political Astrology blog, Stars Over Washington:

Farmers, agricultural workers, transit companies, grocers, and anyone who likes to chow down will be adversely affected by this natural disaster made worse by man’s lack of levee maintenance and other neglectful causes. As we know, Congress just handed Bush more millions for Iraq, but provides precious little for America’s infrastructure needs ad nauseum–and we see yet another result of their sorriness.
(And while I’m thinking about food supply dearth: has anyone considered that the mysterious honey bee disappearances–hive collapse disorder–may be related somehow to genetically engineered crops? I’m no scientist, but I was just wondering. What do you think?)

Certainly the current Neptune (water; flood damage; dissolution)-Chiron (the wounding)-North Node (destiny of the masses; the public) trio is making itself deeply felt in America while traveling in the collective sign of Aquarius–the Waterbearer, and my prayers are with the good people of the midwest during this difficult time.
